Cobra DS-ADAPT Fairways and Hybrids

That's usually my mindset, but I was so curious as I walked up to this shot today. I know that one shot is hard to draw conclusions from, but the experiment at least went well enough for me to try it again in the future. I lost a bit of peak height, but was still able to clear the top of a mature tree between the green and I. I didn't try to elevate it and really, if I'm being honest, didn't try to step on it. Center contact and it just took off.
I've gotten so comfortable with the 7 wood that there isn't a time that I won't pull it. Obviously it excels at fairway and tee shots, but deep rough I still expect to make decent contact and move the ball forward, at those times I just have to decide how much that lie will affect the distance and height, but from what i've experienced it still goes pretty well and straight.

I will say that so far this season my love of the 7 and 9 woods in the bag has had me not pulling the 6 hybrid out as much as I have in the past. It's just one of those things that I play the same rotation of courses and if I hit good shots I haven't ended up in distances that match my 6 hybrid. Last year I wasn't a comfortable with the 5 hybrid so would drop down to the 6 and try to blast it. This year I'm way more comfortable with the 9 wood so haven't needed the 6 hybrid very often so it does get neglected some. But the times that I have needed to pull the 6 hybrid it's still a club that just performs.

It launches the ball high and fast, it's super easy to hit in any lie fairway/tee/rough. It does seem to have a bit higher pitched sound to it compared to the fairway woods but it's not at all unpleasant. It also hasn't seemed to be as draw biased as past hybrids. I haven't had any issues with hooks showing up, just nice baby draws and my miss with it has been more of a straight push than a hook which is nice with a hybrid club.

The 7w should be here tomorrow for me. I am SO curious what it's going to be like compared to my King hybrid.

I’m gonna guess HIGHER

Had to go do errands today so no monitor time as I’ve gotta go get kiddos now, but this came in and I got it cut down to length and installed in the 7W for tomorrow.

Stumbled upon it during the ProClubs father day sale mis-labeled as a LINQ White and as an 8TX V1 driver shaft, with the new cobra tip already too. So, cut it down and here we are. No, I did not tip this rebar 🤣

It’s JMAN!!

Not a lot to hate in those numbers. Looks like it could be a really fun club.

Stopping while I’m ahead today lmao

I’ll get a whole tee as well as turf session on it tomorrow and see how 10+ shots average out. I’m curious.

I kinda expected that I’d need to loft it down, so that’s not a surprise. I think that 19-20 spot could be a lot of fun.

I do want to say. I really like the way the 7W sets up. It’s way more compact than I expected, and I knew it would be pretty well shaped to start with.

The face shape and depth is a star for me, it’s comforting when looking down at that much loft. Haha

Sound is crisp, little more metallic indoors than I expected, not quite the same feedback I get from my X 3W.

I really think the ease is going to shine here. Then, I just need to work on manipulating the flight some.

I think if more people could just see one in person, they’d find it hard to walk away from the way it looks at address. So nice

My 3HF and 7 should be here tomorrow. Sadly delayed another day.

Launch and Height are definitely not issues 😳
I tried to tell you all.

I would LOVE to share some with someone/

Please!?

It’s just so funny because for a decade here I was a true low ball hitter.

I can’t even imagine the size of the absolute moon crater that would make here on soft Ohio bent grass greens. We’d need caution tape 😆

Hahaha! We have super soft Oklahoma bent greens right now so I’ll take a picture of the destruction on Thursday 🤣

I've been having some driver yips lately. I hate admitting that. I went 74-80 in a tournament this past weekend. I've been crushing the Max K but i just put some terrible swings on it

I changed my Adapt X 3-wood to 13.6 loft with a flat lie, and i was absolutely crushing it today. I was carrying it 245+ on a trackman. Plus i was hitting it very well off the turf

I am hopeful if i get into trouble with driver this can be an emergency club off tees.

the F33 adapter is great because it gives you so many options

I’m smitten.

I won a little scratch in men's league last night. I may see a 7W in my very near future

Man these fairways look really good at address….

Hoping I get along with them….

Man, I was sure hoping that might be the case. I knew there might be some things that needed dialed, but was hopeful you had a similar experience to my own. So much freaking fun to hit.

And it’s in my D4-D5 preferred range!

Oh man. So, I'm tired as hell now.

My goal today was to get some good data, then do a little tinkering.

First off, set of 10 with the 7W set at A1, no changes, this data is off the deck and I left the misses in here for a consecutive set. I was quasi warm when I started, but as you will see the speed increased as I went.

All in all, a lot for me to like. Heavy shots did exactly what I expected them to with spin dips, but overall even the widest dispersion shots would be ones that if I am hitting 7W off the deck, would be safe, otherwise I'd hit a different club.

THAT SAID! At standard A1, there is a LOT of loft to look at, and I want to get things a little flatter, so, I started tinkering. But I'll make you wait a bit for that.

SOOOO, maybe not waiting all that long, hahaha

After that, I didn't even go to the tee with it for a set, I knew what I would see with it. So instead, I wanted to mess with settings, I hit it in A1 (STD), G1 (-1 Loft, +1 Lie), and then G3 (-2 Loft, -0 Lie).

Tee Test 3 Lofts.png
Tee Test 3 Lofts Disp.png

This....did exactly what I thought it would. As I mentioned, at setup when at A1 there is a LOT of loft staring back at me and it just mentally makes me think LEFT as well. Suprise surprise, in A1, that is what happened. More loft, more spin, more left FOR ME.

Move to G1 and there's immediately more pop to it as you will see in the data, but, the +1 lie isn't a great thing for me, so it was hard to really hold off on and that gave me a more flat and right to left path. GREAT distance for a damn 7W, yes, but that left scares me as I want to hit this off the tee too.

That brings us to G3, ole -2/-0, 19 degrees of hammer time for me. If you look at the numbers alone, it might not look like it beats the G1 setting, but, immediately at setup with less loft looking at me it felt much more neutral-to-right and the swings backed that up. Little fades or straighter shots, with no hooks. Yes, more spin and launch than G1, but it also is much more safe, repeatable, and playable for me. It is what I want to see out of it. Plus, with how it looks to me at setup, I believe I'll be able to flight it down when need be.

Worth noting, these were hit teed up higher than I normally would, I will tee it in between my #1 and #2 birtee's, but that isn't a thing for this right now, so I expect a little flatter flight in any setting off the tee than I saw here.
