Cobra KING TEC MD Mini Driver

Do you typically like to shape shots like that off the tee?
If I could shape shots off the tee with more confidence, I probably would like that, but I'm a pretty straight ball hitter with a baby cut fairway finder being my normal tee shot. Based on early first swings, this head and shaft length are much easier for me to get more creative with shaping, and I like that

Had another look at this today, didn’t want to take the plastic off and hit one from the rack but was tempting. Wish they got a fitting head in to test. Pretty sure I end up with one at some point to see how it stacks up against my TM Copper mini. Look wise it’s no contest

I’ve got 3 shafts to try in the MD and a fourth if I decide to butt trim a Ventus Blue TR I have at driver length right now. From a weight standpoint, I play 60ish gram in driver and 70ish gram in 3W. Are most of you matching driver weight, or FW weight if there is a difference in weight in your current setup?

I’m going to try and hit the Trackman to get real numbers instead of just banging balls at the range although the outdoor sessions go a long way for me being able to see the flight down range.

I’ve done both and not sure I have a super strong opinion. I’d say do you want it to feel like a small driver or a big 3W when you swing it?

It will be an off the tee club for me 95% of the time so probably more like a driver

Don't have a Mini yet, but...
Cobra Mini Head is large, so Id lean more towards Driver Weight. Of course thats just me, I like the Weight, it allows me to "Feel" where Head is.

I’d go matching driver weight - the head is closer to driver size and I think you’ll want a touch lighter to mimic your driver swing.

I’ve historically gone 3w weight. it seems to have worked well for me. The heavier also keeps everything in check for me.

Mini is ~120cc bigger than a 3 wood, and ~160cc smaller than a driver.

But the more important factor is head weight, imo. Most mini head weights are similar to 3 wood head weights, and are quite a bit heavier than driver heads.

Mini drivers aren’t designed with fairway in mind. They’re supposed to be big hahah

Plugged the Powercore 8TX Blue into this one, set at standard with heavy forward and took 12 swings, throwing two out.

Clearly, I'm no robot, I leave that to....the robots.

That said, you can also see in the data that early I was quick and flippy at things, hence the low lefts initially, but then I settled in and just let it work. I really like a lot of what I see here, a lot lot.

Is it perfect? Heck no. But for me, I'm excited as can be at the potential as real season play approaches. I do think that I can do a little tuning with FF33 and maybe even flipping the heavy weight to the back, but time will tell there.
How does the PowerCore blue 8TX feel in comparison to other X-stiff shafts in the MD?

Curious about blind ordering a red 7tx or blue 8tx in the Cobra MD

Is the shaft a "chore to swing"? What is your usual swing speed and temp?

Can someone tell me what the swing weight is with the stock shaft and length? (Kai'li Dark Waves Blue in 43.75 inch)

I think mine measured ~D2 on a cheap golfworks scale with a mid-size grip. The Frost Blue CB is closer to D0 which is to be expected I think
I'd trust this over a random listing on the internet 👊

I noticed you have a TR on order. Did you get it tipped at all? I have one at driver length and may end up trimming. Just not sure if I want to pull adapter and tip at the same time.

It’s ALL there. I’m a 109-114 guy.

No I have asked the builder to cut the shaft to 43.5 inch total playing length without any tip trimming. I think the TR will be stiff enough as is.

Never thought I'd say this to a guy but I love that length

50+ degrees tomorrow so should be able to get the King Tec MD out for the first time, super hyped

Nice. I'll be watching for your feedback. I love my TR in driver
