When it comes to release season for Cobra Golf it is natural that the eyes tend to first go to the drivers, especially given the brands unwavering consistency in improving performance year in and year out. With DARKSPEED in particular, they kept the industry on notice that they too are a power in golf club […]

Great writeup! These sure do look purty!

Gotta give these a swing too! Crazy how much adjustability there will be!

I’ve currently got all three models in hand for review, and have been able to get them out and about three times now, with more coming as the weather gives us a break.

Honestly, I’ve not hit a Cobra fairway in a couple generations, it’s just not fallen my way to do so, but I adored the RADSPEED Big Tour and thought the LTD X was solid. My how things change.

The LS is a freaking cannon. It’s absurd. Every bit as long as the Tour TD Callaway I’m coming from, and it flirts with my mini drivers. In fact, the deeeeep face gives me a ton of confidence to just rip it off the tee. Crisp, thumpy, HOT.

The X so far is the everypersons 3w, it’s much more usable off the deck, but still has plenty of pop off the tee. The face is noticeably more shallow, but it’s not at all a true shallow fw, the LS just makes it look so when out side by side. Really freaking delightful sound/feel too no metallic tink, but solid but robust feedback, crunchy in the best way.

The MAX clearly isn’t designed for me, but it’s one I think a ton more should look at. Off the deck it’s a riot, the shallowwwww face makes that easy and though the size is all there, it’s not cumbersome and sits really nicely at address. I think FUTUREFIT33 changes this one as far as audience, yes, it’s naturally a bit draw biased, but with the new adapter I got it set up to where the left miss wasn’t there. This one needs a chance this year if you hit FW off the deck a lot.

I’ll never be convinced that the DS LS wasn’t basically designed for me. Hahaha

That said, I’m 100% going new 3HF for the Morgan Cup.

Great write up @Jman love the graphic showing the different placements of the internal weighting.

Really excited for the DS Adapt fairways and hybrids. Can't wait to try out the Denali shafts. Going to have to try out the LS 3HL 3 wood just for fun even though it probably won't fit me, likely will be in the X's again in 3, 5 and 7 and definitely going to be looking at that new MAX 9 wood. I love playing fairway woods and the addition of the 9 wood should take the place of my darkspeed 5 hybrid.

I also can't wait to try out the new DS adapt hybrid (especially the 6 hybrid), with it being a bit larger giving Cobra more room/weight to work with I cannot wait to see the performance of these hybrids and the FutureFit33 adapter will definitely allow everyone to dial in their chosen club and get the appropriate gapping that they are looking for.

Oh those look pretty

Good write up @Jman

The dual power bridge on the LS model is interesting.

My guy, they’re a hoot.

The evolution of PWR BRIDGE here and in the drivers with when, where, and how it’s applied (or not) is pretty damn cool, so I had to throw in the visuals, def helps differentiate right?

The LS is a LOW spin behemoth. She wants to do one thing, hit the golf ball driver distances. Nice thing is with FUTUREFIT33 now, it might be able to be dialed for more golfers, negating some of the natural neutral/fade for those who need to.

Those are some sexy fairway woods. Also love hearing that you were able to get the Max setup to not see the left miss it will definitely be fun testing these out to see what makes the bag but right now I could easily see the X and the MAX both having spots in the bag (and will check out the LS HL 3 just in case ;)).

Super thorough look at these new options @Jman! I can't wait to see how all three compare over time for you.

As far as the fairways go, I think I'd look at that Max. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you put the heavier weight in the back? Did that bump up launch and height for you?

I came away from all this really wanting to give those hybrids a shot though. The adjustability just talks to me. So often you just have to accept what a hybrid is and can't make it right for you.

Rest assured I’ll be hitting LS bombs for my Captain come September.

As a huge fan and lover of the Callaway UW, would either the fairway or hybrid be a replacement for me?

The adjustments on these Woods are unbelievable. And being able to change lofts on Hybrids can save so much time and mistakes in Club choices.

Interestingly that’s how the MAX arrived, putting allllll that weight back there, it launches noticeably easier and with a higher trajectory than the other two for me for sure, it also spins a lot more, which, it should ya know?

Hoping to get some data sets done sooner rather than later with each in stock form, and then all with the Denali Black in them.

Fairways are true fairways, so that alone takes out part of what makes the UW so appealing to so many.

That said, though we don’t have them in hand yet, the DS-ADAPT hybrid being a little bigger than the DS, but not quite KING Tec size definitely hits that UW zone imo.

Yea, I'd personally want that added spin I think. A lot of people will. I think that might be the sleep option of the fairway line for Morgan Cup guys. Obviously there will be people it's just a bad match for, but so many "average" golfers this design will benefit. When you add in the ability to dial in a ball flight both up/down and left/right you have an absolute weapon.

They look really really good and the adjustability is huge. Is there any fear of maybe tinker-overload? Meaning the everyday average joe, not most of us here, could you look at things and go man this is too much? Too complicated?

I’ve only got three outings with it, but, I can safely say thanks to the new adapter, if it’s someone who hits fairways off the turf a lot, then they NEED to try the MAX.

I truly do think the FUTUREFIT33 could bring a whole new segment of people into the MAX designs, IF they try them.

Same. I think the Max name/category can get lost in the shuffle, often due to ego, but imagine a 5w or 7w for a slower player. Could make a huge difference on those longer shots.

HUGE. Especially being able to dial out some of the left for those who fear that miss.

Same goes for hybrids, this adapter in a hybrid? That could be the unsung story of the release.

Great write-up @Jman. The shape of these look really good.

Love the addition of the 3HF in the LS model, am going to have to explore this a bit as I had Darkspeed 3HF in the X model in play this past year with great success.

I think it’s a great add, makes way more sense than the strong DS option, and I love strong 3’s. But, most mortals can’t get that one airborn.

This at 16….could be a hoot.

I know a lot of people (myself included) often have some trouble with hybrids and losing them too far left, I cannot wait to get to play with the FutureFit33 adjustability on these to really dial in the hybrid.
