Cobra OPTM Fairway Woods and Hybrids

Have you considered and/or hit the LS fairway woods? I'm curious how they compare to the X. I'm hoping I'll get a chance to hit the woods some more this weekend.
Nope. Traditionally I'm not a high spin guy. I've picked up some speed over the last few months and have my path not quite as I-O. This is giving me some different numbers with all clubs.

I think the better route for me is to consider a ball change if things are too high and spiny on course.

For @ChrisATL
It’s already got a PowerCore and the right headcover

Really fun shot with the 7W yesterday on one of our 5’s.

I tried to cut the corner with driver and got caught up by a tree, ending up in the pond. Drop point was actually way way back by the previous holes tee box. Two plays from there, logically it’s an 8i over trees back into the fairway leaving about 120 out.

Or…

It’s 230 carry over the pond, over trees, to where the green is.

So you know what I did. 7w up and over, landed about 17 feet behind the green. Ended up saving the bogey.

Wild.

Little data set while my swing isn't shite for the moment, figure I should capture as much as I can.

This is the OPTM X 7W paired with LIN-Q Powercore White 8TX and set to heavy forward/toe and A1 setting, which is wild because I had to play the ADAPT at 19.

Of note, you will see the two that I hit heavy, speed drop, spin drop, but absolutely on target, wild.

After that set, I put 5 shots on the Qi4D 7W as well, here is the head to head:

I cannot say enough good things about that forward toe side weight location on these X fairways.

It’s tuned the hook miss right out of my 7W.

Looks like the Qi4D is even more fade biased?

Not really, I was just hitting a lot of pushes with it, was kinda interesting. Honestly could’ve been alignment too, I get lazy indoors.

I forgot to mention, the sound is even better than last year, a nice added bonus.

Also also, I again have to gush about the fact that I love not having to turn the X 7W down like I did with Adapt. It’s hitting the distance window I want at standard, which means there’s potentially more in the tank depending on the day as well.

More work with the X 7W today and it’s just a hoot to hit.

The subtle change to the shaping with the POI concept is good, but I will continue to relentlessly talk about how much I love the addition of that forward toe side weight.

Excited to get back out on the course the rest of the week with this in tow.

7W backed up all the data I’ve been posting. Paired with the LIN-Q White Powercore 8TX and heavy weight forward/toe, it’s a really good tee and turf club for me.

Even on misses over 36 holes today, it stayed in play.

Addicting. Confidence inspiring. Consistent.

which FW shape do you like better right now? Cobra or TM?

I think visually I prefer the TM, but, it’s because of the carbon fiber look, I think it’s mean. Shape wise, it’s definitely bigger and much more rounded.

This though, it’s clean, and it’s traditional in its shape. Similar to the Adapt, but a little more clean in the curves. Also, the deep face is killer.

I tend to gravitate towards that more rounded, larger shape in FW's. It's partially why some of Cobra's previous models didn't appeal to me as much. I found their shape changed from say AMP cell which was the larger/rounder profile. Like LTDx to me was just smaller with that deeper profile.

The 7W shined again today over 36 holes.

Used it off the tee a few times, and hit it off the deck thrice as well. Easy. High. Towering. Consistent. Long.

It’s a really good upgrade on the already excellent adapt, and Cobra gets a massive tip of the cap from me for accomplishing that feat.

Do you work the flight up and down much given the loft and design of the club?

It’s the only way the 7W made it to my bag last year, learning to flight it. I’ve got both shots with it, which makes it even more useful, means it’s still in play for me even on windy days!

thats awesome to hear. I am super curious about the high lofted fairways but the RadSpeed went to high and I'm gun shy. Don't really have a "need" but maybe @ddec can talk me into it

I had to really work and learn how to control it. It’s why for the two years before last, I kept trying TD 7W’s and they never stuck, they were just one trick ponies that only worked when the wind wasn’t crazy.

This, totally different beast now! I love it.

thats awesome to hear and enough to keep me away from the Heavenwood. I really enjoyed the 3w from the DS Adapt line off the deck last season. I imagine this to be even better

I have a way of talking you into things.

I’m going to say this, if you liked or loved the ADAPT fairways, specifically in the X, the OPTM X is a legitimate upgrade.

It’s so much fun. And SO under discussed right now in the world of fairway woods.
