I've been a big Arccos user for 4 or 5 years, from the early days, pre link and new dashboard. Its been ok and I like the data side of it but there are a few things that annoy me. As I have gotten older, they annoy me more ( Yes, very "get off my lawn" of me, I know ). With the discussions on Shot Scope here on the forum, considering switching to Shot Scope. I also use a Garmin S60 watch for last few years and love it but the Garmin data side is horrific compared to Arccos or Shot Scope. So essentially I use the Link to get Arccos data for after round info and the Garmin for real time on course use.

Couple of things that are making me consider the switch.

1) My S60 is starting to die. Not dead yet but where as I could get 2 rounds out of it, I am just barely clearing one before it needs a recharge. Will still last a week or so as a watch but it used to last 2 weeks without any golf. So while not an issue now....it will be.
2) Kind of tired of paying the subscription with Arccos for how much I use it. And the price has gone up since I started
3) For whatever reason, I lose the club tags way to often. I go through probably 4 or 5 a year. I bought the smoke version which I like way better than the green aesthetically but they only give hte free member refill 5 pack in green which annoys the piss out of me. That and I have about 8 completely dead tags which sucks.
4) Arccos has been missing a lot of shots lately and they haven't actually been to engaging when I notify support. Nuff said on that.

I've also noticed the yardage tends to be off from the watch or other GPS and I have to go into the dashboard or app almost every round to correct a miss hit recognition or failure to switch holes iss where I have 7 strokes on one hole and 1 on the next.

So with all that being said, considering switching to Shot Scope for a few reasons

1) The idea of replacing the S60 watch and the Arccos with one watch appeals to me.
2) There are discounts now available that make entry point expense very appealing.
3) My Arccos membership is coming up for renewal.
4) The tags I feel will be much less apt to get ripped out or fall out than the Arccos heavier tags ( 7-8grams ).

So THP, talk to me. I've read a few threads on the comparisons and have a few questions.

- If you've made this same transition, would you do it again? And what are the biggest differences?
- Should I go with a V5 or X5 watch? ( Just looked on the Shot Scope site and for some reason they are out of stock on X5 but V5 is still available )
- What are the 'gotchas' to jumping into Shot Scope that I need to be aware of?
- How accurate is Shot Scope compared to Arccos tags?

Thanks THP Family!

- no subscription fees, no batteries to die
- I like my X5
- none
- the only thing I find myself consistently editing are my putts, and I use manual mode. I suspect it's because when I'm putting I don't stop and stand in one spot for 2-3 minutes like you do with a full swing

Same. It's hard for me to trust some of the putting data since I'm relying on memory when I make the adjustment post-round. In my case it's definitely operator-error.

As to the OP, I've never used Arccos but ShotScope is very solid.

Used Arcoss a little before I moved to Shotscope.

- I absolutely have no regrets about moving to Shotscope. No regrets whatsoever.
- I have had an X5, and currently run a V5. Either are great, functionality pretty much the same now after firmware upgrades. Bezel on the X5 is really nice - then it's down to preference on button presses or swipes
- I don't really feel that there are any gotchas - except possibly that you'll lose your Arcoss data and have to start again
- Same as @Junkyard - editing putts and I use auto mode. Maybe minor refinements on what type of lie when I'm on the edge of fairways/rough or on the fringe.

I would also say that the dashboard for Shotscope (based on what Arcoss was like 12 months ago) is a million times better, and continues to be improved.

Dive in the water is very warm, and there are a ton of helpful THP'ers who will help you through the early days on the two threads - one for V5 and one for X5.

I should probably pay more attention to the putting stats, but honestly as long as I get the number of putts correct I don't care about the distances. I know if I'm making putts or not.

My greatest frustration with Arccos was checking to make sure the shot had been captured. With SS I don't even think about it.

While I personally use the X5, I've seen a few guys with the V5 and honestly you can't go wrong with either IMO

I will give you my perspective from a person who has not used Arccos and only used ShotScope

1) My S60 is starting to die. Not dead yet but where as I could get 2 rounds out of it, I am just barely clearing one before it needs a recharge. Will still last a week or so as a watch but it used to last 2 weeks without any golf. So while not an issue now....it will be.
I have the X5 watch and get about a round or two out of it. If you are looking for a longer lasting watch, I will let others chime in because I don't use it full time and only when I play so battery life is low on my list of needs

2) Kind of tired of paying the subscription with Arccos for how much I use it. And the price has gone up since I started
The main reason I went with ShotScope was the lack of a subscription fee. IF they had one I would never have signed up

I have changed tags but only because I bought new ones to update the ones I had. They still worked and I have not had any issues with them falling off.

