Do you get nervous when going through a fitting?

I would not say nervous. Sometimes I get frustrated when I know I can do better and my best hasnt shown up. But then I remember I need to be fit to limit these misses and showing them my best isnt always ideal.

Not nervous. Just need to make sure I get warm and some swings in first. Love testing new clubs so really enjoyed all the fittings I've had

Always nervous and always a little uncomfortable in my messed up mind full of scars.

I will probably be a little nervous, considering my first fitting will be at Shaft Up, in front of a bunch of THPers...lol

Maybe I'll go through a practice fitting beforehand so it's not quite so unnerving.

Woods and irons - no
Wedges - I don't think I've ever hit a good wedge in a fitting. Nervous decel enters the equation.

Yeah the last one I did. It was like I forgot how to swing a club like I know/knew how. I haven’t in the past but the last time I really did

A bit.
But my biggest issue is that I'm not comfortable hitting indoors into a screen.
Best fittings I've had were outdoors, hitting off grass. ( Hot Stix in Scottsdale for one )
Definitely prefer an outdoor fitting. Much more comfortable

Not really, I know my flaws and am sure the fitter has seen about every type of swing so nothing too be nervous about.

nope. But I am pretty familiar with a lot of the staff at Redtail. Took lessons there, have been fit there handful of times...

And also, I know going in I am ignorant. I will be the first to admit I don't understand shaft flexes, swing weights, loft, lie, etc. I am slowly starting to learn but my lack of knowledge dwarfs my knowledge so fittings, like many things in my life, I figure I am paying the person who knows so I don't have to.

To demonstrate fully my ignorance...back around 2011 I went in for first fitting. While waiting I spotted some shafts that were gorgeous. Black and red, a favorite color combo of mine. I was all in on them. It took about a millisecond for the fitter to dissuade me of them as they were graphite and would not stand up to what at that point was a swing between 103 and 107 with a few going higher (it is much slower now and graphite has come a long way but at that time...never the twain shall meet).

It was a great experience that has meant ever since then I rely on the fitter. If there is one particular thing I am looking for I will mention it but otherwise...just go in, hit some balls, walk out looking forward to receiving new clubs in x time when they are ready.

Nope. I’m not there to impress anyone, and I have no allusions about how good my swing is relative to others. So nothing to be nervous about.

Maybe on the first one a bit, but I can't even remember being nervous on that one if I'm being honest. I just want to go swing my swing and let the fitter figure out the best option for it.

Nope. No reason to be ;)

I don't get nervous about a fitting, I get uncomfortable hitting indoors, especially with the driver. I feel boxed in and don't fully commit.

I am always at first but once i get a few swings in i get settled down some. It is tough though and sometimes takes longer than others to get settled depending on the fitter.

I was nervous at my very first fitting. Once I realized that the fitter didn't really care what my swing looked like it made it easier to settle down. Now I just hope that my normal swing shows up, but i'm not nervous during it.

Definitely. There’s two fittings ever I remember being completely composed and that was unexpected.

After I got the first couple of swing under my belt, no.

Also, a good fitter will be able to make you feel at ease

I’ve only done ECPC and was a little nervous, but I think I’d be pretty chill if I did another one

There are quite a few tricks I use when golfers get a bit nervy during a fitting. Sometimes just like finding the right club, it’s finding the right cadence or methods to calm them down.
Sometimes it’s a break, sometimes it’s in conversation. I’ve had players start hitting off the tee to help ease into contact, i’ve moved from just a driving range view to giving a target so there is a focus shift, and sometimes it’s just giving them a moment alone where i will walk away and have them feel like I’m not just staring at them.

I did. Until, I found a fitter that I was comfortable with.

Same here. I used to detest fittings - a lot of experiences where nerves got the best of me. The worst being when I was Pheonix for work and made an appt at PING to get fit. I looked like I never hit a golf club before. The fitter just threw some generic specs down out of pity.

3 years ago I had a good experience with a really good custom fitter who owns his own place here. For whatever reason the way he approached it put me at ease. I swung the club well that day and play the driver I got from him. (Though we did switch to the 10k head when it came out and he suggested the Lin-Q Blue later which I love too)

Now I've become a bit of a fiting junky. I got one at the PGA Tour Superstore that came with a membership my wife had gotten me. I'd gotten one at GolfTec at December during their annual sale.

I feel a lot more comfortable in the process. I just hate that there's such a wide variety of quality between fitters.

Nope. The last fitting was worse. Swinging for the fences.

Not normally, but I also tend to suck at fittings with just having ppl watch so yeah all good here.
