Cobra OPTM Fairway Woods and Hybrids

More swings on the 7W today, it’s just so good. It’s easy. It’s stress free. It’s forgiving. It’s playable.

What I saw backed up what I saw on the course this week where I hit it as much as possible over my 6 rounds.

Just swing.

Well, just swing, and enjoy.

I've never carried a 7 wood. I hit the OPTM X 3HF and 7 woods today and I agree they were very easy to hit. I can see the 7 wood getting a lot of play.

It’s a hoot.

ESPECIALLY with the new weighting, if you ever tend to lose it left, that’s a game changer this time around.

I hit the 7 wood with the heavier weight in the toe, as I do tend to overdraw the ball as my miss. I was hitting it very straight.

Yup, it’s thus far eliminated my big miss with the ADAPT, so now I’ve been able to take more dead aim into greens

Is it good enough to not get hybrid in that slot? Did you try the hybrid to compare?

All about needs. The thing I like about 7W instead is easier launch, less left, and WAY better out of the rough.

I think it is down to preference of ball flight and personal comfort with which type of club you like to hit.

I definitely don't need launch. Less left, for sure. I've dabbled with a 7W before but never really much out of the rough. I actually like my hybrid for that, and it was one of my concerns about a 7w in that spot.

It’s one of the bigger reasons why most Tour players go higher lofted fairway instead of a hybrid, it’s better from the rough.

I like hybrids and usually hit them pretty well. All the 7w love with this release has me thinking. I'd feel weird not having a hybrid in the bag.

It's one of the few things I've never really messed with. Sounds fun. Either need to make a tough decision or find a way to get a 15th club in my Cobra Classic bag.

Eh, always choose fun and adventure

Fred Couples plays with 4,5,6 hybrids and then 7 iron. Use whatever works for you. I think there is a lot of overlap in this part of the bag, and different people have different preferences. I've never played a 7 wood. During my fitting today, my dad was asking why 7 wood over 4 hybrid. I said I'd like to have a club I can more easily launch over trees. He said with the new driver, why would I worry about having to hit over trees?

I'm hoping the 7 wood will work well in my bag.

Unfortunately for all of us, we aren’t Freddie Couples 😜

Haha your dad makes a strong point. I'm almost in team 7w. I just typically like my 4 hybrids.

I've played on windy days and the 7 wood would be a very tough club to use on those days. On shorter, narrow courses, I would lean into my low hybrid as my fairway finder. So I can appreciate the place for those lower hybrids.

That's definitely a concern. Hybrid already goes high for me. I'd really have to work at flighting the 7w down.

I’m going to say this, if you liked or loved the ADAPT fairways, specifically in the X, the OPTM X is a legitimate upgrade.

It’s so much fun. And SO under discussed right now in the world of fairway woods.
This catches my attention

It’s truly better.
I believe it and am so looking forward to getting the 9w in play. I’m guessing it might lead to more.
