I didn't know he governed 50 states, must be a pretty busy job:greenalien:

there are fauxers and hoaxers in this very thread! not everything has to be some global conspiracy
What state do you live in?

I have to ask, what does this even mean? That’s like saying nobody worry about it coming from China, how it came or even worry about, because the only ones responsible are the governors.

If it is reasonable then there is no basis to dispute the numbers.
The CDC changed the guidelines so that more deaths than normal were reported as C19. Even doctors came forward objecting to the standards.

CSPAN?
When I say media bias, it is more than trigger words , it is what they fail to report. Or, doom and gloom.
That picture has Bloomberg as "center".

:ROFLMAO:

When Vegas opened back up on Thursday, people flocked to the casinos as if there never was a pandemic, no social distancing and very few masks. Only time will tell if COVID is around.
That's good news.

Imagine if before WWII people said "well, it's not worth anyone dying for freedom".

Name one? Please don't say NYT.

Won't take your bait because that's all it is ... you should know.

There is news and there is opinion. If you can't differentiate the two and take out emotive words ... you are a lawyer. Do it. You know two sides exist to every story. I deal with measuring two sides every day.

What bothers me more about Cable News is that they need to fill in time and most of it is not news - it's opinion and getting peeps from one side to interview so you don't hear the other side that much, if at all.

I'd go for more individual interviews with more thoughtful discussion and questions- you got these panels, like CNN has, which are ridiculous, and multiple peeps from both sides end up in shouting arguments.

I find a lot of these newspeople are not that proficient at interviews.

I turn on The Golf Channel. Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc. just recirculate the same stuff every 30 minutes. No wonder people are brainwashed from every side if they listen. The opinion shows are many times just pure fictional fodder and are to be ignored.

Can MSNBC Rachel Maddow ever get to the point? Can Lawrence O'Donnell every stop looking smug? I can say something about Fox, but why... lol.

Interesting LOCAL discovery today. My wife just had her prescription for eyeglasses updated recently, and used our insurance to cover a portion of her new regular glasses. She is wanting some new sunglasses too, and since they will be 100% on our dime she is looking for as good a price as she can find. We would go to Costco but their Optical dept. was closed (not sure if it was just at that time of day, or if they are closed due to Covid), so we went to Sam's. She finds out at Sam's Optical that they can't do eyeglasses because they are not deemed to be "essential", they can do contacts, contacts are essential, but not glasses. Somehow the brilliant minds that run this state came up with that one, although I believe most places that sell prescription eyeglasses are ignoring it.

It was a legit question. No baiting. Because there isn't a single credible national news channel, in my opinion. Right, left, front or back, they are all .

Here's an example on how MN officials are spending millions. For background, the state went from a $1.5B surplus to a $2.5B deficit in about 8 weeks. No government workers were laid off or furloughed. Some even got raises a few weeks ago.

This is from Department of Health memo to the state senate, dated June 5, 2020.

being facetious:greenalien:

i think disliking dr fauci and the job he's done is a fair enough argument (i wouldn't call myself a fan), but let's not act like the governors and other more local leaders aren't capable of making their own decisions (for better or worse). proof is the varied response from state to state, county to county, city to city (and province to province for us Canadians)

But shouldn’t they be making their decisions based on the information the head of infectious disease?
Sadly that position ended up being flat out wrong at every turn.

If you go to the doctor and he says, and he says you are ill and prescribes medicine, you don’t then go ask your mailman. You decide on your own to take it or not. No different.

I am still pretty shocked that anybody can defend this guy with how many times he has flip flopped despite supposedly basing things on science.

Well, I stated what I thought - you've got to read between the lines at what is news, filter it, and then take out the opinion pieces. The panel discussions and opinions are mostly worthless - they just interview like minded people. If you keep on watching any cable news, you're done unless you dismiss it. Actual videos are good at times when given context.

Oh, I had to post again so e1iiterate can post his dislike to evey post I make ... apparently I am very dislikeable even if I just post a report of corona cases ... lol ...

I'm not defending him, I think the whole thing has been bungled at nearly every level in a lot of areas. I'm just saying there's a lot of blame to go around, especially in hindsight.

One takes medical advice from a doctor. At the same time, one also shouldn't necessarily make for example home renovation decisions based on a doctor's advice. In this case, economic decisions were clearly made seemingly without regard for the economic ramifications. Why?

Because we were told by the head of infectious disease that without doing so, hundreds of thousands (even millions) would die.
Yes much of this is on China for fake news. Yes much of this is on the WHO.
But he is the one that wants to throw himself in front of the camera, and run all over the rest of the committee. So he wants the credit, he has to take the blame.

The fact that we are in the place we are in health wise, is so overlooked. Because despite what has been reported and not including NY, which ignored just about every facet of directive given, most of the country worked together with Birx, the administration and others and created a plan to get open.

While it should have never been completely locked down, the head of infectious disease, along with WHO and China deserve what they are getting.

With that said, the largest segment of blame should fall on the media for creating even larger fear with altered videos, opinion pieces portrayed as facts, etc. And as soon as the next click bait comes to pass, they dump this one for their next target of clicks and subs and the line continues. It is a terrible tragedy to the American Public that are blinded by it at every turn with no place to go.

There were a few sources of real news throughout the entire thing, but none of those were a media company.

Hell this thread has been more accurate than anything out there MSM wise.

I wouldn't say I have a problem, because ultimately he doesn't matter, but if it is mocking or even meant to generate from BLM, then any reasonable person should view it negatively. It is insensitive and deminimizes an important belief of a large group of people. Unless of course it has nothing to do with BLM, in which case it is just out of touch.

So when an important belief of a large group of people exists then no one should say anything about it ever? Really?

Played a course in my hometown today that took very few covid measures. Rakes in bunkers, regular pins, 2 per cart, sand in cart. You did need to sign a waiver to play... None of which affected my mediocre round.

You noticed that too, eh? They also list USA Today, NPR, The Hill and WSJ - none of which are anywhere near "center" judging from the online articles I've read from them. It's also hilarious that they have the NYT, The Atlantic, CNN "News" and WaPo as "lean left" rather than on the far left where they actually are.

I can certainly agree that one should be shouldering blame if they want to take credit.

Although some would disagree that nothing accurate came out of the media.

Let’s keep this one to covid rather than the other political events currently going on. Thanks.

Man, you are good, I’ll give you that. If you happen to be a criminal defense attorney you can represent me any time.
