Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today the founder of Edison Wedges, Terry Koehler joins the conversation to talk all about the equipment.

It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Terry talk about his history with wedges and how this has turned into what he believes is the finest wedge ever created. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Terry Koehler goes Off Course.

Episode 130 is here and Dan and Terry Koehler discuss the following topics.

Function and Evolution of the Koehler Sole
How to Choose Your Wedge Lofts
Horizontal vs Vertical Misses on Wedges
WedgeFit
The Importance of Shafts
And so much more

You can listen to the show right here, Apple Podcasts or of anywhere you do your listening and downloading from. Oh hell yes Dan! Cannot wait to dig into this!

I’ll be listening soon. I’m TK’s newest biggest fan.

I purchase 2 edison wedges back in june. 51 and 55. Replacing 50/54. I absolutely love them. So easy to hit and control. I have normally only played 2 wedges but may increase my edison profile over the winter. Went to myrtle to play with friends and they were amazed at my shots from 100 in. Would absolutely recommend. I spoke on the phone to a person there and we talked for an hour about my game and swing to make sure i was getting everything right. Fantastic!

Fascinating story especially when he got to the Tiger Woods thoughts.

Ok. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to capture all the various thoughts I had during this podcast. First of all, I hope everybody that can gives this a listen, because there are dozens of incredible nuggets of information from Terry. Some of that is because he is so outspoken about golf club design of course. Really though, his thoughts should make just about everybody here at least think a little bit more about their wedge set up.

One thing Terry doesn’t mention that I think is really important is that he’s been able to change the launch characteristics and forgiveness of his wedges without changing their size or how they look at address. Yes, there is a cavity on the back and it’s not the most attractive thing in the world, but at address there really is nothing I can point to that makes his wedge look unlike any other wedge on the market, save for the small design differences all companies incorporate.

I’ve had wedges in the bag from almost every company, including the small ones, and I have no reservations saying I’m a believer and what Terry is doing here. So many of the comments he made rang true to my experiences, testing them over the last five weeks.

Been pretty intrigued by these wedges definitely going to give this a listen

Terry made a comment that I think explains the likely reason you never got along with your set GW @jdtox

YES! that was fantastic

It makes so much sense. First thing I thought of was you sending up short balls into the stratosphere.

TK "Tiger was 11 when I designed it"
Tiger Fanboy "and?"

Before recording with Terry I did their "WedgeFit" which is pretty easy.

Since then I've been getting great little nuggets of info in my email from their "wedge-ology 101" series which has been fun to read. Might be worth anyone running through it.

Im sure Terry takes a lot of flak from the golf forum community in general. He’s so outspoken and holds beliefs that are the polar opposite of many commonly held “absolutes”.

On the subject if internet mythology, I was listening to another podcast a few months back that discussed the Edison wedge. The person, a well known person who hadn’t actually hit the wedges at all, stated they were going to be great for full swings, but not very versatile for other wedge shots. Face palm.

So much of what Terry said resonated with me and just made sense. I have a feeling I’ll be checking out the wedgefit and replacing my set gw very soon

I know all podcasts can be different, but I simply can't imagine bringing someone like Terry onto my show and expressing opinions like that, ESP if I'd not hit them.

Seems ridiculous. I'd rather let the 40 years of experience do the talking, personally.

I just listened to this while at work. that was a mistake! so much great knowledge dropped that it requires a second or third dedicated listen.

He really did go rapid fire for a while there eh?

It was a lot of fun. Terry is a great experience.

Terry is one of a kind. I knew he was about to get rolling, and boy did he. Excellent show, this combined with the forum testing, and my history with that sole of his, make me want to hit these

I was thinking that too. Some of my favorite 'exciting thoughts' memories of wedges stem from hitting SCOR and BH wedges.

Surely these are much the same.

I would love to get him, Vokey and Cleveland in a room and wedge debate!

I think the discussion surrounding bounce/grind would be absolutely wild.

Take the thinking out of it and just hit the golf ball. Words I definitely want to live by.
