Cleveland 588 Altitude Hybrid Irons Preview

This is why I'm nudging Srixon/Cleveland to consider a Tude successor designed specifically for single length. My gut says they'll wait and see how Cobra's experiment turns out.

A set of one length Altitudes would have to be the most forgiving club ever made.

If you think so, contact them and tell them that. Their customer support people are great.

Carried my 4-6 out today paired up with my B'stone ECUs in graphite and my word, the 'Tudes are back in to stay! Only thing is if I'll go back all 'Tudes or not! Prolly will. Hoping to find a 3 to match set!

I may have a 3. If you make it to a THP Event, it will be on the THP Tour Van and its yours.

Wow, thanks so much for the offer! Seems they're hard to find!

Very generous of you! Seems like the 3 is hard to come by!

Happy to help. Have some fun ones planned this year.

Ah the Altitudes.

So, I bought a set OOP for one of my HS kids who physically has some flexibility limitations that he will likely never overcome. He needed lighter, he needed LAUNCH, he needed forgiveness. I immediately thought of these with the stock graphite shaft and what they did for so many (myself included) and found a set in A-flex 4-PW.

Now, I also hit a few, and that was a mistake. Still stupidly fun and now I miss my set of heads I had been hoarding for so long. Would be fun to take some money from guys at the course now and again with them. :alien:

As for my HS'er, I think he's going to love them. They look odd as we all know, but he doesn't care, he ONLY cares about score and getting better. So into the bag they have gone, I'll update as the season goes along for those who might be curious.

As a high school golf coach myself, I wish a lot more of my kids used them as well, especially the newbies to golf. I really think they could help them out. Still have mine and rotate them in and out of the bag when I have some big matches coming up, especially match play events where hitting greens is a priority.

I hit these a lot on the range today. Shouldn't have done it.

Freaking hyrons.

I'd love to find an affordable set of these to try, but it seems I may have missed that boat.

Paid only 130 for the set I bought my HS player. They can be found cheap with patience and perseverance.

Like James said you shouldn't have any problem finding these at a good price, especially on eBay. Or, post down in the Marketplace here, I know I've seen a few sets offered recently. I picked up my combo set in VG condition last year for a whopping $170 in graphite, so they can definitely be had.

Still loving my Altitudes. The 54* SW might be my favorite of them all. At a range yesterday I got tired hitting driver so I pulled out the 54* and hit 50-60 yd pitches. Club is so easy. I hit one that I know would have been a shank with a players wedge. Ball came out a little low but still made the front of the green and rolled up by the hole. Just kinda grinned with that " I got away with one there" feeling.

Hey, that's a time where if you can get people on board with playing something that's the most forgiving thing that works for them, you've probably set them up for more fun for the rest of their golf career.

Meanwhile I'm over here thinking "Maybe I'll make the move to a players CB" because that's essentially what I grew up playing.

Yep, the nice thing is the young man in question has no ego, he knows his limitations and has passion to improve through work as well as using a club or clubs that help him shoot better scores and have more fun. He's now in these, a Niblick 49, an X2Hot 11-Wood, and a Cobra MAX 11.5 driver. Makes me happy that he sees the big picture of this game and it humbles me a little bit.

I continually played out of his bag yesterday for the Alt's and it was just as fun as I remember. Plus, what I can do with the 4 Hyron just isn't fair. I had one player refuse to even touch them, the rest though all took swings and had some fun with them.

I bought a set for my wife for all the reasons listed above. She loves them. I love them because they minimize her frustration and increase her happiness, which makes playing together more enjoyable.

I have 100% considered getting my wife a set as well for this same reason.

guys its ok.....

High, my name is xxxx.xxxxx and I have bought a set of Altitudes for my wife... er I mean for myself.

This is the first step to 'Tudes Anonymous....admitting it... :)

I'm being honest. I've bought/traded-for/owned three sets, hell I gamed them the majority of a season. But these would be perfect for the wife to have more fun.

During a round 2 seasons ago I had my Tudes in the bag and noticed a fellow I got grouped up with had the 588 MT's.

I think I shot 84 that day which is about my avg. This guy struggled to break 105. I just thought to myself, why did he buy the MT's and not the Tudes?
These irons can really help, why make the game harder.

Look at my signature they are all I need to play bogey golf (which I am happy with) just throw in my Big Bertha Fusion driver, a couple of Cleveland 588 Hybrids and my Smart Sole C&S wedges and you have the most forgiving and simple bag in golf history it just makes golf fun again,

Would be nice if Cleveland made a 2.0 version of these.

In a single length version it would be the most forgiving and accurate club ever built.

I reached out to Cleveland / Srixon a couple months ago via Facebook and they said no plans for Tudes 2.0.
