We are now at hole 2 and the first par 5 on the course. What a fantastic looking hole!! The green grass framed by the prairie lands just off the hole create an amazing contrast. You will enjoy this hole. Unless you get wide or the wind blows you to OZ.

While this hole is not overly long for a par 5 the prevailing wind will be blowing straight across the fairway. The landing zone does provide some width for a little forgiveness of the tee. ButQ don't let the trick you into thinking it is an easy tee shot or hole. The wind can be fierce and a weak drive can get eatin up by the wind. If you get out to the prairie grass you will be crying for Aunty Em before the hole is over, clicking you heels and saying "there is no place like home"..

If you get your ball in the fairway off the tee. The goal then is to play mostly up the left and avoid the bunkering that runs up the right side to the green. There are contouring on the left side of the fairway that can help feed your ball towards the green. Or if you are feeling brave and want to go for this narrow but wide green. I would suggest to err on the side of going long. There is a back stop that can help get your ball back down to the green.

The green has a lot of contour to it. Especially on the front right of the green. So this is no easy two putt or up and down. Good luck to anyone that hits their approach short in the bunker.. You will have to have a very strong bunker game to get out and up and down from there.

This is a potentially scoreable hole. That could also cause a complete melt down if you get off course. Even though it is not overly long, intention and a thought out plan for this hole will help you be successful. This is not a hole to get greedy on thinking it is a pushover par 5.

Playing this course is going to require some creativity and imagination to be successful. This is not your typical parkland target golf course. Look ahead and see where the contours are and use them to you advantage. Don't make them your enemy.

Gosh this hole is gorgeous (me, 16 more times as you continue to produce the threads)

It looks like the back part of the green can be a good backstop for aggressive shots into that green but the undulations and contours seem like being on the wrong side of the green would be more penal. The wind will dictate a lot as it doesn't look like there is much protection from it out there. :ROFLMAO:

If you get lucky with a light or no wind day. This hole could be so much fun. If the wind is whipping, I think it can still be super fun you just have to play way more conservative.

The prevailing wind here blows right to left which can make the elevated tee shot a lot more exciting that you would like. The fairway bunkers in the landing area are not optimal but you should be able to advance the ball.

The backstop on the green is really big. Until you get there the pictures don’t really do it justice, the green is really big. If you get the ball high enough it will come back down onto the green.

The wind can create some havoc off the tee here, and you do not want to be in one of those bunkers or you are most likely losing the hole. The biggest thing here to me is keeping it in play off the tee and manages your miss on the approach. If you are a fader, and by that I mean slicer of the golf ball, this hole is going to eat your lunch, I promise.

Faders on this tee..

I have played in Scotland, Ireland, Bandon, and Nebraska. I love the imagination you have to have to play well in wind. I also love the frustration that comes out of people when they see their ball balloon up in the air. I was there for a long time. :ROFLMAO:

I love links golf for that reason. You cant just hit stock shots. You have to hit all the shots.

The scariest part of this entire hole for me is that dip in the middle of the green. If you're not in the right spot once you get on, that seems like it could demolish you

I'm typically left on approach shots, so that could be a good thing on this hole. Use that slope to my advantage and have it feed down to the green.

Feels like I may be playing some "unconventional" golf on some of the holes once I get close - lots of putts from off the greens or bump & runs with hybrids.

Absolutely get that ball rolling asap around the greens.

I know you keep mentioning being able to get off the tee here. Just curious if it's more about distance or accuracy?

I tend to be a use the putter as soon as you can kind of guy... seems like that is appropriate here.

I don’t remember a ton about this hole other than the wind. Everyone I played with seemed to end up on the right side, myself included, but it’s an absolutely horrendous angle to go for the green in 2. If you’re a longer hitter, there’s a little more room to the right that you might think. If you’re not on the left side of the fairway you’re not going for it in 2

It’s definitely not about distance as you get roll and a lot of holes play shorter. There are definitely some big boy holes though.

It is more about accuracy but you can still score will if you don’t have your best. You just have to play smart and know when/where to take your medicine.

Id say it’s about discipline more than anything else.

Appreciate your thoughts my friend 👊 . I'm probably in trouble any which way :ROFLMAO:.

Don't be saying that on the hole 2 breakdown lol

I like the way this hole lays out for me as well @Mikey D. Play off to the left which is where many of my misses occur then the terrain will help to get those shots back toward the center.
I say that now but when I stand on that tee box inevitably the gigantic block right will rear it’s ugly head and then plans are gone and I am just trying to survive.

At least he gave it a 1ish hole cushion rather than saying that even before stepping on opening hole tee 🤣

I'll get my driver fade / slice figured out before August.
Or I could pull a @Canadan and go 5w / 4i off the tee. 😄

honestly.. Taking trouble out of play and planning for a 3 shot hole is not a bad play.. 5 iron, 5 iron and a little wedge in may seem cowardly but if you win the hole so what.

We will NEVER have a THP Experience where someone has to be long.

When you hit your 4 iron 260 off the tee, it will be similar haha.

Really good players can do that, the issue is, most golfers don't get a ton better closer to the hole, they just don't realize it because the misses are smaller.
