Growing up with a grandfather who owned a farm we learned to drive stick early, so I never have it much thought to not being able to till I was older. So can you? How many of you still own a manual?

Yes I can and owned a manual for awhile. Now I’m all for automatic and most people I know don’t know how to drive a stick.

I learned to drive on a stick. It was a 1980 Honda Accord. We borrowed a car to take the driving test just because it was a little easier in an automatic. I drove exclusively standards until 2010 when I was sitting in traffic more and made the switch to automatics.

I would like to have a toy car at some point that is a stick. I feel kind of like a bad parent that my kids can’t drive a stick but almost nobody has them anymore.

Love a manual car. In the process of buying a classic mustang stick shift.

I haven’t driven one in around 40 years.

Can. Learned in a hayfield. Had to do that too many years of my life.

I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a spork than do it ever again.

I can drive a stick, and owned 2 manuals (VW and Saturn). I last drove a stick maybe 8 years ago, and it was a doozy - I hadn't driven one in probably 15 years prior and had to drive a stick VW from Dayton OH back here to MA when a parent we were chaperoning with took ill and wasn't able to drive back on his own.

They're fun to drive, but in limited doses. I have no desire to go back to driving one on a daily basis.

You know - I honestly don't know!

The last golf course I worked at, we had a few Gator UVs that were manual. They were really easy/forgiving to drive. I don't know how that really compares to a car.

I understand the concept of a manual and how to do it, but actually doing it in practice with a real car is a different thing.

I’m can, but it’s been a few years since I had to.

Yes and have owned a few. Although, none of my kids who drive could.

Learned to drive on a manual and my first 4 or 5 cars were manual.

You also don't race cars on a road course with an auto.

Nope. Only tried it once in a friend’s car. No thanks, I’m not a multitasker 🤣

Yep. Been actually thinking about getting one in whatever I get next..

Yes. It's fun until a traffic jam on hilly roads.

Yes. I got to learn on other peoples cars when I worked at Circuit City.

Like I stole it.

You couldn't pay me enough to go back to one though.

I've driven manual in the past but it's been 15+ years. So i could but i'd be rusty for sure.

I know some may argue, but automatics have gotten so good they generally outperform manuals. So the idea of a manual is just generally for the fun of it IMO

My car now has paddle shifters that are pretty good.

Had a VW, a Nissan 300Z and a Mazda B2000 with manual trannies. Drove a BIL's 5.0 Mustang a few years ago and it all came back to me in a few seconds.

Cars only - started with a 3 speed Mustang in the 60's, to 5 speed BMW 3 Series, then 6 speed in a BMW 3 series until early 2023. The BMW i4 is smooth and no more high traffic clutching.... ugh

I can but it’s been a while.

I can and I enjoy doing it but don't own anything with a manual now except the motorcycle.

I want them to bring it back in all cars. I miss switching gears and popping through LA traffic.

I drive an 18 speed all the time. But I learned on a twin stick 5 speed with a 4 speed aux. Either do a good job at 160,000# GVW.
Given my choice, city driving I'll take an Allison Severe Duty all day long.
Off road I prefer a 15 speed, the bottom 10 being deep reduction.
Never drive a regular 18 wheeler, but if I did OTR it would be a 13 speed.
Go fast cars the auto is faster, but the stick is more fun. 5 speed, 6 speed, whatever....

Absolutely not. Never been in the driver seat of a manual vehicle.
