Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

That 9w out of the fairway bunker was pretty solid to bro!
How could I forgot that shot! And it's not even the only crazy 9w shot that I've had 😂

Golf Galaxy was offering me more trade in value than Callaway so ran down to the local store and picked this up.

Was able to buy and get it regripped for less than $80. Straight into the bag for my round this weekend.

Played Jekyll Island last weekend with @will and we all had a par 4 green we were able to drive. I actually got there with my Quantum Max 3-wood, then 3-putt for par (The pin locations were tough that day). Solid 3-wood shot and there was never a doubt.

That was such a great shot. That 3 wood has been money for you!

It's such a weapon. Easy to hit and launch. What shaft does it have?

Just the stock Frost Silver 70g. I was feeling spicy yesterday and didn't want to wait for a fitting. If I don't love the shaft I have others I can swap in. I historically get along with Callaway's stock offerings in FWs and hybrids too, played the Denali line for a bit the last two years as well, so it wasn't a hard choice.

Also I know it's been said in all the Quantum threads but these might legit be Callaway's best stock headcovers ever. I usually use non-OEM covers for a couple of reasons but these are so nice and I love the grab handle/fold at the top.

I set up to the ball for whatever reason Ford pressed it and tapped the ball for off a spot and still swung contact was OK. Just a big push to the right because the ball position was way too far forward. Really nice distance until the tree got in the way.

I was fit at ECPC using a Denali. I like that shaft in a fw. My fitter put me in a way nicer shaft he said I would like based on me doing well the Denali.

Didn't get along with it in the driver, but it has been all I could ask for and then some in the woods. I'm not saying something else might work better, but in terms of a stock offering. Solid as hell. Combined with the step sole and speed wave, the launch window is awesome.

I agree with your headcover comment as well, I call it a "snatch'em" cover. Just yoink that bad boy 😂

For those who came from Ai Smoke or Elyte fairways, how different does the upgraded Step Sole feel through the turf? I’m noticing the Quantum seems to glide a little easier on tighter lies.

Not really much to report today for this. Only hit it once. The sound is really nice. Not dull but more of a "thump" type sound. I hit it out of the rough and tried basically a trick shot with it. For the most part I was able to work it left to right (intentionally) and it stayed in play. Maybe more update after tomorrows round.

I'm starting to truly love my 3w and 5w off the tee. I know a good swing will give me a draw and plenty of distance in separate ways. The 5w comes out high and soft. The 3w is a penetrating low draw that was needed today into the wind.

This was my best fw off the tee today. Into a strong headwind and it got under it with plenty of roll. 247 yards! My best tee shot ever on this scary, and least favorite hole on my home course.

I've been thinking about, and saving some trade in clubs for a mini driver at some point. But I might just keep the 3w if I keep improving with it off the tee.

Got the Quantum Max 11 wood regripped with WellMXS Hyper grip and was using it again on the Skytrak this morning and man this club is just fun. It’s hilarious looking down at a wood with this much loft. It’s so easy to hit and it lifts the ball so easily. The launch and spin are great and I have no doubts that hitting and holding on greens is going to be simple. Cannot wait to get this out on the course.

The speed off the face is top notch. I don't hit fairways well and know there will be ups and downs with it but even on mishits I am staying more toward target than my fairway uses previously

I'm looking forward to finding out. I know it's nails from light rough.

Standard length? :geek:

No spots to hit 5W that wouldn't have been short selling myself yesterday. Will definitely be hitting this in the sim this week though.

Did not have either of the aforementioned woods, but I can attest to how the Quantum is a missile launcher off of hardpan. Shots that I think should probably come out super spinny hold true. I've also been able to get the 7w out of thick rough a few times without problem.

Man... I can't wait to find out. I have the Ai Smoke 3W, 5W, & 7W. The 5W & 7W were easy to hit. The 3W is a 3W of course. I find my Quantum 7W & 9W incredibly easy to hit but have only had them on actual grass at The Hideaway. The 9W was my best club there by far though.

I’m excited for you to find out. Soon!

I had a phenomenal day with my Quantum 3-wood this weekend. Drove another par 4 (I know we played the white tee's, but we're driving par 4's with fairways! @will).
I'm hitting 20% GIR with my Quantum 3-wood, which to me is great. I'm usually 225+ away from the green when I pull this club. This is such a beast off the tee or from the fairway!

Well done. Remind me what you gamed before? Anything specific stand out to you as the difference maker for success?

Absolutely smoked for a guy that forgot to even try it on the range haha

I want to be able to use my 3w. At my speed it should be a weapon. I’m hitting it better off the deck than off the tee which makes no sense. The club just doesn’t get stuck in the ground. Launch is simple and easy.
