Different Grips for Different Clubs?

I like different grips on my longer clubs.
Not sure why.
I totally get it.

I definitely wanted firmer, more grippy in the irons and wedges...but I generally like softer grips in the long game clubs.

We'll see how it goes. I'm sure they will all be fine - but if I were predict any issues, it would be not liking them in the long clubs and/or in my LW.

My grips are all over the place. I really need to invest in some consistency with them, but to this point it hasn't bothered me too much.

I MUST have the same grips on all my clubs but putter. When I get a different feel in my hands I start thinking about that instead of focusing on the shot at hand. Makes me nuts.
I definitely understand that...lol.

For me, it wasn't so much needing the same grip - but at least the same size grip that I've gotten used to.

I have a mix of grips in my bag.

Align grips on all my longer clubs - D, 3W, 3h, 4h
CP2 Wrap on my 5 and 6 hybrids
CP2 Regular on my irons and wedges

Put the wrap on my shorter hybrids, since I just got them, to see if I prefer them over the CP2 regular. Jury is still out, only been a couple of rounds of playing them so far this year.

Taking from @cagolfer 's thread last week on grip choices...

I have an entire new set of swing grips that was delivered today - Golf Pride MCC Align Plus 4 midsize.

It was mostly for my irons over anything else but at the time, I realized I've never had grip uniformity throughout the bag and thought it would be cool.

Now as I sit here ripping grips off my clubs, I'm pondering...I put a Super Stroke (Lamkin) Crossline 2.0 on my 7 wood when I reshafted it last year, and I really liked it.

I'm wondering if I would like those grips on my long game clubs (driver, mini, 2 iron, 7 wood) better than the MCCs.

Does that make sense...or should I stay the course with having matching grips through the bag?
I'm a proponent to keeping grips the same throughout the bag. It gives the same feel in your hands, regardless of what club your holding (obviously outside of the putter). The more variables we can eliminate, the more consistant things can become.

I have this namely because 1, I buy and try new clubs often.

And 2, my hands don't sweat so I'm not particularly picky about grips. I do feel like I have preferences though.

Now that I've bit the bullet and went all-in on it, I'll probably order a few more of the grips to have some stock - because my golf bag tends to be like the cold November rain...nothing lasts forever.

The grips I use now are on their way out as the new SS Revl series is essentially replacing them. So I've been stocking up on them when I see them. Eventually I'll have to replace them with something else. :-(

I have GP Z-Align Cord midsized grips on 12 of my 13 clubs that aren't a putter. I recently put a midsize GP Tour Wrap on my 58-degree wedge though. I really like the soft feel with all of my short game shots.

I mix a little bit. But usually just to try differrent things.

My go to is Tour Velvet 360 with 3 wraps. They wear pretty quickly though

But I have MCC Midsize on my hybrids as I used to play them. And I don't regrip them as often - so I just haven't swapped them out.

I may switch back to them because they are just so durable. Though I may go MCC Plus 4's instead.

I play MCC midsize on all Irons/wedges and SuperStroke REVL comfort midsize on all my woods.

I play JMX smalls on woods and midsize on everything else. I have found that it has helped my tempo on the woods.

After many years of mixed grips I switched to preferring same size, same wraps of tape, same brand and model of grip on all my clubs. I do have different colors on the three wedges.

I personally like having my grips match throughout the bag, but that’s just my preference.

All of my grips are the same through the bag except putter.

In the days where I played a grip with cord I would play cordless in my lob/sand wedge because I hit those without a glove and I like the softer rubber on the bare hand. (Shameless plug, ICONs give you the best of both worlds).

I have also messed around with smaller grips on woods to help make it easier to turn over. There is a major OEM that does this, use 60 round on woods and 58 round on irons.

I try to stay uniform on the grips. I’d love to find a midsize grip that is around 50g and not 60g.

I've used some sort of Golf Pride Align grips for many years, but jump to standard Tour Velvets (no Align rib) on wedges where I am more likely to be intentionally opening or closing the face.
