My bag is all set for 2018.

I went into 2017 having never broken the 50 barrier for 9 holes and ended with a 18.0/8.6N calculated handicap. My best rounds were 85 and 86 for 18 holes and 39 and 40 for 9 holes. My goal for next year is to: #1 Have as much fun as possible, #2 Try to break 90 more often than not.

When I'm not swinging well I am hitting a fade that can turn into a slice. When I am playing well I am hitting it straight to a slight fade.

Golf bag for 2018:

Cart - Clicgear 3.5+ black/charcoal - Recently purchased switched from Tour Trek One Click

Bag - 2016 Sun Mountain C130 with Team Titleist badge attached

Driver - Titleist 915D2 10.5* with Diamana S+ R-flex typically set to standard loft and maximum upright, standard grip and length. Backup driver is Ping K15 with Graffaloy ProLaunch Blue R-flex.

Fairway - Titleist 915F 15* with Diamana S+ R-flex typically set to 16.5* loft and maximum upright, standard grip and length. Typical use is as a backup tee shot club although use more off the deck this year.

Hybrids - All Titleist 816H1 with Diamana S+ R-flex. 19* and 23* set to standard loft, 25* set to 27* and all maximum upright, Golf Pride 360 demo grip (red), standard length. I switched from Ping G15 late in the 2017 season.

Irons - Titleist 718 AP1 6 iron through 48* wedge with True Temper AMT Black R300, standard loft and lie, Golf Pride 360 white grip, standard length. I switched from Ping G15 late in the 2017 season. I was fit for these at a Titleist Thursday @ Cantigny golf course in Wheaton, IL.

Wedges - Titleist SM5 54*14 F-grind and 58*07 S-grind with standard Vokey shaft, standard loft and lie, standard grip.

Putter - This is the pride of my collection the Piretti Forza Patriotic Special Edition, 35" and 70 degree lie with Iomic mid size grip in black and black head cover. Thanks to my wonderful wife for the putter, the putter is brand new. I tried to use a Odyssey 2-ball earlier in 2017 and struggled. I putted much better with an Odyssey #9 late in the season. I'm really looking forward to breaking out the Piretti. I really like the heavier weight, it keeps my stroke stable.

Ball - I have a bit of a backlog here. I have the most of Titleist 2015 ProV1X (3 doz). I also have a dozen each of Callaway Hex Tour Black and 2017 ProV1. I have some surlyn balls too that I'll use when my swing is off or I don't want to risk losing the tour balls: Top Flite Gamer Soft (1.75 doz) , Callaway Supersoft (1.75 doz), Bridgestone E6 (1 doz), Bridgestone E7 (0.75 doz). My preference is ProV1X.

Electronics - Bushnell V4 laser rangefinder and Garmin G3 GPS

Odds and ends:

The C130 bag and Clicgear 3.5+ as a combination does not have a great reputation, but I am finding they fit very well together. If I move the driver in its slot, the ClicGear top opens easily and clears without any issue. I really like all of the storage options the C130 bag has.

My shortest hybrid and 6 iron are the same loft (27*). I need to confirm through additional play that these will gap correctly. I think they will.

That's a great looking setup!

Putter looks sweet! Maybe a clearer pic of it, if you have a chance?

That is a nice setup dave!!

One heck of a set up you got there and I love the color coordination

I ended up golf club swapping much more than intended in 2018. During the season I ended up using 6 different driver's at different periods in time, changed both fairways and hybrids, and 3 different sets of irons. I didn't spend a lot of money as most items I already had or bought on the cheap, but it really hurt my game score wise. It also created stress and generally reduced the fun I had with golf.

I started off the year very poorly; weather here was bad early in the spring, I was busy with work and didn't have a lot of time to play, and my swing earlier this year could be fairly classified as high maintenance. All in all it was a disaster.

I've come to a conclusion that the club swapping MUST stop for more fun, keeping my sanity, and for the quality of golf. I've made an oath to myself to this end that my bag will be frozen in 2019. I take the oath seriously, this is no joke.

So, here's the bag plan for 2019.

Driver - Titleist 917D2 9.5* with shaft TBD.

I started last year with the Cobra F7 and Titleist 10.5* 915D2. The F7 went nowhere and felt/sounded kind of weird and 915D2 kept going right. I experimented with left bias drivers until I fixed my swing flaws and ultimately ending up back with the 915D2 until I picked up the 917D2. I have it set at A2 and aim for the left edge of the fairway and fade it back over the middle. I've been hitting 61% of fairways so far with the 917D2. I appreciate the lower flight versus the 10.5* 915D2.

Driver and 3 wood will alternate tee shot duty based off how I'm feeling that day and hole length.

Fairways: Titleist 917F2 15* with Diamana Limited S+ (blue) regular flex

The 15* is planned to be the a key tee club.

Driving Iron: Mizuno MP18 MMC Fli Hi 3 iron (19*) with TT AMT Tour White R300

I bought this over the winter, but quite honestly it is not working out.

Hybrids - Titleist 816H1 19* and 23* each with Diamana S+ (blue) regular flex.

I used the 816s for most of 2018 except while I went on a G25 kick. The 19* is primarily a max advance off the deck club and the 23* is a good go to for par 5 layup second shots and 165-170 yard par 3s.

Irons - Titleist 716 AP2 4-PW with True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT R300.

I started last year with the 718 AP1 and also used both the G15 and Maltby TE before ending up back with the AP1s later in the year. While the AP1s work well they don't feel or look quite as nice as I would like. I decided I'm all in on great feel and looks and appreciating the good shots this year and am willing to put the hard work in to hit the irons well.

I bought the 716 AP2s recently and picked them up last Monday. I've had them out twice since, the first time as a feel out and the 2nd time keeping score. I shot a 44 which is pretty good for me and better than my 45.8 average. The irons were a strong contributor to the success. I know the AP2s are not considered the best choice for my handicap, but I really like them and think they are forgiving enough. Either way I'm 100% dug in here and will work through any issues if they present themselves.

Wedges - Titleist Vokey SM6 50*12 F and SM7 56*14 F.

The 50* is for chipping when low is desired and for gapping purposes. The 56* chips when higher is desired and out of the sand.

Putter - Piretti Forza Patriotic Special Edition, 35" and 70 degree lie with Iomic mid-size grip in black

I used the same putter all year. My wife bought me this as an early Christmas gift last year and I love it. I can't imagine changing it. I really like the heavy #9 head style.

Ball - Primarily Top Flite Gamer, also have limited numbers of other options and have used Supersoft with some success.

Cart - Clicgear 3.5+ black/charcoal, used all year, love it.

Bag - 2016 Sun Mountain C130, used all year, love it.

Electronics -
Bushnell V4 laser rangefinder and Garmin G3 GPS, used both all year and really like them.
