Do you have a “Augusta” around you?

Ya good point. So I guess we don’t really have one around here.
What about Fairlawn Country Club. I've heard good things about that or even Beachmont CC?

Yeah we have some amazing privates in this area like Plantation, Sawgrass CC (not the one people know), Pablo, etc etc and with in an hour or so have a dozen other super exclusive, but most of the time you can get on. But then again, I have played Kinloch before which was the example in the OP and it was just okay. Nice facility though.
I forgot about Pablo Creek...that might be the one, but I've only heard about it.

Yellowstone Club
Rock Creek
Stock Farm

Crag Burn is a good call. Another Robert Trent Jones Sr designed course. Probably the only one I would say in the Buffalo area.
It’s such a good course. CCB is good too as it’s a classic Donald Ross but Crag Burn is definitely better

yup. Its called Winged Foot. For about a 300K membership fee I can get on. Thinking about starting a GoFundMe page. Anyone want to donate?
Just join sleepy hollow. Bargain at $250k?

(Honestly have no idea how much but that’s what I heard)

Ohhhh what's Stock Farm?
Up by Hamilton. My friend's neither worked there last summer, so he got to play it and said it was incredible. Musberger (or similar, can't remember) was in the group ahead of him.

Yes it was Blue Lakes Country Club in Twin Falls Idaho. I say was because I became a member 4 years ago.
I joined having never played it a single time. You just knew it was that good.
It is pretty unique in that it is in the Snake river canyon and the Pierine bridge (Highway 93) goes across the canyon above it by 486 feet above the Canyon floor. Its is a remarkable track that utilizes the natural topography nearly perfectly. The side canyons, shear walls, water falls, the bridge, natural blue lakes, gushing springs out of basalt rock, and the immaculate shape make this a top 10 course in the state of Idaho.

I actually saw aerial views of the course on a podcast that showed the progress of the Great Bonneville Flood!

Firestone South

True. And the North is no slouch. I was thinking of someplace like Canterbury.

Exclusive to see the course is different than exclusive to be a member and play the course. :D

Agreed. Its pretty crazy how many insanely good golf courses ( that I can't afford ) are all around 10 minutes from my house.

This is an image 7 miles wide by 5 miles tall with 9 golf courses. In this image are dozens of LPGA events, a Ryder Cup and multiple PGA Championship events, PGA Nationwide tour stops and US Amateur championship courses. Included are 4 Donald Ross design course, 2 Robert Trent Jones designed courses ( and 2 courses redesigned/refreshed by Jones ), 2 courses designed by Pete Craig ( local designer who has done a dozen courses locally ) and 1 by Seymour Dunn, a Scottish designer who wrote "Golf Fundamentals" in 1922 and started the first mail order club business.

Rochester has some great golf courses. I’ve been to the PGA and Senior PGA at Oak Hill and I have played Monroe twice.

Nothing that exclusive in my area.

Probably closest to me with that credential is Congaree.

And then you have Old Sawmill in Berkeley County, Cherokee Plantation near Yemassee, SC,

SC has some nice and exclusive private clubs.

I always think of Cypress Point in Northern California. The next one I think of is the Olympic Club, although I know there are ways to get out there. Cypress Point is a place I will only dream of.

you heard right @Revan. I volunteered at the USGA Mid Am 2023 that was held at Sleepy Hollow. That's what one of the members said. It also is a beautiful course.

I can get onto Whisper Rock fairly often, as my brother is a member there. I guess the most exclusive private club in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is Silverleaf? Not too sure, but there's so many courses here that I don't worry too much about not playing one of them! lol

Pine Valley is an obvious one, but the one that popped into my head was Due Process, very limited membership, kind of mysterious as to how to get invited to join and almost never more than a few groups out per day.

Only one private club around here, it's where all the bigwigs play, the local riff-raff that play the muni & daily fees refer to it as 'Bushwood'......fitting
I got to play it once in a junior tournament they put on, otherwise i can't sniff the place.

In Fla we have some rather costly exclusive only clubs, and one ( a new 18 hole course ) that seems to be really invite only is The Dye Course @ White Oak located near Yulee & Hillard Fla. It is said to have NO members. And it is the last Pete Dye designed course and no one can play it, unless you donate $1M to their conservation fund.

Crystal Downs is 30 min from my house. It's extremely exclusive.

From their website...

Crystal Downs was designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie at the peak of his career, following his design of Cypress Point and prior to the creation of Augusta National.

Crystal Downs remains unaltered from its original design and represents one of the finest examples in the world of Dr. MacKenzie’s work.

Crystal Downs appears in every golf design critic's listing of top courses in the world. It has been ranked as high as #14 in Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World and #11 in Golf Digest’s Top 100 U.S. Courses. The par four 5th hole and the par five 8th hole are frequently cited as two of the greatest golf holes in the world.

Honestly, I don't see the attraction, but to each their own.

I was going to play the public course across the river on Memorial Day or day after…just saying…

Will be driving back to CA from my place in the Tetons

Stone Canyon
I’ve played just about all the others around the Tucson area.
Some of our “private” clubs are more like exclusive resort courses.

Out of all the exclusive NY clubs, Friar’s Head is the top of my list. Next is Sebonack. I need to make some new friends!

Royal Melbourne , would be closest most exclusive club ,,,,, rates in worlds top 10.

You can get on but it’s very limited timeframes and special events , and fairly expensive to play also .

Similarly “ the sand belt courses” are of great stature but access is predominantly difficult.

I always think of Cypress Point in Northern California. The next one I think of is the Olympic Club, although I know there are ways to get out there. Cypress Point is a place I will only dream of.

I have read that after Cypress Point went "really" private, they have refused some US Presidents the opportunity to play there if they disagreed with their politics. "Oh, we're sorry Mr. President. We have a member/guest that day and are full up!" I say really private because Cypress used to be one of the courses played during the Pebble Beach tournament, the old "Crosby Clambake". The par 3 on the coast was wild, and a subject of great discussion. Some thought it to one of the greatest golf holes on the planet, others thought it was no sort of golf hole at all!

A little bit closer to home, I thought of Sand Ridge Golf Club. I was running sales routes in the area when it opened and saw the sign driving by. I turned around and pulled in, and found myself in awe! It looked like Augusta! It was maybe the greenest green that I have ever seen in my life! An area sand & gravel mining magnate bought almost 400 acres of property, hired Tom Fazio and told him to use whatever property he needed to create the best course that he could. I looked up their website, and the flyover images are really spectacular. If you want to see it go to "Mayfield Sand Ridge Club". Turns out there's another Sand Ridge in Florida.

Pine valley is just an hour from me
