Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

Pulled the 3 wood twice today. Really wasn't expecting to hit the green from 260 yards but was literally 2 paces short. The launch with the Quantum max 3w is just about automatic

Played this morning and on the back 9 I completely lost my iron swing. Couldn't hit anything. Only club I hit greens with on approach was my trusty 9W. At one point I looked at my buddy and said "can't shank and iron if you don't hit an iron." 180 out.. 9W. 160 out... 9W. Literally only greens in reg I hit were because of that club.

I have an 11W in my cart on Callaway website right now. Just deciding what to trade in at this point. Less irons in the bag the better for me.

Was distance where you like to see it as well?
Hard to tell on the range but it was hitting a nice window and staying in the air long enough that I think it might have been

I know I'm in the Triple Diamond. But the 5w always performs. It's such a perfect window. The sound is majestic.

This is my favorite club of the Quantum line.

Shoutout Callaway as I took advantage of the 2x trade-in on last day to get an 11W. I wanted the Vanquish shaft I was fitted into @ ECPC (have and love in my 7W & 9W) so it said it would be 5-7 days before it shipped. I ordered it on 9/7 which was the Labor Day holiday. Got a notice on 9/9 that it had already shipped and I was hitting it this evening at the range. Amazing how quick it got here and now I will have it for this weekend in NJ.

As for the club... my God this will be fun. Just another weapon to have in the bag and I no longer have 4/5/6 irons in there. Give me all the FWs.

That’s quick!
Love to hear that you like it already!

So fast... Hit about 10-15 balls w/ it and it's going to be fun.

Hit 3 wood twice today. both were stinkers. Tried to hard. The ball went high and left of target. Not sure if I stayed back on the ball or just had it to far forward. The launch for these fairway woods is insane. They need absolutely zero help putting the ball in the air

I had a few beautiful high bombs with the 9W on Friday. The young gun I was playing with was impressed as well :D I told him he should consider some of these old man clubs :ROFLMAO:

Set this one up perfectly in the middle of the fairway.

Damn man. That’s like 202 freedom yards.

There's a bit of roll probably, because that's hit over a crest. But it's pretty damn consistently a 175-180m club for me. And lands so softly that I can actually atrack greens with it. Like here, after a botched drive, I made it to a very elevated green and stopped in about 5feet.

I love my 9 wood, i can carry that thing 170 yards easily, and when it gets nuked 185ish.

I've been using it less out of certain ultra thick or sloped lies in the rough, opting for a steep 8 iron instead, but for most cleanish lies, it's 9 wood all the way when I need a 'get it down there' club.

Now that I'm getting used to it, the Quantum Max 9W + Powercore White 8S tipped to play like an X is a fantastic combo.

I'm on the record as having said I loved my previous fairways (DS-Adapt 3HF & 7w) a great deal and honestly wound up with a Quantum 5w & 7w more because of the 2X trade-in earlier this year because it was the least expensive way for me to get into PowerCore with my fairways. Having said that, they are remaining in my bag because they are really just that easy to hit. I have a great deal of confidence in both clubs, but the 5w has been the biggest surprise for me. I am a huge fan of the 7w, but the 5w has given me easier launch than the 3HF did and this is allowing me to not lose distance even though I added a bit of loft to the equation. These fairways are very fast, are a breeze to hit off the turf, elevate with very little issue, and give me a fighting chance from distances that were previously an automatic lay-up. I ended my last round with an approach playing 234y after catching a tree with my drive, pulled 7w, hit a nice high draw at the green, and found my golf ball about 6 paces from the pitch mark. The Quantum fairways have been a lot of fun and are proving to be ridiculously playable.

Loving the 11 wood. Did me well in NJ. Great option on the 170 yd ish par 3's. These FWs just sky so high and drop in.

I shouldn't be trying the things I do with the 5w. But I find i so easy to work either way and get height if I need it. Such an easy fw to hit.

3w back in play for some longer par 5s. Plus I love my Ballyhack headcover so it needs to be in the bag

The 5W Max D has been a recent addition to the bag. I love having one long club that can produce a reliable draw - this fits that bill so well for me. It’s not a hook monster by any means. It just gets the ball up quickly with an anti right bias. It’s opening up some new shot options for me that I haven’t been able to pull off before putting this in play.

It baffles me that I haven't found the same success with a Callaway Quantum fairway wood when I love the driver so much. Now that some of these are hitting Callaway Pre-Owned I might need to give them another try before the snow falls.

They have been the easiest to hit fws I've ever owned. I've had some good ones the past few years, but the Quantums give me a confidence the others don't.

To be fair, I feel my swing and ball striking have improved with fws in that same time frame.

Gave the 3w a couple of cracks today practicing and there is no reason at all it shouldn't be in the bag. Absolutely the easiest fairway to launch and control i have ever used.

The Quantum fairways are likely the easiest to hit fairways I've experienced to date. Effortless to get the golf ball airborne, turf interaction is great, and retention of consistent ball speed and spin on off-center strikes make these a ton of fun to hit.

Super easyy to use today on the range today. Forced myself to go after one with some friendly banter on the fun about driving distance. I didn't expect to get it to 258 carry but here we are. Not sure where they go from there to improve on this fairway and hybrid lineup

Struggled with this club the last time out. 100% on me and not the club, have a 3W and for whatever reason on set up the shaft felt so long to where I felt like I had to stand far away from the ball. However looking back on it, I was still getting decent carry even on bad strikes. The ball was much lower than expected but would go straight and about 75% of the expect distance. I had no business getting those results with the swing I was putting on it.

Earlier this year I got a 7w to have some confidence hitting in to greens from farther out than I'd like to be after something like a bad tee shot or a silly long par 3. But I didn't get that opportunity many times so it turned in to a second shot club for me when my 5w was struggling and a tee shot option on certain holes where distance wasn't needed at all, accuracy was.

It became such a do it all club. But twice in the past two nine hole rounds I've played, I had the exact situation that I bought it for pop up. Perfect yardage in to a green (par 5s, not bad tee shots lol), and both times i hit it perfect and landed, and stayed, on the green. To be able to create that flight/launch with a fairway wood is absolutely insane to me. Seeing it do exactly what I got it for, when it had used for a bunch of other shots up to this point, was awesome. Knowing I can hit a distance relatively reliably instead of having to lay up, has been really nice.

Quantum 7w for the win this year!
