Really enjoy seeing the progress in here. So very cool to see what everyone is working on and how good GolfTEC is with working with all types of skill levels. Really inspiring and fun to see.

Practice session was really good last night. Ran into my coach who was back and getting himself ready to return this weekend. He was watching the swing and said things look good. He asked what I want to move to next and I told him Putting! He was surprised I said that and not driver, but it was a happy surprise.

We talked a bit about my putting issues and he suggested we start with a fitting first. He said that doing a lesson in the wrong putter will take longer to put a bandaid over the problem. “Let’s make sure you’re in a putter that actually fits you, then see what your real problem is.” Makes sense to do it that way and ensure I’m not fighting the putter.
That is interesting he said fit first. I would have thought getting your putting stroke sorted first then fit would be the call. I look forward to seeing how this goes for you!!

If you find a putter that already works with your stroke then it could just be fine tuning vs complete overhaul. For example it would take a long time to fix my problems with a massive toe-hang putter vs little tweaks with a face-balanced one that works with the stroke I have.

Lesson and a bit of practice last night was both encouraging and challenging. I’ve been seeing some quick and (hopefully) sustainable fixes with my swing path, but face angle and low point have been more of a struggle. I think it’s easy for me to get lost in the data and try to fix everything all at once, which doesn’t go well. I brought this up to my coach and we had a good conversation about how offseason lessons are the time to really focus on the little things since I am not needing my game to be at peak performance. We went over some drills and hammered home the importance of giving the drills time to build proper habits and not rush to get to the full swing and the next fix. Gotta take it slow and trust that the seemingly slow process will pay dividends in the future.

I get that...... but what if your stroke changes so you need a different type of putter once things are fixed? It just seems more logical to fix the stroke first in my brain without thinking things through too much... i suppose that can depend greatly on what issues exist and whether much, if any changes to the stroke are needed. Just an interesting thing to me.

I was in the same thinking, but when he started explaining it made some sense to me. He asked if I thought I would be more confident and able to make a repetitive stroke if
  1. I knew in the back of my mind that the alignment fit in my eye and was helping me aim correctly.
  2. I knew the setup puts a good roll on the ball for me.
His thought is let’s get you in something that fits your stroke now and fine tune you to keep that stroke repeatable. Small adjustments for big changes.

That is pretty cool, both in approach and how he explained it to you. It makes sense for sure. I think in the back of my mind there is a fear that i am doing it totally wrong which influences my train of thought. Also gotta make you feel confident that you wont have to make huge changes to get better. Love that.

I really enjoy how the coach breaks down everything for me. I’m an Overthinker so it helps me to understand it. He talked about
communication being a big part of their training as they come onto the team at GOLFTEC.

Can definitely echo how good these coaches are at communicating what they want. If something doesn't resonate, they will have 3 more ways to explain it, show you, or put you in position to feel it.

They do such a great job listening and making sure you understand. They’re open to and encourage questions and I feel like I can ask them anything and not feel dumb. everything they do is very intentional. it’s such a great product that I firmly believe anyone would benefit from taking lessons from GOLFTEC

Has anyone tested GolfTEC's Opti AI? I was asked to try it during practice and provide feedback. It's cool, but I found it slow to process commands and not necessary. It's much easier to just navigate through the computer.

I haven’t had a chance yet but will be next week. It looks really cool and I’m looking forward to giving it a spin.

The coach analysis and drill sections after a lesson are great to look back on for your practice session.

I started playing about 3 years ago. Been with GolfTEC a little more than 1.5 years and my handicap dropped to 19-20. I think it could be even lower if I play smarter and less aggressive on the course. The challenging part with GolfTEC is the limited outdoor coaching, so learning to chip and hitting out of bunker is limited.

My form and ball striking improved enormously. It's definitely noticeable on the course. My dispersion is tighter, so the ball stays in play and I'm losing less balls. Most importantly, my misses are still moving the ball forward and in play!

We have been working on my swing path and early release. My swing path is too inside and I release the club too early. I tend to overdraw and launch high. I cannot hit a cut or fade with my irons.

Wanted to share a picture of how my swing has progressed with GolfTEC.

The first picture was from 1.5 years ago. The second is where my swings at now. I really appreciate what my coach has done.

Putter fitting time. Going to see where I stand with the Enzo 30, Jailbird S2S and anything coach throws at me.

I decided to mix it up a bit and meet with Mitch at the Cincinnati location to get another set of eyes on the driver swing.

When he came into the room, I said pretty bluntly that I am quite pleased with my iron swing (I had a 177 yard carry 8 iron on the screen at the time, tight little center draw lmao) and the real reason I am emotionally compromised is because of my wood swing, that goes down to my hybrid.

