Cobra Expands 3DP: New 3DP MB & 3DP X Irons Announced

So for all those interested or maybe wanting to play the X, when was the last time you played an SGI if ever?
Don’t know that I’ve ever played what was categorized as SGI. Played Amp Cell then F9 speed back for a short period of time prior moving to the original King Forge Tec irons.

F9 Speedback may fit in that category. Such an underrated iron to!

What makes a SGI?
Because ifits based on size, the X is nowhere in that realm. I have shared some comparison pics in this thread against various irons including some that are called players irons.

This can’t possibly be true.
@DataDude ia taking a victory lap he said
Hey, I'm reading through. Have seen some really good stuff on these X's. I am hoping to hit them somewhere. If I can finally get the spin I want out of something that has a lot more forgiveness than something like a King Tour or T-100 I am in. I gotta have spin to get the ball up in the air. It's been a tough spot in gear for me. Forgiving stuff is largely geared to remove spin because most golfers as bad as I am hit high spinny fades. These X's sound and look like a unicorn.

I am curious for your thoughts on this. Is the soldity of the club the reason these 3DP can be unicorns? Is it the fact that they don't have to make a thinned out springy perimeter weighted face and can keep that firmness of a one piece club with the lattice structure, is that what keeps the spin higher with this design? I know in golf firmer is often spinnier, are these just a lot firmer face than traditional GI or SGI club?

I don't think the X comes close to fitting into the SGI category. It was more asking based on others likening the forgiveness to an SGI.

My thought process was ask that, then start asking about how some of the benefits of SGI forgiveness in irons.

Any way, in my mind what makes an SGI is a club that has a slightly larger sole, a bit more of a generous top line with a bit more offset.

Based on what I have seen in the X it looks really just like an slight adaptation of the Tour.

The good news is that my 3dp x should be here tomorrow. The bad news is that I’ve come down with the flu and won’t be able to hit them until I’m better.

Haven't hit the X but since they're the same material as the Limit3d I'd say they're a softer face than 95% of the GI irons on the market. The spin characteristics is likely part of the design with the perimeter weighting and cg placement. There's also no guarantee that they'll spin more for everyone.

In doing a fairly deep dive into review and comparison videos I think you are spot on with the spin variation between players. Looking forward to people getting these in hand.

During my dive through videos there is a ton of talk about blended sets with this line up.

I played the Ping G425s up until last season. Dunno if those are SGI or just GI. But I play the King Tec X now, and it sounds like the 3DPX is similar in size with a bit more forgiveness, which is welcome

AskGolfNut just released his review of the X. First three shots were different locations on the face and all 3 carried the exact same distance, literally, to the yard. Next two shot increased by one and two yards respectively. So 5 shots that had a front to back dispersion of 2 yards lol.

I'm currently playing the Cobra DS Adapt-Max

The start of last year, T300's. That being said though I think a lot of people can benefit from a bit more forgiveness. Getting the most forgiving iron that you can stand to look at is kind of a theme for a lot of people.

saw that. Can't reconcile the M15 green blob being bigger than the X green blob. No way.

Sounds like you need some sleep and meds STAT

Don't we all?

Flip side - Shop just up from me where a friend (using that term loosely as that is a whole other story) has all the Cobra iron heads in. Time for a day trip!

So not traveling to Austria?

I’m kind of struggling with that as well. The M15 will be a fantastic iron, but it’s not doing anything groundbreaking from a tech standpoint to achieve that heat map. I have the 925 HMPs. They’re really good, but nothing like what he’s touting in the M15. Seems questionable.

I just watched that as well. It was wild to see a shot that was 8mm toe - 5mm low carry the same distance as a shot that was 0mm center - 1 mm low. Seriously impressive

Sounds perfect with my ball striking prowess 😂

Also, I'm happy to report I got compted a drink at my club today, as a thank you for my 5000$ pro shop bill in January.

It's the little things.
Small price to pay for a free drink

I am so over the moon excited that we are giving away upwards of 10 sets of these to THPers.

That's still so, so cool! I can't wait to spend more time with my set and read how others experience the whole lineup.

So are every one of those THPers. And hopefully Cobra can get what they would be excited about as well in terms of continued reviews.
