Fairways and Greens
A couple of random comments after attending Friday's round at Tucson National:
-Nearly all the "old" top players are still in good shape and while not at PGA tour speed, hit everything solid. Pavin, Langer, Mize, Kite, Toms, Mayfair (lost a lot of weight) for example. Exceptions are Calc, Parry, Frost.
-Very few have OEM equipment sponsors. Mostly stand bags with no equipment names. Very few hats with OEM equipment names.
-Rocco no longer a PXG guy. Did not hear about that. He had all PXG last year.
-Pavin uses Jet Speed driver.
-Very few using Taylormade, but a few M2s seen. Fair amount of Callaway (Epic) and Titleist.
-Couples still long and makes it look easy.
-90 degree day and the first tee times were 10:30am. Kind of crazy since the best playing weather is 7am to 10am.
-Stricker looks comfortable and I predict will be a big plus for this tour.
-Guy named Short had 7 birdies, no bogeys and a 9 on a par 3.
-You can identify players from this era just by seeing their swings.
