Do You Practice Swing?

I do not practice swing.

full swings, normal shot, 1 (2 if the first didnt feel comfortable), uncomfortable shot, maybe 2-3 (5 ish seconds)
putting - usually 3 (10 seconds) - tap in, 0-2 practice swings depending on distance

usually 1 practice swing. unless it was a bad one, then I'll take another 1 or 2.

Yes, 1 swing, about 10 seconds. But, I have my ball and club in hand ready to go when it's my turn, so I waste no time.

Two at the most, but sometimes as I'm standing there everything just feels right for some reason, I won't take any swings and just step up and take my shot.

I was thinking of this thread during my round today and timed my practice swing several times. It adds about 3-4 seconds to my pre-shot routine.

Also, we played 18 holes in 2:48 today, so I'm not too concerned about its effect on pace of play.

The only practice swings I take are for chips or if I have a difficult lie to try and gauge if I can get my club thru the ground smoothly. If I'm on the tee, fairway, or a good lie in the rough then I just fire away with no practice swings.

Typically no, maybe if it's a tricky chip or something out of the rough. Otherwise no. So normal routine takes zero seconds of practice swings.

I’ll practice swing a chip but full shots there usually isn’t a practice swing involved

I nearly always hit better with a practice swing first.

Usually no practice swing for me. I think the only area it would benefit me is around the green to test the ground on chips. Or maybe every now in then in an awkward lie.

No practice swings for me. Ain't gonna make a difference. A 4 second pre-shot routine... yep I do that.

I dont. If I am waiting for others in my group who are in the middle of a swing I may waggle the club just to get a feel for it but when its my turn to hit I get my line, address and away we go
Does it ever feel different than the last time you hit it? :p

Swing away!

I take on practice swing more often than not I guess. I'm trying to go back to none unless it's more of a feel shot. Probably takes about 10 seconds max when I take one practice swing.

Pretty much only on partial wedge shots. Everything else I do not take a practice swing

For a while I wasn't, but lately I've been doing one. May go back away from it though, since I don't think it helps much on full swings. It's about 10-15 seconds when I do.

For partial swings I always do one or two to get the feel of the target swing in then go. Similar, maybe 15-20 seconds.

Only with the driver, less than full wedges or something in the rough. With a driver I want to feel a free swing to a full finish. Having one practice swing helps me with that. For less than full wedges I use a clock system so I like a rehearsal for what I want. In the rough I want to feel the resistance of the grass. I only take one so it doesn’t take me much additional time. There isn’t a bunch of waggles etc. Just something quick to make sure I am properly committed to the shot. For putts I don’t take any practice strokes.

Nope, not after I’m warmed up if the lie is straight forward. My full pre-shot routine is less than 15 seconds.

I found practice swings can have a negative affect on my confidence #headcase

I find that my shots are much better if i waggle or take the club back once about halfway. This takes about 20-25 seconds, but an eternity of THP time!

A practice swing is part of my pre-shot routine. My pre-shot routine takes very little time and others have remarked at how quickly I hit when I am ready or it’s my turn. I have never timed myself but my guess is 10 seconds or less.

No practice swings for me, I just step up to the ball and get after it....much like Charley Hull

No Way GIF

no traditional practice swings, although I might take a quarter swing to get a feel for the ground

If I’m feeling good and confident, no.

So yeah, usually a quick one not even a full swing. Just to loosen up my arms a quick light back and through and start bringing in focus.
