Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

Club looks really, really good. I haven't been able to do much with it other than a few funsies swings without a monitor. sounds stellar to me.

Great pics! It plays better than it looks too, so you are in for a treat.
I need this rain to chill out so I can get it outdoors.

I was feeling kinda down about the 3w and just as I was inquiring about a Super Hybrid.

I absolutely roasted it 2 times when I used it today. Had water to carry at 265 today. I hit it 264 😂 that’s a decision issue not a club issue.

My GOODNESS LOL
I've had it out on the course this week for three rounds and haven't managed a good strike yet! 😔

In a fitting bag/driving range/simulator I absolutely smoke fairway woods, then out on the course I top them and hit them so far off the toe they shoot out to the right, toe-shank!

I don't know why I swing them so differently on the course. Really need to get over this issue as right now I don't have anything for over 215/220yds out where my 4I maxes out.

Powercore Red 5 or Helium nanocore for 7W. 88 mph driver swing. Any thoughts? :)

That's a tough one not knowing any more information. I vote Powercore on looks alone though.

I needed to shoot some on course video yesterday, but was able to sneak it a couple swings with the new Quantum 7W.

For the record, I'm playing this with the stock PX Frost (60 I think?).

I had this feeling that my experience outdoors would be quite different than indoors. I don't know what it is, but the longer a club gets, the harder it is for me to hit indoors. Anyway, I was correct in my feeling. Of course, my first swing was heavy contact 😂 After I got that out of my system my other opportunity was much better.

Gauging distance wasn't easy. Steady 15-20mph wind with gusts in the mid 30's. Same could be said for height too I guess, because wind can obviously affect that, but my second swing with it produced a ball height significantly higher than a hybrid would normally be. I was kind of in awe at how high it traveled and the distance was very solid considering the conditions.

Looking forward to the next time out when I have more chances to swing it.

Oh.

It sounds so good.

Oh.

It sounds so good.

I was able to take a few swings with m MaxD 3-wood last week, and the sound is so good.
A crisp "click" of the ball, and the results were awesome.
My playing partner heard and saw it and had to try it out too.

Yes sir. I love that type of sound on a hybrid or fairway wood.

Quantum Max 11 wood with UST Mamiya LINQ Powercore Red is supposed to show up tonight. I'm super excited to get this in hand.

It’s the best feeling FW I’ve played. Makes it way more fun to hit.
Yea I'm kinda sitting here feeling like I shouldn't be here. I'd rather be hitting some golf balls.

Quantum Max 11 wood w/ powercore red just showed up!

This thing is a looker, and initial thoughts are OMG this is fun! More coming.

Okay so I’m about 20 shots into this Quantum 11 wood experiment and right now I’m in love. This could very obviously be the honeymoon period but this thing is hilarious to look down on. Seeing a wood with this much loft. The Quantum is a looker, the sound is a touch more metallic sounding than the DS Adapt woods I’m playing in the rest of my bag, a touch louder to my ear. But man is this thing fun. It is easy to swing and gets the ball up in a hurry.

First thought was to put it up in a comparison to the club I’m thinking it replaces in the DS Adapt 6 hybrid. I generally want this club to go between 145 and 150 yards of carry and it’s gotta be able to hit and hold a green.

Started first with the 6 hybrid hit 5 shots with it, then 5 with the 11 wood, then 5 more with hybrid and finished with 5 11 woods. Numbers below: Skytrak doesn’t list an 11 wood so had ot list it as a 9.

So from this I was seeing good numbers from the 11 wood and it just seems easier for me to hit. Here is the dispersion (white is hybrid, orange is 11wood):

Had a few pulls but no real right miss with the 11 wood.

Satisfied with the test against the 6 hybrid, I wanted to see how it would slot in with my current 9 wood:

Hit 10 shots with each and the 11 wood is definitely slotting in around where I would want it in the initial test. It’s flying high, nice decent and alright spin for me. This will be fun.

Took a bit of a chance. Ordered 7W with powercore red 5 light flex. They were out of the regular flex which I normally play with. Light was only 1 gram lighter and torque is the same and quite low. I am banking on the stability of the shaft I read about. Driver swing about 87mph.:D

Had some speed today with the 5W, little swing tweak seemed to really click. Fully prepared for that tweak to no longer work when I play on Friday 😂

This was me trying to really step on it and see what this could do. Means for a long 250yd approach I can try nuking this vs going Mini Driver off the deck. View attachment 9417149
That is a nuked 5w! And it looks like plenty of consistency.

I'm sooo curious about the 5W this year after hitting the hybrids. My wallet is currently telling me that my 19˚ UW is just fine but man is it tempting.
It's my favorite fw. Easy to hit and plenty of speed and distance.

An 11 wood sounds so crazy to me. I wouldn't mind trying one, but couldn't see myself gaming it. I'm looking forward to more posts about it.

How’s the AD DI doing in the 5W?

I just pulled one out and tipped it for the Elyte TI 5W last night but haven’t hit it.
