I've always wondered if "the stop" was a regional thing. Having played golf for 38 years with most of it in CA and AZ, "the stop" has never been a thing at any course I've played. You grab a dog/candy bar and a drink at most and get right back out there, or you lose your place on the course and nobody is going to be very sympathetic about letting you back in ahead of them. It’s sad the “stop” has gone by the wayside. I enjoyed the good old days of trying to sober up with a dog, maybe some chicken tenders, catching a little college football (even though I don’t really watch football) then heading back out. But then again we had AA batteries in the speakers and iPods were new fangled gadgets.
Now everyone wants to hurry up and get home so they can complain on the internet about slow play.
