Can you drive a standard (manual)

Forgot one... :ROFLMAO:

I can drive anything. Standard, or automatic, it doesn't matter.

Heck, I have a friend who taught me to take off, fly, and land a plane. I probably have 200+/- hours. Just never took the time to get my license.

There is definitely an added sense of control or just driving when using a stick shift.

They are very common here and most vehicles do have them, thankfully...maybe?

Yes. Had a few back in the day.
That being said, it’s been a solid 25-30 years.
I wouldn’t want one these days unless it’s a sports car. Which I don’t see.

Can? Yes.

Want to? Hell no.

I learned to drive on a manual. Had one a few years ago but it was super inconvenient because my wife couldn’t drive it, so had to get something else

Oh aye, automatics only really became common place probably about 10 years ago in the UK. Before that, auto gearboxes were expensive upgrades.
I learned in a 1 litre Nissan micra with 4 forward gears. A lot of fun!

Learned on a stick and have owned a few of them. My current vehicle is a stick. It's my anti theft vehicle

Yep, great anti-theft device because probably over 50% of the population wouldn't know how to drive it.

Yes I can drive a manual transmission car and I never want to do it again. There is no upside in having a manual transmission in a modern car.

The last time was around 1990. Is it like riding a bike?

Can and do it a few days a week at work. Have not owned a car with stick in at least 35 years.

I learned to drive on a manual, always had something with a manual, and still have one with a manual.

When our kids were learning to drive it was in cars with a manual. That's all they drove for years. When they were new drivers it kept them busy and focused on the task at hand.

It's kind of sad that manuals are pretty much going away.

Yes; a standard is a lot more fun to drive and requires one to remain engaged in driving, rather than multi-tasking.

Yes sir. Everything from a 3-on-a-tree to a twin stick 18 speed.

I learned to drive on a standard, though I’ve never owned one outside of a race car.

I learned initially at the age of 14 to drive a 3 on the tree then later in life owned a couple of 5 speed manual cars. It is fun but driving in rush hour stool and go traffic gets tiresome very quickly. Both my sons learned to drive a manual before they officially got their licenses.

Also did a lot of driving in the UK driving a 5 speed which I initially thought was going to be difficult but with the shift locations in same spot as North American vehicles, it was actually quite easy albeit using left hand.

I haven't owned a manual since I got married 34 years ago (wife couldn't get the hang of it). Did drive my high school buddy's '06 C6 Z06 Corvette last year, the spring loading in the shifter felt strange but otherwise, no problem. I'd love to have a manual again but at my age, it's harder to get out of lower-slung cars so it's either SUVs or pickup trucks.

My first car was a beat of old Ford with manual transmission. Loved it.

It might take a minute to get reacquainted but my first 4/5 cars were manu transmissions. Oh wait I haven’t had one since the early 90 s and my muscle memory sucks now so maybe not.