After watching my swing a handful of times and using the OptiMotion tool to showcases some of the angles, he decided we should focus purely on one element of my setup/move, which was the amount of knee bend I had at address, and allowing that flex to reduce by the top of the backswing, and then compress again on the way back through. Fortunately the "back through" part is a natural move for me, so it was really just getting the starting flex from 3 degrees to about 14 or so.

Genuinely speaking, it felt like some power came back immediately. Obviously lots of work needed, but I almost never felt 'lost' in my swing which has plagued me for months. Super weird, super satisfying.

We moved to the hybrid because I brought it in as well and while implementing the move, I was regularly and frankly, casually ripping 240+ yard carries with the OG super hybrid and the stock steelfiber shaft. It felt controlled and powerful as hell.

We're going to do 30 minute lessons and 30 minute practice sessions weekly or bi-weekly and his goal is to isolate certain things, refine them, and then move on when we're happy. The next big piece of the puzzle will be length of backswing, and I am SO ready to dial it back a bit.
Playing catch up. So happy for you cousin!

This is so huge. A great coach imo says what he’s trying to get across as many different ways in order for you to understand

thanks dude! I am genuinely eager to get back on Monday. Weird feeling for me.

If Monday goes well, I am going to make a pointlessly strong 2026 goal.

If Monday goes well, that goal will be laughed at.

Quick update on how the lessons are going for me. I had my swing evaluation on August 6 right before heading to the GOLFTEC experience. Since that time I’ve had five lessons.

The first four lessons focused on minor tweaks to my set up, take away, and turn. At no point did I feel like I was rebuilding my swing. As my coach put it, each minor tweak that we made would impact 2 to 3 things that followed it in the swing and make it easier for me to be more repeatable. We never focused on being in “the perfect position“ at any point in the lessons.

The fifth lesson focused on wedges. I talked to my coach after a round and told him that I was losing a lot of strokes and getting a lot of frustration with wedges. He felt like I was doing well enough with the practice and the progress in my iron swing so we went ahead and worked on the wedges.

I decided to take a look at my Shot Scope stats now that I’ve had a decent amount of rounds before and after lessons starting. I have 13 rounds since my first lesson and 12 rounds tracked before it. Honestly, I’m kind of shocked that the results. I knew that I was playing better, but I didn’t expect to see such a change.

Putter Fitting Recap: yes this is a putter fitting and not a lesson, but stay tuned or skip to the very end and you’ll see why it fits.

So I’ve never done a fitting at GOLFTEC and wasn’t really sure what to expect. I have to say it was a very different experience doing a fitting with my coach versus some random sales person/fitter at a big box store.

There was never really a point where I felt like he was trying to guide me into anything. It felt very genuine that he wanted me to find something that would make my game better. This is a really good feeling and allowed me to just be as comfortable as possible.

We started off by rolling my current gamer, the Cobra Enzo 30. We used blast motion to see how I was delivering the club. To no surprise, I missed several to the right, which is my normal miss. Turns out it’s due to the club face being delivered 3.6° open. Not so good.

We switched over to the Odyssey Jailbird S2S. That was better at 1.4° open. It also helps that this is 34” and my fit on length is 33.75”. It’s also my perfect lie angle of 72. Early leader in the clubhouse.

We did some more testing to see what alignment aids help me with my aim. And grabbed four new putters to test. After go through several tests of putts and aiming, we had 3 options including my Jailbird. We moved on to 30 footers and narrowed it down to our top two options. We finished up at 8 foot putts.

When all was said and done, we had a clear winner, and it was my Jailbird S2S. This whole process took about 40 minutes. This is where the fitting really took a turn from anything else I’ve experienced in a fitting.

My coach said, “let’s try something a little bit different in your set up that might even help the numbers get better.” We went into a lesson here. He had been taking video without telling me and pointed out that on short putts where I really struggle directionally, I was trying to tuck my elbows in and hold them close to my body. On my 30 foot lag putts, my elbows were a little flared out, and I had a much smoother stroke. I’ve always been better at longer putts and this is why.

We made an adjustment to my elbows and very small grip adjustment. Boom! Instantly better putts from 8-10 feet. We even put the blast motion back on and my first two putts went to 0.2 and 0.6° open. Crazy big difference!

This fitting was just another example of the customer service you get from GOLFTEC. You really do feel like they are invested in your improvement. Zero pressure to purchase something that I didn’t really need. What I have already works. I just needed a minor tweak just like the rest of my game. It’s so refreshing feeling like you’re not going to be hard sold on anything.
