These are the kinds of rules that I hate about golf. Really? I think its just dumb.
yeah...you ought to be able to put the ball where ever you want on the green..... when replacing it on the green you should be able to just drop it in the cup. Works for me
.......I don't have any trouble with adapting your techniqueYeah thats what I do. Whats wrong with that? You should try it too, dont worry I wont DQ you.

How many people thought they meant marking it like with a sharpie? Honest question!

I did when I read the tweet this morning. Then, read another tweet that he moved ball closer to hole five times. Not sure what advantage you get from moving the ball closer to hole on green. I doubt he moved it 10", or even 3".
The whole point of marking your ball before lifting it is so that you can replace it as closely as is humanly possible to the same spot. By moving it to side and forward he could have been taking some irregularity in the green out of his line of putt. The fact that he was told several times that he was in the wrong and just ignored the warnings is sufficient evidence to me that he was doing it intentionally. I don't think that this guy is the sharpest tack in the box.
Totally agree if he was doing it he should be punished; it's cheating. What I don't get it why do it? You know you won't get away with it and the article suggested he was gaining a centimeter at most. This seems like a prepostorous risk for a pro to take. He thinks he can make it from 15'5" but not 15'4.75"????? That's nuts!
Fourputt, where did you see he was repeatedly warned? I couldn't find anything to that affect and was wondering why his playing partners didn't just call him out as others have suggested.

Whaaat? I get being banned for altering a scorecard, but 20 years for replacing a ball incorrectly?!?!
