Availability appears to be location specific. Tempe, AZ is the one that I looked at with little availability but Chandler, AZ where I booked my evaluation has lots of availability when browsing through times.

@FlipFlop you are killing it in this thread!
I’m glad Chandler is more open for you.

Last night I was practicing and trying to work on the move at the top of my backswing that’s killing me. In this video from a previous session, you can see at the top of the backswing, I don’t stop the hands. I tend to keep them moving and bend my shoulders forward. This causes my over the top move and my inconsistency problem.

We’ve tried a couple drills and it’s helped lower it, but not stopped it. So I’m practicing and my coach is watching. He says “if you have time, my next lesson cancelled and I see something that might work.” I jumped at the chance for an impromptu lesson. Anything to help get this annoying move gone!

What he realized watching me is that the thing causing my hands to go up is my shoulder stopping. It would get to the end of my turn and I was “creating more depth” my bending my shoulders back to front and raising the hands up. I need to figure out how to get that depth with a turn, not lift and bend!

He decided to tackle this by looking at the hand path. We had previously worked on getting the hands moving up a little sooner so they wouldn’t feel the need to keep moving up at the top. Well that clearly wasn’t working because I was stopping that turn. We moved back away from that. We went to the opposite and really exaggerating the feel of the arms working around my body. Left arm driving the turn but staying down and pushing around like I was trying to grab the wall behind my back.

First drill: coach put an alignment stick on the ground and held the pool noodle. The goal was to trace the alignment stick on the takeaway and do not touch the noodle.

This took a few slow tries to get the feel right. It was definitely a different path. You can see just how “wrapped” around my body we were looking to get me feeling. He said “left arm across the chest is the visual goal.

Here’s the first go without the noodle at 50% speed. The “real” moved up a touch from the “feel” drill, but still good. Blue boxes are my target!

And with that new position at the top, look at where the hands got on the down swing! Over the top was gone!

Impact & follow through positions much better and more balanced

Putting it all together and taking the first swing at a ball, which is usually where my brain malfunctions and goes to the “smash ball” thought and over swing, you can see that it actually stuck! I got the good positions and made a good swing.

I was the last person in the studio so I hit a few more while coach added the notes to the app for me. 10 really good swings in a row later, and I left very encouraged with this breakthrough.
That is awesome to see.very cool your coach was able to spot something and get you a drill that resonates with you. Hope you are able to make it stick!!

It great to see progress especially when it's something minor and easy to ingrain.

Went for a practice session last night with the intention of getting in some swings and getting some ball data. It was amateur hour, almost like they were running a daycare. Parents bringing kids to a lesson and I'm talking like maybe 5-6 years old and being loud. The putting "green" is right outside several of the bays and its all I could hear. I don't mind kids, I have my own, though they are older but man It was annoying. With no doors on the bay rooms I could barely focus on what I was doing.

Going to chalk it up as a one off as its never happened before but really hoping this is not a thing.

I’m going to be playing in quite a few PGA section events this year.

Over the next few weeks, my coach and I will be looking at that schedule, and developing a strategy for our lessons, and playing in a more competitive environment. Super excited to crank this up a notch and really get into a grind with GolfTEC!

I got an email asking if I wanted move my evaluation. I was worried until I realized it was just moving it up an hour if I wanted, because someone cancelled. That is pretty cool service. I have never been there and it would have been easy just to let it roll instead of asking me my preference.

Pretty stoked about doing this tomorrow and hope me and the coach gel.

I feel like they’ve really put an emphasis on good customer service. At least that’s been the experience that I’ve had in my studio and in the two others that I stopped at on the way home from work to practice. It’s something that makes you feel better about the money you spent for sure.

Any of you renewing after this spicy email?

ugh, that had to be so frustrating. Like, what kind of person thinks that is OK? That's so crazy. Hopefully you don't encounter it again.

Dude, that's awesome! quite the commitment, I like it. Look forward to seeing how it all goes for you!!

