Do you get nervous when going through a fitting?

I don’t get nervous. I’ve actually had some good fittings recently.

Nope. It's a fitting, not a biopsy. Go do your thing and move on.

At an indoor fitting I get nervous as I get very claustrophobic swinging indoors, feel like I am going to hit walls. Outdoors I rarely get nervous as I get to warm up away from the fitting area so am warmed up by the time I stand in front of the fitter.

Yeah, it happens. You wanna make swings that are representable and if it's not working that day it stinks.

No I like fittings comparing and trying to find data patterns is fun for me. I know my swing won’t be consistent because that’s my swing so I don’t worry about that because my game is not perfect and I want data and swings that reflect my real game

The last fitting I had, I s-worded a 3 wood shot so bad in the bay that the ball hit a stanchion and careened through the entire front of the store.

I was already nervous enough because it was an early spring fitting when I hadn't really gotten out much yet, that damn shot is going to live in my head rent-free at every single fitting I have from now until the end of time.

Oh no!
In a weird way that might calm me down knowing well I just did that so some big bananas or pop ups aren’t so embarrassing anymore haha

Not even alligators in Florida Water Hazards?
Funny. Maybe I would be more cautious, but seeing an alligator wouldn't bother me that much.

No alligators out here, but we do have rattlesnakes, and other nasty critters that keeps me from sticking my hands in brushy areas looking for a mishit ball.

100%. My bigger issue is not actually swinging my swing. I see numbers up there and I try to hit them. Driver only carrying 235? I know I can hit it farther than that. Then the wheels fall off.

Irons seems to be even worse. The last time I tried to get fit for irons, it felt like I had never swung a club in my life. I didn't hit a single solid shot. So disheartening. I walked out 10 times more confused than when I walked in.

Dumb question, why not just have them turn the projector off so you cant see the numbers? The fitter can go through the numbers with you after each round of hitting, which keeps you honest.

Not a dumb question at all and probably the better approach for me. But, being an internet golfer I just "had to see" you know? My next fitting I may actually ask that they don't show me my numbers and just be as neutral and agnostic as I can possibly be.

I'm not sure that turning he projector completely off would work because I actually need that visual in front of me. But I wonder if there's a way to not display my numbers up there?

I always feel like my swing during a fitting is never as good or consistent as my normal swing on the course. For example, during my fitting at the 2018 #TheGranddaddy, I never hit so many "fat" shots in a row in my life! I actually felt embarrassed to be there!

It is also why I somewhat question the technology behind PXG's Gen 8 irons. They can adjust the toe and heel weight to dial in a specific ball flight with different weights, but what if one's swing that day isn't the same as their swing day-to-day on the course? Correct for a fade during the fitting and end up hitting big draws or hooks on the course? I am going to ask and guess I will find out later next week.
