Gambling Golf Games!

Seems really cool and I love all the ways to “score” but so much to keep track of! I’’d need a laptop and spreadsheet on the course...or...I’d have to retain McLovin as my CPA to keep track of the bets all day!

This has been my thinking about golf betting games. Man - I already have too much to keep track of lol!

mikeg_74 I really like that 3-5-7 game. Seems like fun and relatively easy to track.
jdtox love the putt for dough game. Doesn't matter handicap or skill level, every person has one big time put to hole.

chefkritter I'll keep the score, but i need you to tell me who got what each hole. That game seems so fun and I want to play, but just blows my mind how you remember all that junk!

Who else has some good games? I'll definitely be looking to implement some of these into my rounds.

Keep em coming!

Those two I think even I could keep up with!;)

Man, some of the games sound like fun but there are too many numbers and too much stuff to remember. Besides, I don't gamble when I play. My fear is I wouldn't carry enough cash to cover my losses. And I know my game would not win any $$ at all.

Great thread, never realized how many different gambling games there are for golfing to loose money. But truthfully at my age. with my golf swing it enough of a gamble for me.

Dang I never really play for much when we are outside so I don't have anything that others haven't already said but we play poker for our winter sim league. Everyone buys in at the beginning of a our 9 hole rounds (we have like 8 of us there at a time so the amounts of money is whatever people are feeling that night).

Anyway, best five card hand at the end of the 9 holes wins that hand. You get one card for a FIR, one for a GIR, one for a par and one for a actual made putt since putting is so unreliable on a sim. Two cards for a birdie and three for and eagle. You can either play with your hands up so people can see what everyone is going for and what others have if you're looking for a specific card or hands down so it's more random. Every card that you earn after five either replaces a card in your hand or goes to the discard pile.

Once all the cards are used, return the cards from the discard pile in to the pot and play until the 9 holes are over. Best hand wins. Rinse and repeat for the next nine holes and every week of league :D

My group plays Bisque most of the time. Every player gets full handicap. Each player can use their strokes on any hole they choose they just have to announce to the group that they are using a stroke or 2. Yes, you can use 2 strokes a hole and we play carryovers. Hard to strategize especially if you have to give 10 strokes. A 10 handicap will get 10 strokes to use and a 20 would get 20 strokes. The higher handicappers usually have the ability to use 2 strokes on more holes which can potentially be an advantage if they play the hole well.

Umbriago is our game of choice. It is a partners game with 6 points available per hole. You get 1 point for birdie/eagle, 1 point for closest to pin, 2 point for low ball, 2 point for high ball. The points per hole are then multiplied by the hole number. If a team gets all 6 points (an umbi) the points double to 12 x the hole on the back. An umbi on the front 9 equals 100 points regardless of the hole number. We usually play for a dime a point.

Some examples on the 4th hole if team A has a birdie, a par and closest to the pin and team B has 2 pars. Team A would get 16 points - 1 point for the birdie, 1 point for closet to pin, 2 points for low ball X 4th hole. The high ball cancels out since both teams high score was par. On if Team B has a birdie, a par and closest to the pin and Team A has a par and a bogey. Team B would get 216 points - 1 point birdie, 1 point closest to pin, 2 points low ball and 2 points high ball (Team A's bogey gives Team B the high ball points). The umbi (all 6 points) doubles to 12 x 18th hole for 216.

Minus the hole number multiplier we used to play a similar game. Two man teams in a foursome. Points were scored for low ball, low total, closest to the pin and birdie. It was agreed upon beforehand the point value for each, 1 or 2 points. To keep the example simple let's say each was 1 point. If a team won all four points on a hole it was called an umbrella and the point values for that hole doubled (so they won 8 pints - 2 for each), and the point values remained at that level going forward. All a team had to be down was 1 point to press and some guys had the word "press" on their lips before their golf shoes were tied! LOL Even starting at $.10/point the game could get very expensive (though $.25 was very common) with it not unusual for the last few holes playing for over $2-300 each. We were all single digit handicaps and things usually evened out over time.

The group I used to play with a few years ago were all retired guys of varying handicaps and abilities and playing for very modest levels. We either played Wolf (best with 5 of us) or a round robin where we switched partners every six holes.

I never want to gamble on golf because I’m always the worst player. I’ll go along with what the group wants to do, though. I’ve never understood a single game we’ve played, and I just trust somebody else to keep up with it accurately. Sometimes I win a few bucks and sometimes I lose a bit. It’s always pretty low stakes, so I don’t mind whatever happens.

Your game sounds fun as well. We played anywhere between $.10 and $.25 a point. As you said even at a dime a point it could get expensive. Everyone that plays in the game is a scratch or better and in long run we probably just pass the money around.

There is another group I play with occasionally. That group elects a president every year. The Pres sets the games each weekend and teams are drawn out of a hat. They also publish a money list. Some good fun is had at the expense of the guys on the bottom of the list.

BINGO BANGO BONGO

I think this is the best gambling game out there. Basically it has three points a hole. First On (the green) gets a point, after everybody is on then it goes to Closest to the Hole for another point, then First In is another point.

You have to hit/putt in turn. I play .25 cents a hole. This game makes all players of every skill level on equal terms. A player that has a really bad day, might lose $4.

I'm betting on this guy:drinks:

Match play with HCs for a pint. Keep it friendly. If it's a foursome - teams and best net on the hole.

I like this idea. Seems pretty simple

Honestly, the most complex I’ve ever played is match play with a fiver a side and fiver for total score at the end. My little brain is incapable of concentrating on golf as well as trying to do maths.

person with the lowest score gets to choose a hat at the proshop. the other players pay for the hat and then signs it.

I love making value bet cause of it frequent wins and larger profits! Me and my group also bet on other soccer game together so we can laugh each other when some of us loss the game :pNormally we won't invest extra even if we win the previous game so it doesnt affect much on us !

I've always enjoyed a game of Wolf with my friends.

This and Wolf are the simplest games! best for guys trip.

I played Snake recently. It was fun.

In college we played bingo/bango/bongo. I like playing this.

When I am playing with my Dad we play skins which is fun.

We have a weekly wolf game, has actually grown to 20-25 guys. So 4-5 groups usually. We play skins as well. Only twist we have is whoever is down the most on hole 16 can change the bet to anything up to what they’re down. We do carry overs and also usually have group vs group bets as well.

Sometimes golf is just more fun when you are playing for something and get out of your comfort zone to really test yourself.
Yeah, you're right! Golf can be sometimes boring, but gambling can make the game interesting again. I am a big fan of gambling in general, when I have some free time I'm always playing some games of chance, it adds some adrenaline to the process, and it's much more pleasant this way. Besides playing golf, my favorite entertainment is playing in a btc casino. It's twice more interesting than regular gambling, because bitcoin's price is always changing, and you never know how much you have earned.

I've got to try and decide what games to play for my Bachelor Party trip next week. We will be playing 3 maybe 4 rounds and I'm sure will do Skins, CTP's, and Sandies but I was also wanting to do some sort of a team deal. Most of us are in the 6-13 index range with one outlier who's a +2.7 and that's about as bad as it's been in years. May just have to do different teams for each round and make sure each person is on his for one round. I can't remember if I read it on this thread or one of the others but there was a game where you use the best 2 scores of the 4 players for par 3's, best 3 for the par 4's, and all of them for the par 5's. That could maybe make it interesting.