I went to an evaluation today and was impressed. Liked my coach, and in the 10 minute lesson, I made progress. I had a number of good things with my iron swing and some bad. Except driver: it was all bad. Like quit golf, bad.

I signed up for the 5 lessons with practice. I would have never done it without this thread and the wrap up thread

Love hearing that you signed up. Knowing your game and ability, I think a 5 lesson package is going to be a great tuneup for you. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

I know that I need more than 5 lessons, but that was an easier pill to swallow on the family budget. My goals are humble and not score related: I just want to get better instead of keep getting worse.

You + me + GOLFTEC = 🏆 at the Sophia Cup!

Glad to hear it went well and you liked the coach. Look forward to seeing how your lessons go. I'm sure they'll get you moving the right direction!

When the noodle got out and he told me to miss it, I literally thought that it was impossible. Somehow, my brain figured it out. I did graze it, though 😂

I just was so tired of getting worse. I said it in a thread awhile ago: I don’t mind being a 12, I just don’t want be a 12 that loses to 16’s every round.

2025 was the year for taking care of family and work upheaval. This year, is about me and my wife and our hobbies of travel and golf.

Not sure why I was so intimidated to do this evaluation and lessons. But I am looking forward to it.

But the lesson in itself, was only 10 minutes. My hand path going back was so far off and causing issues. When it felt like I was starting way too inside to miss the noodle, it was perfect. When I thought I was doing other things wrong, I wasn’t.

Optimotion is the game changer. I am not sure if the evaluation gets loaded into the app, but I will share if/when it does.

That last part is something I think a lot of people feel. I was worried going into my evaluation as well. I think it was being afraid of being told I was a horrible golfer when I’ve been working to improve. The good thing is not once have I ever felt judged by a coach during lesson or practice and I’ve had some days where I look like it’s my first time swinging a club. They staff is awesome!

The short lessons are incredibly valuable in my opinion. I've been going for half hour sessions to either refine a 'teach' or get my next little bit of support to improve my game, and then I use all my extra time + practice to work on refining it.

Massive. Love that you're doing this my friend. Makes me quite happy.

Hand path was a big part of what I was told at my eval too. They put my stuff in the app and I can still get to it. I go back to the drills now and then which I find awesome to be able to do.

Quick question, with a very long setup:

I’m just coming back to golf after about five years off due to injuries. It was a pretty dark and depressing time. I couldn’t even watch golf without getting emotional.

I decided to come back once I realized I could hold a club again using larger Jumbomax grips. Because of the injuries, though, I’ve had to completely retool my swing this year. The focus has been getting into positions that avoid pain and relying much less on hand-eye coordination and more on grooving a repeatable, solid swing. I’ve only played five rounds since coming back, but I finally got back into the 70s in my last round.

I have a few GOLFTEC locations near me, and the closest one has a pretty solid instructor. I’m planning to do the $95 swing evaluation soon before it expires.

So, to the question. Since I’ve played with you in the past, respect your game, and know you liked finding your game in the dirt the way I did, do you think the tech they use is a good resource for getting my game from a 4 to scratch? I’ll be honest, I need another set of eyes beyond SportsBox AI. Specifically, someone who can help me get where I want to go faster, without trying to force me into a stock swing model that my injuries just won’t allow.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Learning what I do right was a huge benefit for improving my game. That I learned from my GolfTec lessons.

He did put my evaluation onto the app. I will say two things:
1) got home and realized that I had a family conflict for my scheduled lesson on Friday and it was easy to change it through the app without calling him and telling him why.
2) the difference between a bad swing and good swing can be finite. Literally, when I look at the video with a blind eye between before and after, they look almost the same without optimotion lines. The difference in ball flight was straighter and more distance in the after swing. I don’t hit it long, but I was hitting it much shorter in the before swing that looked similar.

I am going to share some photos from the app so that you know what kind of feedback that you get. This was only from the $95 evaluation. Even if you want to dig it out of the dirt on your own, the evaluation is still gold. These screenshots are from the app on my phone showing the different tabs from my 10 minute lesson. Of course, there is video on my app, but just wanted you to get the gist of it.
