Can you drive a standard (manual)

Yes. I learned to drive in a pickup with three on the tree, and have owned a few manual cars over the years. Also got to drive Mustang 5.0 GT 4-speeds and 5-speeds at work any time I wanted to. No interest in ever owning a manual transmission car again, though.

Yes. First car was an MGB. And two cars ago had a manual VW Passat. Those days are behind me now, though.

I haven't driven one in quite a few years, but yes I could still drive one.

I don't still own one, but I can absolutely drive a manual and sometimes I miss it

My first vehicle was manual. I haven't driven one in a few years, but after getting the feel of the clutch I don't think I'd have a problem.

I grew up in a manual but it has probably been 20 years since I last drove one.

My first automatic was the 4 Runner I bought 5 years ago, everything else manual since 1986. I don’t sit in bumper to bumper traffic much and got 225K out of my last clutch.

I prefer it for longevity, but I think most manufacturers have dropped them. Clutch is one part that either works or doesn’t. Automatics end up doing all kinds of stupid things when they get old in my experience.

as a matter of fact, when i left home in 1976 i was driving a 1969 Rambler 3 speed column shift

Learned to drive that way. Dad took me to a road in a neighborhood that hadnt started with a huge hill and nothing to damage and started at the bottom. Had to stop every 30ft or so and go again.

I can and have driven a stick a lot.
My mom broke her pinky toe when I was 11 and the only way we were getting around for a few weeks was if I learned, so I did lol

Yep. Learned how to drive in a manual and took my behind the wheel test in one too.

Can. Learned in a hayfield. Had to do that too many years of my life.

I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a spork than do it ever again.
The hayfield or the manual or both.

Yes and I miss it. Was fun driving the manual in Poland last year.

Why I prefer an Allison for some applications. Sometimes your hands are a little busy to be rowing your own gears.

Can. Have no desire to. Give me a modern automatic with hybrid shifting any day of the week.

Three on the tree or four or five on the floor. Drove cars, trucks and a couple vans that were standard. I haven't had a standard in twenty or more years. I do still have an itch for a jeep so maybe in my future.

I miss mine at times. It's a fun way to drive, just not all the time.

I’m the same, it’s not as convenient but is a lot of fun every once in a while.

Never been without a manual transmission car - and I am 78 yr old .. so that is a lot of cars.
right now I have 4 cars - 2 Corvettes with 6 speed manuals, and a 1980 Mercedes SL with a 4 Speed manual... and the auto is a X5.
I hope when I am 90 I still drive a manual. Sad part is they do not make Corvettes anymore with a manual which sucks.

I can - I haven't had one since like 1999.

Fun to drive on the highway, pain in the ass to drive in traffic.

Yes - learned to drive in one and had manual cars for quite a while.

Now we have a mix of auto and manual cars on the drive between me, my wife and the kids, so I'll switch between the two but I'm mainly auto now.

My Audi TT does have flappy paddles and so I can play with those if I want to really control which gear I'm in but auto boxes are way better than they were when I learned.

Nope. Never learned how and don’t see a reason to now.

I can drive one and first car was a manual. It’s now been probably 10 years since I last drove one. While not the best for daily commuting, a lot of fun to drive.

Yep. Learned when I was a wee lad, my 1st couple cars were stick shift. Proud to say my Man Card is still valid
