Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

I have no clue if this is good or bad, but I think it's good based on the height and carry I'm seeing. I'm sitting at 18-19 launch and 3500-3800 rpm of spin on good swings with the Quantum 7w.

I don't really do optimal, so I'm sure there could be some more "ideal" combination, but for me that's really effective and gets me height I don't usually see from that loft in a hybrid.

That is the name of the game! If you’re seeing flight and numbers that are working for what you need the club to do, that is optimal to a T in my book.

Sounds good to me.

Those numbers seem immensely playable to me.

Very nice. Now to get past this next little stint of bad weather and get this season going.

I spin 7-woods into orbit. I’d take that.

Club photos are fun.

I know... I'm a comedian. Pics are really great in all seriousness. That's cool as these FW's are really great too.
Just giving ya a hard time man!

The Triple Diamond 5 wood such an absolute bomber. I mention it often, but I am an aggressive player. The confidence in getting every time I pull this darned thing.

A much higher pitch than my other Quantum clubs. But it's exactly like I want from a fairway wood. Twak and ball goes far and fast

The Quantum 5 wood has been a real weapon for me recently from off the deck which is really where I’ve been hitting this club lately. I’ve always loved a 5 wood and had a lot of success with them in then past and the Quantum is no different. Ok maybe that’s not true, it is different but in some great ways, one being distance is really great when hit out of the middle!

After my horribly topped tee shot my 2nd shot with the 5 wood (H13 in the picture) saved me, sure I missed the green in 2 but from 250 out I would be happy to be in the same Zip code much less pin high.

Played Jekyll Island last weekend with @will and we all had a par 4 green we were able to drive. I actually got there with my Quantum Max 3-wood, then 3-putt for par (The pin locations were tough that day). Solid 3-wood shot and there was never a doubt.

Since it’s still cold and wet here, who can tell me of a specific shot where they know the step sole was doing work?

At the hideaway with the 3w I hit a nuke @Michael.Sandoval33 can tell you the distance he swears it went as far as he said. My only thought before I let it fly was just advance it as far and as straight as possible and wedge up and on. Well sir the step cut right through that rough and sent that CTX on a ride. I hit a few good shots that day but that was the one that stands out and made me a step sole was doing work! The ball got up fast and just kept going I thought I was just short of the green until I got up there and the Callaway guys were laughing and said I hit on the front 1/3 and ran just off the back. Step sole does its work in the thick stuff quite well

last round after topping a tee shot I smashed a 3w out of the mud that didn't come close to digging

Man, I am inclined to say every shot but that's just too easy. The one that comes to memory was a shot during my previous round where I was about 175 yards out of the dirt. I was deciding between laying up with a 7i and playing it safe or going for it with my 7w. I decided on the latter because I had faith it wouldn't dig as much as my 7i would. Sure enough, I took a 3/4 swing with the 7w and picked it clean out of the dirt and on to the front side of the green. I was stoked on it, I had been hitting irons well which is why I was decidedly in between clubs. But I made the right choice. 7w for the win.

i seent it GIF

I was there! I can attest to the fact that nobody thought it was a realistic shot but I'll be damned if this mofo didn't clear the house with that shot.

That 9w out of the fairway bunker was pretty solid to bro!

I don’t know that I can tell you of any one specific shot but that over the course of the last couple of months playing in soggy conditions I’ve yet to have a shot that I got stuck in the ground. I can be pretty steep at times and take a decent divot even with a fairway wood in my hands, and on wet dormant fairways that just makes things worse. To have not got penalized yet tells me the step sole works.

Looking at the entire Callaway lineup, the only thing I would change is to make the high lofted fairways adjustable. That's it. I've looked at and tried everything they have and its the only think I see.
