I've gotten so comfortable with the 7 wood that there isn't a time that I won't pull it. Obviously it excels at fairway and tee shots, but deep rough I still expect to make decent contact and move the ball forward, at those times I just have to decide how much that lie will affect the distance and height, but from what i've experienced it still goes pretty well and straight. That's usually my mindset, but I was so curious as I walked up to this shot today. I know that one shot is hard to draw conclusions from, but the experiment at least went well enough for me to try it again in the future. I lost a bit of peak height, but was still able to clear the top of a mature tree between the green and I. I didn't try to elevate it and really, if I'm being honest, didn't try to step on it. Center contact and it just took off.
