Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

I want to be able to use my 3w. At my speed it should be a weapon. I’m hitting it better off the deck than off the tee which makes no sense. The club just doesn’t get stuck in the ground. Launch is simple and easy.
Tee it lower 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve tried and it flares to the right. It’s gotta be a swing flaw at impact. Off the deck it’s a really natural ball flight.

Well done. Remind me what you gamed before? Anything specific stand out to you as the difference maker for success?
Elyte Triple Diamond. Difference is forgiveness. I wanted a smaller profile, but I didn't need to play a smaller profile. I'm where I need to be.

No spots to hit 5W that wouldn't have been short selling myself yesterday. Will definitely be hitting this in the sim this week though.
The 5w is remarkable is remarkable. Absolute pounder of the ball.

I wonder if ground interaction is helping square the face up for you?

Love it.

For those who came from Ai Smoke or Elyte fairways, how different does the upgraded Step Sole feel through the turf? I’m noticing the Quantum seems to glide a little easier on tighter lies.
I'm not getting caught in the turf. It seems to glide through a little better as you mentioned. I think I tend to miss low on the face at times while hitting off the fairway. I'm not struggling to get the ball in the air with the Quantum.

Maybe. Off the tee it starts online and tails right. I need to try it upright.

Even on days where I'm drawing/hooking everything, my 3w always wants to leak right. Like to live up to its hardest club to hit reputation. Though, early returns in the sim, this might be the easiest fw to control I've ever had. I need to tinker with the hosel now that it's got a PC in it.

It’s consistent in its flight I just can’t correct it. It’s in a shoot out with a Super Hybrid at the same loft now. Nice problem to have

My 3w and 5w both go left. 5w a little too left at times. It I have to avoid that, then I open my stance and club face slightly and trynro cut it. Doesn't always work, but neither does my normal swing.

3W is supposed to be tough to hit, but the easy launch in this line should have it as a strong playable option for a wider variety of folks. I used to need ideal conditions to pull a 3W off the deck (airport runway type conditions). Now I can't wait to give it more opportunities.

Just the stock Frost Silver 70g. I was feeling spicy yesterday and didn't want to wait for a fitting. If I don't love the shaft I have others I can swap in. I historically get along with Callaway's stock offerings in FWs and hybrids too, played the Denali line for a bit the last two years as well, so it wasn't a hard choice.
I put the 70g X in the HW and its been great! I will say that I didn't like the stiff in the 60g in the driver or the fairways but that 70g X is working on the sim at least. I see 120ish peak height and descent angles consistently around 47! It's carrying 235-240 for me so it's going to be interesting to see how it and the 5w fight it out for a spot in the bag! 3w can be money when my swing is on but as of late I have been struggling with it and it hasn't been fun. Knowing what the 3w CAN do for me is why I keep fighting to make it work but a Super Hybrid is on the way so I'll have another option there. The top of the bag is just so string this year from Callaway it's hard to go wrong with anything right now!

Yeah the Frost Silver didn't work for me in the driver either, at least not in my recent round. I have options there so no biggie. I'm squarely in the 70S range based on my 3W fitting last year, so I'm hopeful that this one will work just fine. It is great in the 4H. I have a lesson today. If I'm not too gassed I may try to get some sim time this evening. Regardless I'm gonna be looking for excuses to hit the 5W my next round out.

5W used to be one of my favorite clubs before I made the switch to hybrids. Hoping I'll settle right back into it with this one. I have no doubt that it moves the ball well. I've got it set at the standard setting right now. Curious to see how it gaps with my 3W & 4H.

I need to give this some swings in less than ideal conditions just to try it out. Previous 3 woods, I always waited for perfect conditions but the tech built into the sole on this one might be the game changer.

Not only turf conditions, but hazards that might be in play with a wayward strike. Whether it be trees, bunkers, water…. I want to test the limits with this.

I hit the 9W out of bunker at the Hideaway w/ no problem. I kind of like it as it gets ball high to get over lip and still give you some distance.

I could have used that shot there. One of the wedges I was using to pitch out sideways I got a bit too greedy with and ended up in another bunker. Should have pulled wood and go for it.

I had a phenomenal day with my Quantum 3-wood this weekend. Drove another par 4 (I know we played the white tee's, but we're driving par 4's with fairways! @will).
I'm hitting 20% GIR with my Quantum 3-wood, which to me is great. I'm usually 225+ away from the green when I pull this club. This is such a beast off the tee or from the fairway!
Let it eat!!

These people didn’t pay fifty bucks to watch a tour star lay up.

Man I didn't realize you had a 9w. Anyone that pulls that 9w out of the bag and jumps in a bunker while saying "hold my beer, watch this", is my kinda guy.

And we did. Solid day with the fairway wood. I feel like it's the most workable off the turf I've ever seen in a fairway. I will be purchasing a backup because I don't think this will leave my bag. I've also done some damage to the crown due to a sandy driving range.

I remember you showing me that. That was at Jekyll, right? Wasn’t any grass left out there. Scarred or not, that thing freakin works for you. That shot Sunday on hole 14 was perfectly pin high. Couldn‘t have placed it any better. Driving par 4 greens with a fairway wood is fun!
