the shelves are clear of masks and antibacterial wipes...

edit: and hand sanitizer

I’m out of hand sanitizer for my office (something I use all the time) at the wrong time. No store has any.

I haven't run into not being able to find anything in the stores, but being one of the few infectious disease people at work, I've had plenty of extra to do lately...

Here, not much. Although a local college is about to bring back all of their students who are currently in the largest potentially bad area of Italy, so stay tuned for NE Ohio. Might be about to go crazy since it can take so long to show symptoms.

No hand sanitizers in our local stores but we alway have stock at home. We are installing some dispensers at work this week....

No impact in The Sweetest Place on Earth other than the rush on masks. My wife is an internal medicine resident and they haven’t undergone any procedural changes as of yet.

The cynic in me tells me that it is in every state already and lack of awareness are playing a role in finding out.
The germ hater in me wants to boil myself every hour.

Over 200 students from Kent state are coming home from Italy soon. Kent is about an hour from me. CDC is planning to monitor them closely for 14 days. Should be interesting.

The two cases just reported in Florida are our neighboring counties. That's about it.
The HB lady recently went to that part of Italy too.

We have a specialist unit in one of the hospitals about 35 miles away from us that has treated a couple of patients, but other than that we haven't had anything out of the ordinary

My office is based in a medical site, and other than information signs being displayed, I haven't heard of any problems

Not so far...

I've read recently that hand sanitizer isn't as effective as soap and water because the sanitizer can create a bio-film on the skin's surface. Which sucks because typically there's no soap at work and hand sanitizer is rarely seen.

The media is making this worse than it seems. It’s much like the flu with a really bad cold. Most recover well. In my state I think there were 4 reported pediatric deaths and they are calling it the worst flu in decade, worse than it was a couple years ago.

I think this virus is and has been in the states. I think it was likely confused with the regular flu, and now that we are testing the numbers will start to go up.

As far as personal effect, my daughter just got back from a school trip to Italy (a week ago), and a few students from another school on her flight home were reported by the local News to have gotten sick (ended up Salmonella), they made a big deal, but never reported that the students did not have Covid Virus (irresponsible journalism in my opinion).

I'm going to start taking supplies from my office lol we have masks and these wipes that are super antibacterial

But I too don't think it's as bad as media outlets portray it to be. Yes there will be cases, but proper hygiene would prevent it's spread. Mortality rate is low, and yes will affect older people more significantly, just like any flu.

My wife and I were supposed to be in Italy for the month of February. My wife had some dental issues in January that made us cancel trip. I guess everything happens for a reason!

I have a trip planned to France in 3 weeks and getting a little anxious......

No local impacts that I see yet. But for work, the American Physical Society meeting in Denver was canceled the night before. 5-7K participants were supposed to attend. We also have a meeting with the National Science Foundation next week. I worry that will be canceled as well. IDK.

There is one I worry about locally. The university is hosting the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) meeting the end of March. My wife is helping to put that one together. Many thousand students will attend from across the country. I hope coronavirus doesn't impact it. Fingers crossed.

Nothing here so far other than the media scaring everyone including the schools. We got a message from the superintendent mainly about washing hands and stuff but it scared the kids, my daughter didn't even want to go to school. I think its a bit ridiculous if I'm being completely honest.

Nothing as far as I can tell. Work has hand sanitizer every 20 feet it seems but other then that , notta.

Other than effecting my work, not much to be heard. Little heavier on the hand sanitizer than I usually am but beyond that....meh.:confused2:

Im looking at it at this point as a potential stiff case of the flu. I think the media can’t help themselves when it comes to a new sensational story. I’m not elderly, my immune system isn’t compromised, no preexisting conditions And, at this point, the death rate does not seem to be significantly different than the flu

My friend had to cancel both a work trip and vacation to Japan due the outbreak, but nothing much else I've seen locally in Tucson.
