"I never go to dinner with a bad putter"- Gary Player

This begs the question, does the play of your group affect your play?

this explains why I eat alone?

I was just thinking I have never taken a putter to dinner. I'll have to talk to my 2 ball this evening and see what it's up to tonight.

Keeps the cost of the dinner tab down. Putters don't eat much.

I never go to dinner with a strange putter, the silence would be deafening.

I think it can. I seem to play a bit more seriously when I'm with a better player. Goes for any competition, I'd say. The old phrase "Playing down/up to their competition." had to start for some reason.

It can, especially if they are having a miserable day. I struggle to stay positive some times so i don't need to be surrounded by negative Nancys.

I've had playing with better golfers work both ways for me. If it's guys I know, it usually makes me up my game a little bit - but if it's strangers, it can sometimes make me nut up and not play as well.

I would take my putter out for steak and lobster at this point...
