Cobra Expands 3DP: New 3DP MB & 3DP X Irons Announced

@jdtox - you spent a fair bit of time with the X when we were at HQ last year - Is that the kind of head you'd see in the bag, or would you be the kind of guy who would lean Tours or better with your move?

The numbers looked ridiculously optimal, but hitting bay to on course decision making always seems to get a bit fuzzy.
LOL at the tag. I think we figured out with the right shaft and some bending of metal I can get to a decent spot. That being said I plan to do a full fitting this year and see where we end up. I do think there might be options that don't involve much tinkering though

I'll reference my experience during my fitting, but please understand it's a small window of experience and I'll have at least twelve more moments with these before anything is solidified.

During my time, I actually leaned hard on the Tours based on the fitting head availability and we were working with one of the few MB heads that were around HQ. I did that to get a real baseline on shafts and get a better understanding of my game with the shafts on the wall at Cobra. I've made a pretty subtle shift from PX LS into PX LZ with great success this year, and the results with the Tours were much the same.

The only other shaft that competed was the Dynamic Gold 120 and it felt more like a toss up than a real landing point (although my guy Roger was adamant that it was the 120 over the LZ). SUPER easy to get the head through the zone and the launch was brilliant. Not a lot of thought, an awful lot of great and accurate distance.

We swapped to the MB head that had a typical stock shaft offering (probably DG S300) and I hit it for fun with the assumption that it was just to experience what the Tour guys have at their disposal. Well, repeatedly, while I was talking down my ability to play them, I kept landing them in the exact same spot on the green haha. It's kind of haunted me ever since.

So I posted this in the Cobra Classic thread but I’ll drop it here as well. Roger Dunn had all 3 heads tonight so I took a few swings. I’m in love. First pic is my first swing with then MB. Numbers make me look better than I think I am but damn this club was surprisingly easy to hit, and consistently. This had $-Taper 120 stiff and it felt so smooth.View attachment 9404600
Second pic was the Tour with DG Mid 100 Stiff. Still really easy to hit. I’d need a full fitting before I bought anything but very good chance I’m getting new irons at some point this year

So what are waiting for?

what do you mean here? Can you elaborate
Things change a lot when you've got 160 on the final hole into the green to shoot a great score and you need the right club to get you there.

It's not the club you can hit 3/5 times great, it's the one you can hit 9/10 times great.

It’s great to have the option right? I realize that for the Classic, you can’t order a combo set- but would that be something that you’d consider?

lmao, you're just going through a weird phase. It's your butterfly on the lower back tattoo moment. You'll come to your senses eventually.

Can confirm all of the above. Seen it with my own eyes. No reason you shouldn't be playing the MB's

May the simulator experiences be fruitful.

Also, I think you're just trying to get a leg up on the comp.

Do you think that’s the right call for you?
(seems that way based on those numbers imho)
It’s more that I would really want to do an actual fitting and not just swing the shaft and setup they had on the floor. Will be looking to do that sooner than later

Don't be afraid, your iron game is strong.

Feel wise, similar. Perhaps the fusions felt a little softer but that’s strictly anecdoctal.

Dispersion wise, I wouldn’t be a good judge of that. I’m in the midst of reworking my swing so it’s all over the place currently.

My feedback thus far is strictly based off of forgiveness and distance, where these irons come out way ahead of anything I have used. It’s actually significant and very noticeable.

My issue now is that I need to rework my bag because my woods and wedges were based off my previous distances.
So how are you thinking of reworking the bottom part of your bag?

I really want to hit the X… iron swing has been getting better and really want to try these out. Soon

That’s what credit cards are for, right?

As someone who also has an eye on the Ti250s this has my rapt attention
Sounds like you are courting quite a number of pretty ladies! By my count that makes 4? Between X, tour, Ti250 and M15?
I mean honestly some real firepower out there and many things to like about all of them!

That descent angle is money!

I wonder if "surprisingly easy to hit despite profile" will have the predicted impact on decision making, or whether players will really lean into the potential to play something similar in size to what they currently play with the added benefit of the tech.
That's why I went to the Tours. Similiar profile as the King Tours, but a whole lot more forgiving.

That was my initial thought when learning more about the 3 profiles. I think I would go with same size and more forgiveness, and grab the 3DPX
Yep, the added forgiveness in a profile that I already know I can play is why I went with the 3DP X. The smaller profile is what held me off from getting the 3DP Tours earlier as I was worried they were too small for me over the course of a round rather than a few shots on the range that I got with them.
