First of all, do you wear a golf glove? If so, do you wear it all the time? On every shot? Do you take it off for some shots? If so, which ones?

I myself tend to take it off for chip shots around the green & putting. I never leave it on for putting. I honestly don't know why, other than I always have. I guess it's for feel, especially with the putter.

What say you THP?

I take the glove off for putting and chipping.

But I also see some people take it off after every shot... because swampy hand?

Mine stays on from my tee shot on the first until my last putt on the 18th. Has always been the same for me.

That said if I was playing in extremely hot, or humid weather I might reconsider it.

Full swings only

Not when putting or chipping.

I do wear a glove. I take it off for putting

I never wear gloves. I keep them in my bag and may use them once a year, if it gets cold out in San Diego or if I hurt a finger.

I play better with a glove, but they always just feel terrible to me.

I wear one for full swing shots, and sometimes chips. Take it off for most chip/pitch shots and putting.

I prefer the feel and grip the glove gives me on full swing shots, and prefer the tactile feedback of putting without a glove.

I take my glove off between shots so it doesn’t get too wet and stretched out while I’m walking. That means that when I get to my ball at or near the green I don’t have my glove on. So, I don’t put it on for chipping, and already have it off to putt.

All that goes out the window if it’s raining. In that case, my rain gloves just stay on.

In the summer, I take it off in between every shot. Otherwise, I go thru 3 - 4 gloves a round

I'm strange and sometimes take it off putting and sometimes leave it on. Occasionally, play without one at all.

I wear one every shot. Will rotate 2 or 3 gloves sometimes if it's hot/ humid.

Makes sense. Humid area thing..
Wait.. you go thru 3-4 different gloves a round? Wear one while others dry out?

Incidentally, how did that start? Who was the first person to say, "well, the left hand (top hand) is the driver of the golf swing, so let's put a glove on there to remind us that the top hand guides the club."

Pretty much the same for me. I do wear it for bunker shots though.

yeah pretty much. in the humidity I'm sweatin' more than a sinner at a tent revival.

Yes, for all shots and putting.

I just leave it on all round. It does nothing for me around the green, but I've just never gone through the process of taking off, putting back on 17 times.

Full swing only. Unless I'm lazy and not playing great, then I may leave it on for a few hole stretch.

makes sense... I had no idea this is a thing. I guess it's better than skin cracking and bleeding from the dryness.
especially if you use grips like the MCC ... anything with cord at the top

I avoid using leather, and previously I could just find a glove that’s fully synthetic. But the last few years it’s gotten significantly tougher to find a glove without any leather, as even the cheapest models seem to be putting a bit of leather on the thumb/palm. So I have played a few rounds with no glove at all to try it out. It’s doable, but not the greatest feeling. Definitely would be hard to play multiple days in a row with no glove without seeing some wear & tear on the hands.

Also, I take my glove off for chips & putts.

Glove comes off for putting and chipping, and typically within 50y or so of the green.
