Considering Switching from Arccos to Shot Scope - Talk to me

Yes they are. And very prone to backing out.
I have developed a bit of a weird habit of confirming my tags seating but for the most part, they are always where they should be haha

Yup! Got on the Black Friday deal so haven’t actually used SS yet 😂 but I’m not gonna miss out on trying to convert someone else! Lol
Nice!

I think we're going to have a lot of fun in that thread next year.

I made the switch. Grandfathered in gen 2 sensors were dying and I will not pay their sub fee.

Join me in the transition to Shot Scope, fellow Grandaddy alumni.

Not that I am saying I am going to do it but I did notice not only are the V5's on sale, but there may be a coupon that works to drop the price lower as well.

I've done the same with Arccos out of habit so I stop losing the damn things. :ROFLMAO:

So THP, talk to me. I've read a few threads on the comparisons and have a few questions.

- If you've made this same transition, would you do it again? And what are the biggest differences?
- Should I go with a V5 or X5 watch? ( Just looked on the Shot Scope site and for some reason they are out of stock on X5 but V5 is still available )
- What are the 'gotchas' to jumping into Shot Scope that I need to be aware of?
- How accurate is Shot Scope compared to Arccos tags?

Thanks THP Family!
- Arccos tags may have been slightly better at recording shots in the summer, but awful in the winter when under layers. Shot Scope is more consistent.
- I much prefer the V5 as touch screens in general aren’t my favorite and the X5 got more cumbersome when wet
- You will need to be aware that you will likely need to adjust a couple shots after a round. Some find that annoying, I like the ritual of reviewing the round. Conversely if you don’t want too deep a dive the algorithm will wipe out the outliers over time and no sweat on cleaning.
- when detected, Shot Scope seemed tighter in terms of course accuracy. Arccos seemed to have less misses but way more drift.

think I hit the bullets but fire away with more

So is it a done deal yet?

What's the hold up?

I like the touch screens but I'm comparing against the Garmin which is really nice.

I have to adjust a couple of shots each round now anyways so even trade there.

Yeah, the drift I've noticed as well. Laser says one distance. Watch says the same. Arccos is off, usually shorter.

super clean interface and the ability to easily rip through and confirm the round was a big seller for me. Not a pain, actually quite enjoyable to recollect the round.
Quoting this… cause I’m happy you embraced shot tracking

Curious to compare the two. Arccos has its good points. The concept of the link is great and, when it works, the "just swing and forget about it" is great. When it works. But it seems the SS is going to be a better fit for what I am looking to get out of it.

I had a couple buddies that were on the Arccos bandwagon and tried to get me aboard. Watching them fumble around with Arccos trying to keep it tracking properly, while being treated like an annuity by Arccos was mind boggling. I had to tell them a number of times to quit screwing with it and play golf. Yes, crappy technology can and does cause slow play. And I would NEVER pay Arccos a subscription fee for their junk product. To me that's like paying a subscription fee to get dog poop brownies shipped to your house. I am not paying a subscription fee to eat your chit Arccos.....

I have a X5 Watch. It's accurate. As for Software and Downloads-Ive given up. Will NOT sync with Phone via Wifi unless I delete Acct, reset Acct with new Password.
Everytime. Got so annoying I gave up. Now I just have to remember to check Yardage before next Shot or I lose it when it resets for next Club. Wanted to store Data to see how I'm improving but Watch has let me down.
Don't know about V5 though.

My greatest frustration with Arccos was checking to make sure the shot had been captured. With SS I don't even think about it.
While I know how much it happens with Arccos, I had the same thing happen with my X5 even with tapping the tag to the band and seeing that the right club displayed. SS was missing a lot of shots for me, which made for a long time after editing my round and that's the biggest reason I abandoned it in favour of their ranger finder and the GHIN app.

This is usually a once off reset either from new, or sometimes after a firmware upgrade. You shouldn't be having this as a recurring issue. I also haven't noticed a major difference between the X5 and the V5 in this regard having got both (I'm running a V5, son is on an X5).

Have you worked through it with customer service ?

What type of phone / OS version are you using ? Are you trying to do this in an area which has lots of competing Bluetooth connections ?

Talked to Cust Service and they suggested about resetting Acct and Password. Worked great, but I have to do it everytime I want to connect. I have a 6 mth old Android. Just Done dealing with it.

I made the switch a long time ago when Arccos was just going to their subscription based service

Yep, I would switch again. I really like having the gps distances on the watch that Shotscope has, the features of the watch and no subscription fees.

I prefer the V5, as the physical buttons work out better for me than the touchscreen.

I have worked tapping the sensor to my watch band as part of my pre-shot routine to make sure the watch picks up the tag. Putting can be hit or miss with it getting the appropriate spots (this and adding penalty shots are my biggest corrections I need to make following a round)

- How accurate is Shot Scope compared to Arccos tags?
In my experience I feel they are very similar. Both of them are going based on the gps data of your phone, neither are perfect but good enough.
