For Hybrid Players - 5 Iron or 5 Hybrid?

HMMM 5i for me...
As some have said already with more traditional lofts a 5h replaces the 4i not the 5i but to throw another wrench in this bag what about 5u?
I currently use a 5U for my 5i as it help elevate the ball just that much more. I tried a true hybrid replacement for the 5i and its hard to keep shots low when getting out of trouble.

I go back and forth between my 9w & 5h for that bag spot but the 9w is just such a performer.

I think they're actually easier for punch outs. It's almost impossible to fat them, and the face is hotter so you need less of a swing. They're also a great club for bump and runs around the green - you just need to practice it to get the feel because it comes off a lot hotter than a putter.
a 5 hybrid with power core sounds like it might need to happen.

Give me the 5Hybrid. Much better consistency with it and I hit it the same distance but higher which holds the greens better.

Only hybrid in my bag is TSR2 4 hybrid. I honestly see why we should probably add in another. I am happy with my long irons currently however. Even into the 4 spot as a tee ball option.

5i for me. I've carried a 3h quite a bit and may experiment with something other than 4i this year but 5i won't be leaving the bag anytime soon. It's not a club I hardly ever need to use but I find the 5i to be more versatile in that range of the bag.

I have a 5i but I need a 5 or 6 hybrid in that spot. I would rather hit 4H or 6i if I need that 5i distance. It is a weak spot in my bag, for certain

5 iron is the first iron I carry, but am heavily considering putting a 5h in that spot.

I rarely hit the 5i unless off a tee, and may use it more off fairway as a hybrid. Would I use hybrid more off the tee? Not sure.

I have a 5 iron and use it...separately I have a 4 hybrid and a six hybrid that I rotate between depending on the course...

If you don't play hybrids or like hybrids, no reason to let us know in this thread :ROFLMAO:

For those that do, or carry at least one, in your 5 spot. Are you iron or hybrid and why?
5 iron for me (3 and 4 are hybrids). Honestly, it’s that way because I just defaulted to it when ordering my clubs. I’m not great hitting my 5 iron off the turf and perhaps could benefit from a 5 hybrid, but I do it it well off a tee…

I carry both fives. I am not by any means iron Byron but when I added the 5H it replaced my 4 iron, which probably says I wasn't generating the right swing to properly launch a 4 iron.

For a time I was carrying 5I, 5H, 5W and nothing in between now that I think about it.

Are they easy enough to use for punch outs?

On the fence about moving to a 5 hy but I need a punch club for my course badly
Yes. Easy enough. My 6h is my favorite club to punch with.

5i for me. I liked the idea of a 5h. But was told the ball flight wasn't consistent with rest of the set. I was launching it much higher. So I went 5i

5h here
6h and sometimes 7h as well.
I’m not proud….

Right now it’s 5 iron- but it’s one of my least hit clubs in the bag so… likely to be replaced soon.

It took until last year for me to ever even have had a hybrid in the bag. I replaced a 4i that I used as more of a driving iron but was crap everywhere else. The switch there made sense to use off the tee and any crappy lie on a longer par 5.

I've been considering the 5h and taking out the 5i, but man, I've hit some fantastic shots with my 5i in the last year. I also don't use it enough that I feel like a 5h would benefit me a whole lot more.

So for now it's 5i instead of 5h, but my success with the 4h I put in the bag last year has had me wondering
I love a mid iron but I'm not sure the 5H doesn't make full sense for me. Its really "easy" even compared to some great, forgiving irons.

Last year I moved to the 5 hybrid. It was much more easy for me to get in the air and much more forgiving for my swing. I also felt like I could put an easier swing on the hybrid and still get the distance I wanted.

5 Hybrid, I tried and tried and tried to keep a 5 Iron, but the 5 Hybrid is just too dang versatile.

Last fitting I changed things up. My ZX5 MKII 5 iron was pulled in favor of a GT2 24* "5H" lofted up 2* for gapping with my 6I. Worked perfectly with a 13 yard gap from the 6 playing a spinney fast stopping baby fade. I can crunch it if needed, playing a little rope hook out from under trees or whatever. I prefer the ease and control of working the ball without over doing it the hybrid offers. Usually with a 5 iron or longer my draws are all too willing to become hooks...
And the hybrid is much better for me out of fairway bunkers and rough.
I have yet to take the time to get the hybrid setting dialed in with the T250 irons I recently acquired. I will most likely be just a degree change, if any.

5H…more consistent for me plus more versatile. Can hit harder, easier and the descent is better for me into firm greens plus it is amazing out of the rough if you need it or for example need distance on a par 5 second shot from rough bad lie versus an iron. May add a 6H to fill in a gap in my current yardages.

5H and 6H for me. I'm not going to keep betting my self up over inconsistency with the 5I and 6I.

5h - Exotics Xrail. Longest tenured club in my bag. Given my swing speed I don't create enough speed to launch a 5i. Matter of fact even game a 6h now. I could play a 6i but a hybrid is much more confident for me.

It has been added.
Cobra OPTM 5 Hybrid.

I’ve moved back to hybrid there.

9W replaces 4i and TEC hybrid replaces 5i, but it hit the gap I had to turn the 25* to 27*

I have one of those supposed to be delivered tomorrow. A 7W too. I've worked the 5 iron in the bag the last couple of seasons and I've guilted @JDax to doing the same. But I'm going to try something different at the early part of this season.
