chip shortage for new cars

We were excited to buy our son a new car for his graduation and came to realize there's a chip shortage and basically you can't buy a new car easily. Does anyone which brands are not affected by this?

All brands are effected, that’s why the used car price’s are so high.

Toyota seems to be the least affected. Also, base or entry level models seems to be more available as well. This will not subside for at least six months, likely a year.

Every new car lot around here is empty. It is pretty wild to see no inventory right now.
