Can you drive a standard (manual)

I can and I hate it. I live in stand still traffic on a mountainous area. Not doing myself that way

I generally don't know... it's been at least 25-30 years. Is it like riding a bike?

My motorcycle:

I also tested the rev limiter in a few gears. 2009 Kawasaki Concours 1400, 1st gear, I hit the rev limiter at about 62 mph, 2nd gear was around 93 mph and 3rd gear was over 120 mph.

I quit while I was ahead and didn't attempt the other gears.

When I was searching for my first Ranger, I knew what options I wanted and whatever transmission was in it didn't matter. When I ultimately found the truck, it had a manual transmission so I taught myself on a brand new truck. And I put almost 200,000 miles on the clutch before I traded it. That was 1997 and I drove stick until I'd had enough in 2009.

I haven't touched one since, but I'm pretty confident I haven't forgotten

Yes. I have a 199& wrangler that is a manual. I learned on a 1981 dookie brown Datsun pickup when I was 15.

Learned on a 50's model Volkswagen and drive an 03 Cobra today.

Yes. How did I learn? I got a job at 17 delivering for the local liquor store, the car was manual. The owner was cool as ****, did not teach me - just handed me the keys and said you'll figure it out.

Anyhow....My first new vehicle was a manual and I taught my wife and her brother how to drive a manual transmission on it.

Like others, I also rode motorcycles - but, is that what we are talking about here?

Manual car? No.
Maual motorcyle/trike? Yes lol

I can, but I don't own one.

Yes. I learned to drive on one, and it’s all I owned for 10 years. I haven’t had a manual car for about 10 years now, but do miss them at times.

I can, but have not done so in quite a few years.

I learned to drive with a standard and wish more cars had them today

Never had to, never want to

I can and much prefer it, but haven't had it as an option on the last couple of cars I've bought.

Yeah. Owned two standard vehicles for a total of 20 years and about 300,000 miles.

It's been 16 years since, but I'm sure it'd come back to me.

I bought my first 5 speed when I was 19. I had to drive it very slowly to my best friend's house and made him teach me. I've had:
Firebird V6-5 speed
GMC Sonoma 5 speed
Pontiac Formula 6 speed
Pontiac Ram Air 6 speed
Corvette 6 speed
And my current driver is manual 6 speed

I wish my Delorean was an M5, but it's an auto. Kind of had to take what I got with that.

I havent owned a manual car in ages.
I went through a lot of cars in the 70's and 80's. Most notable were:
I learned in a '71 225 slant six Dodge Demon.
Had a 1965 426 max wedge Fury 4 speed
A 1971 340 Demon 4 speed
A 1965 Sunbeam Tiger, Ford 289, 4 speed
A '65 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed

I was a kid,. in the 70's and early 80's 65's were cheap and pretty cool already...
The max wedge could more than hold its own with any hemi on the street, more horses and torque at lower RPM.

I also had a 65 Sunbeam Tiger- wish I'd hung onto it.

I've owned and driven manuals all of my life. Learned to drive with three on the tree in an International Jeep in 1975 (underage). The last manual I had was a Mini CooperS, sold it about eight years ago.

It's what I learned to drive in, and was in the next 5 cars I owned. Then I started dealing with daily traffic and realized there was a simpler way to go about my daily commute.

Well yes ,
