Reaching hole #3 you are going to have to make some choices. This is not an overly long hole but there is trouble everywhere and make the wrong choices as you proceed can cause disaster to happen. 3 holes in and you are hitting the 5th hardest handicap hole. Just a quick glance and you can see why.

The layout of the hole is a dog leg left over some waste area. The fairway while not split, effectively is broken into two parts off the tee. You can either lay back of the diagonal right side bunker to a wide section of the fairway. Or, choose more club and work to carry to the second section.

The way the hole angles from right to left is going to make the hole feel more narrow than it is. Plus depending on the wind which will most likely be into and across from the left it can make the hole play much longer than the posted yardage.

Whatever you choose to do off the tee. Make sure you stay out of the cross bunker. That will pretty much insure a lose of the hole.

From the fairway the hole moves further left and back up hill again (I think walking this course would be torture) to a green that is not kind. it is fairly well guarded with bunkers short and long. So picking the right club most likely back into the wind will be a challenge. You for sure do not want to be in the bunker long right.. If the pin is over there, BEWARE!!

Once you reach the green you will find a very undulated and contoured green. So reaching in regulation is no gaurantee of a good score. There will be 3 putts on this green. It is just a question of how many. (@jdtox possible prop bet).

So, try to get your ball on the right section of this green that moves and rolls all over. I am excited to hear peoples experience on this green.

Good thing there is a halfway house right after this hole.. I think just 3 holes in, there are going to be THP'rs needing a drink and something to calm the nerves. This is a fantastic and fun hole. Your choice and execution off the tee is going to set you up for success. It will just take some solid touch on the green to close the deal.

I can wait to hear what those that have played this hole think. We are 3 holes in to a masterpiece of a golf course and barely getting started!!

Hole 3 I think most of us were aiming at the halfway house and blasting away with driver. I think the wind in general is hurting a touch off the tee. Hitting driver in the fairway you have a short iron or wedge in. This is a hole where the tee shot looks more difficult than it is. Once you get down to the fairway you see a lot of grass you don’t see from the tee.

This is the first really severe green. The green is much smaller and more undulating than the first 2 holes. This is a hole where being in the wrong area of the green will leave you with a really tough 2 putt.

This is what I needed to hear lol

There are going to be a lot of people that plan on going right over the bunker, and a lot of people that end up in the thick stuff or bunker.
This is a fantastic golf hole and coming into a stretch that are my favorite ever.

Tee visual pic is terrifying.

The more I look at it the more I love it and the scarier it looks. I don't have holes like that around me.

BRING IT ON!!!!

This is the first hole I'm indecisive on what to do off the tee. I think I'm going to play it one way, look at the photos again and change me mind, then go back and forth multiple times.

Might need to visit the halfway house after this one.

That one looking back from the green is pretty incredible though. It’s pretty wild how undulating this course is.

I will take my chances.

This hole looks brutal, but a fun challenge. Have to be on it from start to finish with a tough tee shot, well guarded green and tough green. That ridge that runs almost the entire length of the green could definitely create issues.

For sure... place is unreal.

@Bus admittedly my US geography is as allegedly bad as your Canadian geography is, because not in a million years would I have guessed these photos would be from the US Midwest. It’s gorgeous.

Would seem like the only thing missing is water and a birdie on this one. If you get par I think you could call that a win.

You missed the water hazards at Graybull by about 65 million years.

Yes walking away from this hole with a par is a great outcome.

I can’t be the only one wondering when we get to an easy hole can I? That tee shot view looks terrifying.

5 is a drivable par 4

I really like the looks of this hole!

Don’t really remember this hole being too difficult. If anything it’s a wood off the tee or even a long iron. Not really a hole to get overly aggressive on your approach unless you have a great angle in. This is another one where you can probably miss way left or right and still find your ball. I think @TRyan and I were both in the right fescue but didn’t have any issues getting the ball up

I love these type of golf holes. The dog leg left with the risk reward going over garbage is just a fun experience for me. The trouble that you have to get over is not ideal. The 2 fairway bunkers are not ideal but if you get through all of that you feel pretty dang good with your driver. That green tho. Yeesh that is brutal.

Love that right side fairway extension over the bunker. Hole looks narrow off the tee with the sandy pinch point, but could be fairly friendly.

What a gorgeous hole. Cannot wait to get out here

It is crazy to say, I think this is an average hole for this course. Some are just.... wow..
