Cobra DS-ADAPT Fairways and Hybrids

Here is the real question for people, Outside of the new Future Fit 33 adapter, how different is the DS-Adapt from the DarkSpeed in performance?
My performance average with the DS-Adapt X 3 is +6y when compared to my Darkspeed X 3. It's not apples to apples as I have the LINQ Blue in the DS X and the Denali Blue in the DS-Adapt X, but I've seen better ball speed and better launch from the DS-Adapt. I know I can't directly compare the DS-Adapt X 7 to the DS 5, but my performance avg with the DS X 5 is +7y when compared to the DS-Adapt X 7, with my longest recorded shot being exactly the same between the two clubs (267y). I enjoyed the DS fairways, but for whatever reason the DS-Adapt has been just a bit better for my game.

I got better performance out of the darkspeeds in terms of distance. Not sure what the differences in the heads are that cause that for me, but if I had to take a guess its the darkspeeds spin less for me. Or could honestly just be the shafts I have in them. I have the HZRDUS smoke blue's in the Darkspeeds and Denali blacks in the DS adapts.
My experience was the opposite. I am seeing longer distances with the DS-Adapt, but I think its related to having better strikes and straighter flights due to the adjustability of the FF33.

I didn't have the confidence with Darkspeed 3W that I do with the DS-ADAPT. To me its been night and day difference with respect to accuracy.

I'm fine being the weird one. I had to cut the Darkspeeds shorter because they are too long for what I needed them to be. I haven't found that with the DS-adapts personally. I'm 5-10y shorter with the DS-adapts.

I have a Dark Speed 7 wood and a DS-Adapt 3 wood. Not exactly apples to apples, but I think the performance in the Dark Speed is better than the DS-Adapt. It can be down to comfortability too. I've had the 7 wood a lot longer than the 3 wood.

Yeah, Adapts are a good deal longer for me as well, right at 10 yards. A lot more user friendly too imo.

But this is why fit matters fo sho.

My DS-ADAPT X 7W is out for delivery today! I have a member game tomorrow morning, so I will probably won't put it in play and just hit it on the range after the game to get dialed in and comfortable with distances and....

Have fun dialing it in.

It’s fun when your playing partner says “what was that? It sounded fantastic”

After I hit a beauty of a 5 hybrid into the green.

And I know it’s been said before, but warrants saying it again. This adapter is awesome. I can hit draws with a 3w thanks to the adapter. Never been able to do that before.

Tinkering season has commenced, so thanks to the inclusion of mini to the bag, I am now going to give the DS Adapt X 5 wood playing in G3 (-2° of loft) some run, initial results have it playing similar to a 4 wood, which should allow for decent gaping between the mini and the hybrid.

hope it was a good day

Got my 3W on Friday. It was getting dark at the range so it wasn't a great session. I plan to go hit tomorrow as well so I'll get a beter demo but I think the 3W is definitely a winner over the QI35. It launches so well for a guy of my moderate swing speed. It does have me in strong ponder mode to add the 5W as well to fill that gap.

Played 18 this past weekend in a Charity scramble and these DS Adapt X woods are so good. The 3HF got used off a couple tee boxes where using driver is too much and risks putting you in a bad position. Off the tee or fairway the 3XF is just easy to elevate and hit straight.

The DS Adapt X 7 wood is my favorite club in the bag. I have faith anytime I pull it that a good shot is coming. I don’t even need to think about it just pull it, pick a target in the distance, swing and watch the ball take off towards that target. It’s as close to an easy button as Possible have in my golf bag.

The DS Adapt Max 9 wood has been a fantastic addition to the bag. It launches even quicker than the X woods in my bag. I have needed to use the FF33 to drop the loft to get it going the distance I wanted from the 9 wood but it slots in perfectly after the adjustments to the FF33 adapter.

The DS adapt 6 hybrid has been another club that while it isn’t getting pulled as often as some of n the bag when I am in its distance range I pull it with confidence. The ball launches high and quickly. It’s been good from any lie I’ve encountered. It’s even been valuable greenside with some bump and runs from greenside rough. The FF33 adapter made taking the occasional hook I would see easily out of play. This group of woods and hybrids are some of the best that I have played.

7W is unfair.

It’s quite literally unfair how far I hit this damn thing, especially given how consistently I hit it.

I think next week I’m going to play a round from 6600 with JUST my 7W as the only non iron tee club.

Probably gonna shoot par

I wish I hit mine that far. but at least it's silly consistent for me. So much damn fun to hit. Definitely gets the ball up quick as intended.

I wish I hit my driver that far 😂

Completely out of left field my Adapt 4 hybrid has gone from my least favorite to now one of the most consistent clubs in my bag. 210 baby fade all day.

Golf is weird.

Hitting the 7W indoors a little today since I decided no outdoors golf was happening.

The distance is just silly at this point. BUT, the realization is that the key for me with it has been me committing to not only the setup I put in it as well as using FF33 to turn it down and open it up a bit, but learning to flight it.

I can hit it stock, which is towering, and I can also flatten it out a decent amount (still HIGH haha). With that in the bag, its become silly useful.

I never thought that anything would ever unseat my OG UW.

Another spectacular day with the Hybrid today and it's truly perplexing me. I had three shots with it yesterday that I absolutely had to have.

First was a recovery from a stright push drive that put me in the tree line. I needed a 200y peeler cut that started 10y right and worked it's way back. I stepped up and hit exactly that shot and ended up greenside on the par 5.

Second was off the tee. Only 220 to the water and I tee'd it a little higher and hit a towering tall draw that made it into perfect position around the dog leg left and gave me a really good look at the green.

Third was after a great push draw of a drive that just barely caught a branch and came straight down with around 215 in to the green. Hit an absolute rocket that landed on the green but didn't have enough decent to stick. Eneded up just off the back but an easy chip to a tap in par.

I'm not exactly sure why Adapt Hybrid has become on of my most consistent clubs in the bag but I think it's due to the stability of the shaft. That started out as an issue for me. Feeling like the MMT was just a little to heavy and stout but those shaft properties are allowing me to really feel the head and fire the clubhead through without worring about shaft kick in instability I'm feeling in my fairway wood shafts. I don't have to throttle at all.

The freaking 7W.

The ball speeds I see out of this damn thing are just….well, they don’t make sense to me at times hahaha

Either way, it’s become the most clutch club in my bag. One day this week I’m going to tee off with nothing but 7W on all the non-3’s and see how it shakes out.

That's how I feel about the 5w too. Hell there are times I feel that about the 3w, which is pretty nuts.

I've been in here quite a bit saying I don't feel like I'm getting quite the distance I was out of the DS-adapts that I was seeing with the Darkspeeds, but accuracy and consistency with them has been way up. My past couple of rounds out I have been damn near point and shoot with all of the fairways.

There has been so much said about the DS-Adapt fairways, but it seems every time out provides more reason to say even more positive about these golf clubs. Friday evening I was playing skins with my sons and found myself with an opportunity to close things out if I could win #15 (par 5(. I hit a big drive but found myself on the left side of the fairway, 220y out, and having to deal with the overhand of one tree and then another full tree just past that. I didn't realize what was happening until the shot had already been hit, but I immediately started brainstorming how I could go after the green to give myself a chance to close out. I grabbed the DS-Adapt 7w, started the golf ball low and right of target, got under the first tree and slung around the second tree. The golf ball cleared the water running across the middle of the fairway and came to rest on the front of the green. These are not shots I even consider attempting most of the time, but have so much confidence with this 7w that I attacked the shot without even questioning it.
