Callaway X-Hot & X-Hot Pro Driver Preview Thread

I figure I'll go ahead and throw this up here. I'll be doing the frontpage review on the XHot driver, so, if you have ANY questions please don't hesitate to ask me!

I have a question for you. I went to Dick's to look at the X hot and pro version drivers. The pro at Dick's told me the draw bias will have little effect on my natural draw flight. He wants me to come back and try the X Hot driver but will not have the pro version any time soon. I'm hesitant to waste his and my time with a fitting as I have always been under the assumption that a draw biased driver would turn my draw into some ugly hooks. Assuming you have hit both versions, do you have any comment on the draw biased effect on your ball flight? thank you in advance

I've played the XHot for a long while now and lots of rounds. I was worried about the draw bias weighting as well, but I can honestly tell you no I really think I shouldn't have been. My flight stays on line draw or far without any real draw accentuation that I personally have seen. Haven't hit the pro yet, but want to.

Awesomeness is required to be a member of Jake Nation sir. :alien:

I'll have some time in with the stock shaft for it for sure

Is it the red PXv or the blue one? Say blue say blue say blue!

Do you happen to have an extra LH head laying around? I would gladly give you some feedback on it. JK Jman. Looking forward to the review.

You KNOW I would hook you up too! Haha

Hahaha...I know you would buddy. At least with my fade and your draw we have a similar ball flight.

Its the red one buddy, sorry!

You mean the one you sold me or more like gave? I'm still excited about this purchase. I really want to hit outdoors but too much of a wuss to hit in the cold Chicago weather.

No sir! Not that particular one! :act-up:

I hit this thing again yesterday and came away unimpressed yet again. MY golf swing is awful right now though so take it for what its worth the club just felt dead to me.

Bummer. That I had a review piece.

After hitting everything under the sun and deciding on the razr fit extreme with an oban devotion 6... I stumbled upon the x hot pro... Boy I'm sure happy the Rfx fell through. The head on this pro is HOT.. I'm a high spin player and I've hovered around 3800rpm..(8.5* ft iz tour with epic nano fuse) the pro coupled with the project x dropped my spin to 2950. I was carrying 250-265 before with little roll out. During my fitting/trying out, I carried the pro 278-286... Roll out to 300-308. I hit one 319. My swing speed is right at 105... It seemed like the quicker my tempo the further it went.. I'm now in driver heaven. Great club by callaway.

p.s. the 3 wood (non pro model) is a cannon I just need to save up some duckies.

Which head/shaft did you hit in the X Hot Pro (8.5, 9.5 or 10.5 -- 6.0, 6.5)??

I know you are getting this driver but it sounds like you have not found one to hit yet. Want to see some 4Wigs feedback once you are able to grab one. What progress are you making? Slim or None ?

I hit this today and while it was long, the thing that most impressed me was the feel of the ball off the face. The ball seriously just EXPLODES off the face. It might be the BEST feeling driver I have ever hit. The face just seems like a launching pad. Distance numbers were very good but the feel is what would bring me to game this if given the funds or opportunity hahaha.

Funny you should ask. Got one in my hands that was delivered today. Pics to come...

8.5 pro head project x 6.0 stiff. I have it as we speak. The above post is correct. The ball feels like it explodes off the face. It was not at all what I was planning on buying but man this thing performs. Range tomorrow, early morning round Sunday. I'll post back another review. To this point it's been all monitor.

2013 Callaway X Hot PRO Driver

2013 Callaway X Hot PRO Driver

Ok mods, you may want to combine this with the Callaway X Hot Driver thread. I'll leave that up to you.

This club has been like a unicorn for me. I wound up just ordering the 10.5* with a 6.5 shaft after speaking with Callaway numerous times at length about the club, my swing, my current setup and my expectations. My initial impressions are positive. I like the clean looks. The pictures that follow are of the driver set in the S (standard) position. I prefer the look of the driver in the O (open) position and that is where I set it post photo-op. The weight seems really nice, light enough but still substantial. One thing I don't particularly care for is the color of the shaft. It seems to make it look like a really long way down to the head (maybe a skin is in order?). The shaft, from a waggle, has quite a bit of play in it. So the jury is still out on that until I hit it. I can tell you that I will be removing the grip and butt-trimming it to a playing length of 45.25" this weekend (then re-install the grip obviously).

There are my initial impressions. I'll post more as facts, opinions and thoughts come to mind...

Have you not hit it yet? I'm curious how much difference you find in the current 6.5 in your i20, and the new 6.5 in the XHot!

I wish, it's freakin' snowing here. Gonna be a day or five... Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Great and congrats on your journey. Read some of your preliminary opinions, surprised that you feel the 6.5 to be a little loose. Maybe going down to 45.25 will correct some of that unless you are one of those high swing speed long drive specialists known to operate out of Johnson City, TN!!! Look forward to seeing your personal evaluations on this one
