Cobra DS-ADAPT Fairways and Hybrids

I just want to say how much I love the DS Adapt X 7 wood. I really wish every club gave me as much confidence as this club does when I pull it out of the bag. Do I hit it perfect everytime...of course not. But more often than not a good result is coming, and at times the result is way better than the swing I put on it deserved. Ground contact with this club is very nice, it launches the ball quickly and ball speed across the face is pretty consistent. I am very confident that I can hold greens with this club, absolutely love it.
It has been a great replacement for my 4H for me. I have started to use it off the tee with a lot of success.

I was laughing maniacally. 250 in on a 5 and in thought let’s just play short.

247 carry later… 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's awesome 😍

Played 9 after work yesterday and the DS Adapt fairway woods continue to just be automatic for me. The X 3HF has been great both off the tee when needed and as a second shot club on par 5s when I’m trying to hit it as far as possible. The X 7 wood is my favorite club in my bag and I just have faith when I pull it that I’m hitting the ball where I’m aimed. And the Max 9 wood has locked its spot in my bag at that 160 yard distance that I know what to expect from it and ai know the height and spin will stop on any green. Love these fairway woods.

I ordered a 9-wood just for the hell of it. I fully expect that it will touch the moon.

Being able to land the ball softly from 170 and beyond makes my game so much better. I’m really glad I went all the way to the 6 hybrid with these.

Easy golf = good golf = fun golf

The 3w LS has won the bag battle and is in the bag for the long haul. The funny thing about the X and the LS is on the X I needed a flatter lie angle because I drew the ball a little too much. With the LS I cut the ball a little too much so I went with a more upright lie angle and added a little loft. I also have the weights configured in the draw position. The adjustability between the club heads is amazing with the FF33. I did take the club off the tee a couple of times this weekend and wow this club is so much fun to hit. Really impressed with it.

Thanks @Jman

Oh yeah man, that LS 3w is an absolute rocket launcher

7 wood arrived today
Sure is nice looking. Will get it in track man soon enough but won't see a real course till next year unless I go in a golf trip.
Temps in 20s and snow on the ground...

Since I am still looking for the 4W spot in my bag, I am also on the lookout for nice deals in my area now that this 2025 line up will soon be replaced by the 2026 versions.

This means I am looking for either a DS Adapt X 3HF playing stock at 16.5 degrees, or maybe a DS Adapt X 5 wood, which I can turn down to the same degrees in loft. With the great FF333 adapter, I could do this without opening/closing the face. My preferred length will be around 42.5 inch.

Are there any downsides in getting the (down lofted) 5 wood over the 3HF wood? I do know the head is slightly smaller (164cc on the 5W vs 174cc on the 3HF) but will this be really noticeable in terms of forgiveness?

I haven’t found that the smaller head of the 5w is noticeably less forgiving. If anything the slightly smaller head is easier for me to control. I’ve put up some easy to pull stats for me, and you’ll see the 5w hit more fairways off the tee (albeit a small sample size for both) but on all my shots this year the 5w has performed slightly stronger in terms of strokes gained.

The one thing I might consider just as much if not more so than the head is how much you need/want to clubs to be upright or flat. The FF33 is best on the market but if you look closely at the settings, if you go 2 deg upright you can’t add or subtract and loft. If you want to add (Or decrease) loft you can’t be all the way at the 2 degree extreme, it starts to work around the circle so you get 1.7 or 1.4 loft and/or upright. Is 0.3 change in lie important? Only you can know.

Also, enjoy it once you make your call! They are great clubs. I know I’m smitten with the combination of looks and performance

Thanks! Solid feedback and food for thought, since I didn't think about the limitations of the adapter.

Hybrid and I have had a rocky road. But I'm starting to find it. This might be the best and most solid I've ever hit a hybrid ever. And even then it was a little bit heel.

These adapt hybrids are rockets.

145 ball speed?!?

Just imagine it with a TPT...

😜

So was doing some end of year review of my stats and the proof is in the pudding with these fairways and hybrids. Great heads and the ability to dial in strike with the future fit adapter is really good.

My proximity jumped big time from 2024 to 2025, mostly from this spot of the bag

all shots
2025: 97 ft
2024: 117 ft

inside 175 yds
2025: 61 ft
2024: 65 ft

Scoob, have you found that you've made FF33 adjustments from time to time this year or have you found your setting and been able to just leave it alone? What would you say has made these particular fairways and hybrids fit your game so well?

I have pretty much left well enough alone, but the ability to de-couple loft and lie has been really big for me. It let me stay upright, which I need, and then tweak loft to gap and fit good windows with each club, especially the fairways.

Still trying to harness the hybrids a little. They are pretty hot and for someone who plays a 5 and 6 hybrid would like those designs to be focused a little more on hitting a number.

I was thinking about this last night, but I'm not certain I could choose to go back to an adapter that lacks the ability to de-couple loft and lie. I honestly have made very few adapter changes this season, but I think that is simply because the suggested settings just worked. To just have to identify on the chart the "where" of my miss and get back three pointed options is kind of perfect, I think.
