FSX Net Play - Foresight

Grab any of the 3.0 courses. They’re all getting redone but the graphics in 3.0 are better.

Here’s the 2020 updates:

Beat me to it! Thanks for posting

Thanks for posting that. I made sure to include those (not CrossWater since it wasn't on the list for some reason) to include some classic US courses and some UK courses.

I'm waiting on a quote right now so hopeful for maybe a round by Wednesday/Thursday.

Well, lets see how long this takes to get all set up and running.

Over/under 3.5 days. I'll take the over, but just barely.

This will be the following:
Cleaning portions of the garage
Moving a table or stand into the garage
Updates to computer
Download all software
Activation of all software
Troubleshooting of all software

Yeah 3.5 days looks like a good call.

Just beware boys. FSX is amazing however the netplay has been known to be extremely glitchy. The software is not known for its online play but hopefully Foresight is smartening up and realizing that they’re behind in this area. The software also does some weird stuff once and a while. Matchplay didn’t work on 2018. Hopefully 2020 will be improved. One thing I don’t like is that you can’t set different tee boxes for each player. There’s no way I can hit the ball like Jman or Molten. Oh well. Still fun to play.

Using the discord foresight channel works well for chat.

They’re getting E6 integration if you have FSX but there’s conflicting reports on the price. I hear it might be a $2500 base and then annual fee after that. If that’s the case I’m out. If there’s only a annual fee ($300 is what I’m hearing) E6 is way better for gameplay and graphics. FSX would be strictly for improvement then. But after shelling out a crapload on FSX I’m not spending a lot on E6.

Listen to this man.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense considering that FSX doesn't seem to have the same following for online tours that a lot of other software does.

I'm sure I'll enjoy the home play (improvement aspect). I'm not expecting online play to be the main draw for me even if hearing about this feature finally pushed me to actually get the software instead of staring at numbers.

My main concern right now is getting the computer back up and running. It should have enough horsepower to run the software, but its been dormant for about 2 years.

Honestly if we get a good core of 6-10 guys to play I’m good with that. Part of the problem with gameplay is I get away from improving and working on my swing. I bought the gc2 to improve but gameplay is so much fun that it’s easy to get away from the improve aspect. Still some really cheap options out there for that.
Calling Molten, you or a few other THP folks up and getting in a round is going to be great. Molten and I were paired up at the original staffproto.

You have the HMT?

No. I was thinking about it but it’s $ 7000 CAD. I might add on next year but I find I really don’t need it yet. I’m going through a swing overhaul and not really focused on club data. Besides I know from the hit where I nailed it on the clubface. I’d just use the HMT to tweak my angles, shafts, etc...

I would love to add an HMT to the GC2 I use now that I have an indoor setup

Same here. I think you’d get much more of the fitting aspect use out of it. I’m not sure I can justify that dollar amount for what I’d use it for. I’ll just borrow yours.

HMT will probably be my last upgrade to the system.

GC2 > Hitting Cage w/ Mat > Software w/ Computer > Projector > HMT

Like I'm not sure how much I can get out of it not being fitter or teaching pro. I mean it's nice to always have access to my numbers, but it's quite an expense for the novelty.

Haha, you're welcome anytime. Beer will be cold.

Garage was cleaned. Definitely not enough room for driver and 3 wood is a little scary. Irons are very playable.

Still waiting for the software, but computer seems to be up and running.

For those looking at a home setup realize it takes a surprising amount of room and even then you may feel a little constricted.
