Corona Virus/COVID19: Local Impact

In some ways. So what? You think hospitals all over the country are committing fraud to get higher medicare payments?
Are privately held hospitals a for profit business?

So nice to hear a politician - or anyone for that matter - be that objective. You won’t hear much of that from any of our “leaders”.

I wonder if anyone who posted to this thread would admit they either overestimated or underestimated the virus.

We found an interesting addition to the golf carts at our course this morning: clear vinyl dividers. I'm guessing it's in an effort to allow two golfers to use the same cart without having to be from the same household. I will say, somebody is making money off this virus. A couple weeks back I looked into the "social distance" dots they put on store floors to keep you apart while waiting in line and they were running at roughly $40 each!

Also from what I've heard it sounds like there could be an announcement this week that our province is going to start reopening on a regional basis. Currently Toronto is holding the rest of us back; they have the high population density and the highest numbers as a result. Hard to make a smaller city with zero cases suffer as a result.
Is this for real? I’m thinking this is somebody’s attempt at humor.

WOW. It’s so refreshing to see a politician being objective and rational. Imagine a world where that was the norm.

lots of "not me, though" to go around

Now AZ has a curfew due to the riots. Just when Covid disappeared.

I overestimated it, but also recognize that we are not at the finish line yet. I also am aware that this was based on the best information available, which turned out to be pretty crap. As I’ve said many times here, somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

And I feel like a jerk saying it. Regardless of age or health conditions 100k and counting have died. That is a national tragedy. And yes, jobs and the health implications of lost employment is important, but 100k have DIED.

Regardless, still maintaining social distancing. Working from home as much as possible and following the state’s phased guidelines (because I think they are thoughtful, health focused and generally good).

You're not a jerk for feeling that way, but I get it. It's how I feel as well. I overestimated it or at least overestimated what actions should be taken. There is a reality out there of how bad this is and I'm not exactly sure what that is. I truly believe this is no seasonal flu and I'm not ok with folks dying just because they have existing health conditions. On the other hand, so many folks are out of work when in most cases, perhaps simple precautions are only needed.

There is no indication Floyd was uncooperative. And the other officers on the scene who took part haven’t been charged with anything.

Hmmm. Anytime I’ve been overly cautious and overtly nice to a police officer, I’ve been treated with 100% respect as I have them. The only times I’ve had any issues is when I’ve been lippy with them.

Maybe everyone should adopt that? I don’t give a shiit what race you are. If you show the policeman (no matter his race either) that you are cooperating, he’ll likely be nice to you. You may still get a ticket but he won’t kill you.

Maybe this is a one off? I don’t know the details. But I’ve found that generally if I present myself a decent human, so will they. Do everything to take their fear off of you and you’ll likely be ok.

Jesus. Excuse me my Christian brethren but one death where the person involved has been charged????????????????? ??????????

Find Sumpin else to be righteously indignant at. For GD real. I love all people. Black, white, yellow, green. I don’t care. If you’re a good person you are good in my book.

I don’t give a flying fook what your color is, if you come at me aggressive you are being put down. The level of that depends on how I see the threat. I just want good folks to associate with. That’s all. If you’re not, go away. Stay away. Don’t make me hurt you. I don’t want to, trust me. But I will if that’s what it takes.

I don't believe that anyone at all has ever said or meant that just because someone had existing health conditions, that "it's ok that they die".
I believe the point behind bringing comorbidities into the convo, is that even the flu could have increased the chance of death to someone who has them, and sadly, some may have been already knocking on Heaven's door.

We need some peace right now.

November 3rd will soon be upon us and the Covid will behind us. Right now Antifa is putting it in the rear view mirror quicker than time.

Guys enough already. We asked multiple times to keep this about the virus and stop with the race stuff.

Not a joke. Every cart they brought out of storage had them.

Glad to hear you pulled through.
This is an example why casinos and similar businesses should not reopen until a vaccine is widespread.

It'll spread like wildfire when casino reopens I'm afraid

Good read, thanks for sharing. Couple of questions, if you don’t mind. How old are you? Immune deficiencies? How long before you started feeling better after they started you on R? Did you/they consider Hydroxichloroquine? Congrats on the recovery.

I did ask them and they said it's been effective but not close to Resdesivir
