Cobra DS-ADAPT Fairways and Hybrids

I was hitting some really fantastic 5w’s on the range tonight. Just felt really easy to elevate and the distance seemed crazy, but it was really a really nice flat penetrating flight. A couple that tailed off to the right a bit but very strong ball flight.

…Then I realized I had been hitting my 3w. lol.

LMAO. This is hilarious to me because just yesterday when I was getting the numbers I posted I spent 4 shots getting increasingly frustrated that 3w was dying 20ish y short of usual.

It was the 5w. Erased them and started over haha. I need to figure out a better way to differentiate them. Same shaft, same grip, it’s gonna be a problem again in a more consequential spot I’m sure of it 🤣

The worst part is I have two very clearly different headcovers on them. I just absentmindedly took one off and didn’t even pay attention haha.

Yeah, still same. 🤣

Even have a special reason for each one.

3W - NASA because it’s and HF and get UP THERE

5w - UFO because I’ve never played a 5w before so it’s alien to me.

I foresaw having this problem tried to get ahead of it and still failed because I’m an absent minded idiot. 🤣

We need to get our acts together. lol

My 3HF LS came in and got to hit a bucket with it. This thing hits BOMBS. Denali black X 70g, tour velvet jumbo + 2 wraps.
Going to need to dial the loft back a bit to gap my 4h king tec better. Right now my 3HF is too close to driver yardages, but also need to get used to the new Adapt LS 9* driver I have in there and probably gain some driver distance back.
I haven’t hit a wood in probably 15 years. Always been a driver->3 iron up player. Having this between the driver and adding a 4 hybrid to the bag is a weird feeling but this may be a more often used than my driver club if I keep getting 245-260 out of it in A1  Lots of the local courses in the puget sound don’t need anything over that to set you up well on a hole, or so many dog legs you can’t cut or fly tall old growth trees.
Really excited to see how I grow into this club! Was a tough call on wedge count vs wood added in.

Where is this NASA cover from? I need one of those! For both professional and golf reasons 😂

Pins and aces. Beware signing up for their email discount. They will never leave you alone.

Yeah We are gonna need you two to fix this problem quickly. 🤣
Seems to just be a driving range issue. Never had a problem on course lol

Hit this once today off the deck. Really just needed to get it in position on an unreachable par 5. Simple and easy swing and got the exact result I was hoping for.

For folks who have multiple fairways, same settings for both?

Wondering the same, but I honestly believe they’ll be slightly different.

Nope. I have 3 fairways and all are different.

3HF X is at C2 to take a touch of fade I was seeing off the flight.

X 7 wood is at A1 as it's been great for me as it came.

and the Max 9 wood is at F4 to drop the loft a bit.

The new feel I am putting in place with the FW and hybrid is really starting to play dividends. My major swing flaw is to have my arms outrace my body and come over the top or do a dead pull. It has taken a lot of work to dry and drop my arms on the downswing but I finally have added in a slight pause (it feels like an eternity) to let my body finish the backswing and start the downswing with my hips versus my arms. This has led to the FW (3w) and hybrid (3h) just being straight up hammers. I have seen it on the course the last few rounds and now I am fine tuning the FF33 here and there to account for the new ball flight.

I haven't had to change them off A1 yet. Probably need a few more rounds and a Trackman session to find any flaws. So far they've been excellent

The fairways are still the one club that for some reason I can't stop overswinging and getting poor results. I don't think it has anything to do with the clubs themselves, but for some reason I just can't stop fighting it. When I catch it well, they go well (high and flat flight which I like), and they get the distances I want, but I find myself fighting them from the fairway.

Hit a 3w today that I was using to drive a 240y par 4, and I ended up hitting it really poorly and came out low and running, but ended up in the rough right next to the green. I fully expected it to be about 30y short.

A couple of very nice shots with the fairways today. They are so simple to hit now that I've kinda 'figured out' how I'm supposed to swing a fairway wood. For far too long, my entire golfing life, I've been trying to hit up on fairways like I would a driver. Something 'clicked' last week or the week before while I was in the sim and I started properly hit more down on them by moving ball position more towards the middle of my stance, around a clubhead inside my left heel.

When I hit these fairway woods properly, with a slightly downward strike, there isn't a more rewarding golf shot to me. Maybe it's because I've spent so much time hitting worm burners with fairways. I've never really hit flush fairway wood shots before, perhaps it's because of the light feel of the ball exploding off the face, maybe it's seeing the high but penetrating ball flight. Or, it's all of the above. It's great. I love it and hope it never ends.

All fairways were -20%. I really wanted to walk out with a Max 5W, but had to be fiscally sensible. Which I hate 😀

Such a great lineup.

20% means buying it is fiscally sensible!
Not when I have a fantastic bag of clubs that I love. But new is new and there's FF33...

Trust me, they've been in my cart a bunch of times 😀

Today's work league round was played on a shorter Par 66 course, with each side playing par 33. What the course lacks in distance, it makes up for with fairly narrow par 4's that require accuracy off the tee. I had 3 holes where a fairway wood is the best option off the tee. On hole 11, I hit my only bad tee shot of the day, a 3 wood that was OB, which can't really be pinned on the 3 wood, as I tried to hug a tree line with a draw that disappeared into the tree line, never to be seen again. On hole 15, I got this:

A 5 wood that left me in a perfect position to attack the pin.

And then on 18,

The tee ball needed to launch low to get beneath a branch that overhangs 30 yards past the box and this time the 3 wood did exactly what I needed it to.

I have both woods currently set on A7 with TPT shafts and they are pure joy to hit.
