Do you always identify your ball before you hit it?

I try. But I’m so afraid of touching someone else golf ball to check, that I will stand over it forever waiting ( kind of like the dude who waits for the “gimme” on the green). I’ll stand paralyzed until I’m sure. Really.

It's been instilled in my brain from tournament golf to always identify on the tee before we start....and I had one situation early on in my golf career where I saw a teammate get penalized for the wrong ball so it's become habit to at least glance and make sure

Especially if we have multiple people with the same brand

Every time. It’s part of my process.

I draw a blue box around the Callaway logo so I can see pretty quickly if it is my ball or not. I do always look to make sure it is mine. One time had a random that was using Callaway Super Softs and always wanted to hit my Chrome Tours. I had to bust out some random Yellow Chrome Tours I had in the bag so he would stop.

On the 1st tee I am about 50% announcing that I am playing Callaway with a blue box around it.

Absolutely! Made the mistake once in league and it will never happen again. Same with my ball is always marked with a lime green dot, no one else I've found uses the color so works well. I've had to call some out after trying to hit my ball before in league also.

Generally speaking, I am the only one playing a yellow triple track so it is relatively easy. I can't remember the last time I saw another person playing that with me. Honestly, I almost always am the only person playing a yellow ball. But I initial all of them and double-check if I am unsure.

Yes. Its typically pretty easy, as I am the only one playing Triple Track or Tru Track.

No worse feeling than playing someone else's, or realizing someone else played yours.

I always check to make sure it’s my ball. Right now I’m playing orange and yellow divides, so it’s a super easy process. lol

I do from a brand and model perspective. But I'm making it a habit to check a but closer, and know what others in my group are playing. Had one issue last year where we were playing the same ball and didnt know, and I didn't look closely enough to ensure it was mine before hitting.

After seeing it happen to @JasonFinleyCG in our match at this years Grandaddy, I will always identify mine moving forward.

Absolutely.

yep.

I do... But I'm rarely in a group with another TruTrack or Truvis user.

I always mark my balls with a sharpie.

I'm usually playing a CT LE, Truvis, Tru-Track or Triple Track ball, so it's easy to know the ball is mine.

Even makes finding the ball in the woods a breeze, which I know quite well...

Yes, always. Sometimes anxiety comes in handy 😂

Depends on the round for me. Competitive or league play, always. A weekend knock around with the boys with no stakes, I can't say I always check.

I do. I've hit the wrong ball in the past and seen others do it so I always make sure.

Pretty much always.

I did play 2024 with a Chromesoft Truvis, and so it was always pretty obvious but I do also mark my ball with 3 orange sharpie dots next to the Callaway name - just in case !

Whilst I haven't hit someone else's ball I have the group ahead of me come over to my fairway and hit my ball in mistake despite the fact I had pointed out where their ball was 🤷‍♂️

This year I'm moving to Chrome Tour and I'll either be using TruTack or Triple Track - I even have some yellows - so I should be OK but those orange dots are my failsafe.

I wouldn’t say always, no. I’m often playing solo or with a usual group.

In tournament rounds I’m much more cautious and both mark and check my ball.

I have seen this in tournament play and it was a 2stroke penalty. Brutal.

Always but I do know a few folks who just look and see brand and swing away. That is even after we state brand of ball we are playing 99% of the time before we tee off.

That is one benefit to playing a truvis/tru track ball. Usually ball is so unique it doesn't need an identifier. Especially when I was playing a ball like the THP chicken wing ball. I miss that ball. Someone stole it at my Muni and I saw it in their cart. They tried to claim it was theirs. That was funny.

Yes it takes 1 second.