4) Arccos has been missing a lot of shots lately and they haven't actually been to engaging when I notify support. Nuff said on that.
I have not had ShotScope miss any shots or have any real issues with adjusting shots. I like going back through my round on my dashboard and updating shots to get an accurate view of the stats so any small misses or inaccuracies are easily fixed.

I've also noticed the yardage tends to be off from the watch or other GPS and I have to go into the dashboard or app almost every round to correct a miss hit recognition or failure to switch holes iss where I have 7 strokes on one hole and 1 on the next.
I have used ShotScope along with the GPS from the GRINT app and they are close and I have never seen any variations.

So with all that being said, considering switching to Shot Scope for a few reasons

1) The idea of replacing the S60 watch and the Arccos with one watch appeals to me.
2) There are discounts now available that make entry point expense very appealing.
3) My Arccos membership is coming up for renewal.

So THP, talk to me. I've read a few threads on the comparisons and have a few questions.

- If you've made this same transition, would you do it again? And what are the biggest differences?
I would do it again without any hesitation. Once I was up and running it was seamless to use.
- Should I go with a V5 or X5 watch? ( Just looked on the Shot Scope site and for some reason they are out of stock on X5 but V5 is still available )
I have the X5 and like it, but the screen is sensitive and might switch up screens but it's a non issue for me IMO.
- What are the 'gotchas' to jumping into Shot Scope that I need to be aware of?
I have not experienced any gotchas. the learning curve was easy and offers me all i need from the watch to the dashboard.
- How accurate is Shot Scope compared to Arccos tags?
I've never used Arccos so can't help there.

While I personally use the X5, I've seen a few guys with the V5 and honestly you can't go wrong with either IMO

I am leaning to the X5 because its closer to the S60 interface wise but its sold out. Wonder if any of the ShotScope folks on the forum woukd know if they will be back in stock before Christmas.

Shot Scope V5 is the way to go. The X5 is a bit nicer but also heavier and touch screen isn't super responsive. The buttons on the V5 are a bit easier to use but its really all about preference.

I get roughly 36 holes without a charge but the watch charges quickly, I've often charged on my way to the course.

Its accurate and feels great on the wrist, almost forget its there but I certainly miss it when I don't have it.
No subscription fees
Tags are smaller and easy to use
Tons of data metrics
Support is fantastic
Shot Scope supports THP - @Gavin - Shot Scope and @jenisontheforum are great people who are on the forum and answer questions. Not to mention we have a great event called the Trackers Championship coming up with them next year.

This is good feedback and something I struggle with

I had similar issues with Arccos and moved to a Garmin watch. Much prefer it…

Not going to lie. The interaction and support of the forum by @jenisontheforum and @Gavin - Shot Scope does play a part for me as well as I want to support those that support THP.

Thanks for the insights @jdtox . I like the idea of being able to charge on the way to the course. The Garmin charged quickly too which is great. The Arccos Link however does not.

Data and analysis post collection is vastly superior.

Yes.

It’s been a while since i used Arccos. But when i switched it was very apparent.

Appreciate the thoughts, bud. (y)

Sounds like you’ve done a good job of talking yourself into Shot Scope and I for one am a big fan.

The V5 is the better of the 2 choices listed from everything I’ve heard. I owe the X5 and like it the only negative is the touchscreen navigation is a bit clunky.

I’ve never actually used Arccos so I can’t give a direct comparison. What I do know for a fact is that Customer service for Shot Scope is some of the best there is, bar none.
You are susceptible to missing a shot or 2 with shot scope but I’ve trained myself to just check after each shot if the tag has been registered by the watch and violà, good to go.

Arccos tags are obnoxiously big.

I made the switch. Grandfathered in gen 2 sensors were dying and I will not pay their sub fee.

Join me in the transition to Shot Scope, fellow Grandaddy alumni.

super clean interface and the ability to easily rip through and confirm the round was a big seller for me. Not a pain, actually quite enjoyable to recollect the round.

I never used Arcoos so I can’t compare the two. I can say Shotscope is super easy to use. The data it provides is pretty amazing, I just wish I knew better how to put it to use. It rarely misses shots, in fact the bigger problem I have is it always adds a driver between 2 green and 3 tee box that I always have to delete. I had the V3 originally and upgraded to the X5 when it was released. If something happened and I had to get a new one I would look at the V5 as sometimes the touchscreen can be not very responsive. If there is something wrong with course mapping (one of the courses I play has been undergoing major renovation) I shoot customer service an inquiry with what’s changed and they usually have the course mapped in 24 hours. Finally having @Gavin - Shot Scope and @jenisontheforum shows the commitment they have to the product and to THP

Did you switch recently?
Yup! Got on the Black Friday deal so haven’t actually used SS yet 😂 but I’m not gonna miss out on trying to convert someone else! Lol
