The hybrid is at a unique crossroads right now, at least as far as golf equipment’s never-ending carousel of trends is concerned. Once considered one of the biggest breakthroughs in years, making life easier for golfers who struggle with the demands of long irons, it also nearly swept higher-lofted fairway woods into irrelevance. Since then, […]

I'm not even gaming a hybrid right now and I think these are exciting...lol

The Max looks sooo clean.

As one of the East Coast guys I woke up early to join the chat. As one of the first to get to use the new lineup ask questions if needed. Some review stuff coming shortly.

Callaway Hybrids have been the only hybrids I have gotten along with, seeing some of these tweaks, I might need to have a look at these on the top end, as my 5 Iron has been crap lately. Loving the new tweaks to the step sole as someone with a steeper swing.

Quantum Hybrid: Concealed weights that appear more backwards with a sleeker profile.

Elyte Hybrid: Weights very close to the perimeter of the sole plate in the toe and heel

Quantum is a smaller headed hybrid with weights less drastically towards the heel and toe. The head of the Quantum is smaller in depth so the weights appear further back off of the face. In an unscientific measurement, its really a push.

Sound: This was a wash for me. I can't really hear a difference. Both feel soft off the face and hold the line as expected from the rather stellar hybrids of Callaway's lineage

Ball Flight: I set the lofts at as close as I could. I used the 4H shaft so swing weight can be argued if you choose to talk to yourself. The Quantum felt like it launched slightly higher though the numbers said it didn't. The peak height was 6 feet higher and spin just slightly less.

Distance: The forward flight on the Quantum yielded significantly more distance regardless of the lofts being the same. The flight for the Quantum was also midline towards the target. The Elyte has served me well and will compete for the 4H spot, but it has NO CHANCE of taking the lone hybrid spot in the bag.

Bump and Run: yes its odd at this loft but I will putt with these clubs through crazy turf conditions against the grain. Kinda a wash. They both function really well for what they are needed for.

Workability: Its a middle of the bag hybrid that is capable if YOU are capable. Results will very on attempt. I've been able to do it but I can't do it every shot

It really has a clean look to it. It is smaller than the Elyte. It doesn't have to be measured to see it. Fun part is that the launch conditions didn't suffer because of it

The Step-Sole design is present here. The smaller head makes it less obvious than the fairway woods

Great write up @Jman I really like the sound of the updates to the speed wave 2.0 and the step sole and as a player who looks for more forgiveness I appreciate that Callaway offers it's hybrids in 3 - 8h.

Thought I will say that all three hybrids having Max in the name seems unnecessary.

I ended up with 2 different hybrid models in the bag.

Quantum Max OS 4h
Quantum Max 5h

My main takeaway across the entire Quantum line is easy launching and solid feel. The hybrids are no exception.

The Quantum Max OS is closer in size to the Elyte lineup and will give you more confidence looking at a larger head.

The Quantum Max hybrid is more compact and I feel I can go after a number.

Here they are in comparison to the Elyte 3h

Possibly the best shaping of a hybrid to my eye, in years.
Ball flies off the face, which I expect in some really good hybrids this year, but it just looks so perfect to my eye.

I have the Max 4 hybrid paired with the MMT shaft and there is so much confidence in this club right now.

The Max hybrid is one of the best looking hybrids behind the ball I’ve seen. The fact it performs even better than the Elyte hybrid did for me is just an added bonus.

Great job on the article @Jman

My fitter hooked me up with shafts. I have Graphite Design Tour AD DI's in both hybrids and fairway woods. So smooth.

And I also love the shaping. The smaller profile of the standard Quantum Max 5h had me slightly concerned at first, but I think I like it more than the OS.

I don’t need new hybrids. I don’t need new hybrids. I don’t need new hybrids. I don’t need new hybrids.

Something big to mention is how much attention was paid to making sure the new hybrids blended with the Quantum irons. Is was important to Callaway to be able to offer sets that included both the iron and hybrid.

My feelings on the use of Max everywhere are well known as well, hahaha

Still, they’re good looking hybrids for sure

They went maximum effort on the max this year.

The size difference and sole difference between the Elyte and Quantum Max was pretty eye opening to me when I put them side by side. I also greatly appreciate how much more subtle the branding is on the crown.

My 4H (paradyme x) last season became an asset in my bag after mediocre results for a while (choked up a bit 🤯) so I’ve been pondering another to replace the 5 iron spot. These will definitely get some testing.

I feel this post deeply.

The step sole and sizing on these is really interesting to me. Combine that smaller presentation with higher lofts where I like to play hybrids and my attention is gained.
