GrayBull to this point as played fairly difficult but hole 5 is a very fun chance to potentially get a shot back. This short par 4 offers you a chance to play aggressive and go for the green.

The hole plays much shorter than the posted yardage and there is a very real chance for many to cut the corner over a large bunker.

While playing safely out to the left fat part of the fairway is totally an option. Especially if your opponent goes for it and executes poorly. Hole 5 is begging you to step up and go for it. The 215 carry number below is from the back tee so will play much shorter from the THP tees. Who will be brave enough to step up and hit a shot here? For those going for it. The bunker in front of the green and long through the fairway need to be considered as those can take your chances for a good score way down quickly.

By GrayBull standards the green is relatively tame. There is some slight undulation to keep it interesting but nothing too drastic. There is also not much in the way of trouble around the green again encouraging aggressive play.

Hole 5 is a great match play hole. It is a chance for someone to get aggressive and get a stroke back after potentially giving up a point or two earlier with a blow up hole. Or Watch your opponent botch it with a bad decision or execution and steal one back with smart precise conservative play. If it's me.. I am going for the green everytime!!

Welcome to the first drivable par 4. On the tee I struggled to be aimed far enough to the right and was in the area to the left of the green. Having to pitch it over the bunker was not ideal.

In alternate shot @Koske was in through the green with a 3 wood.

In this video at the 5 minute mark the course designer says there is a line over the bunker where you only need a 245 carry over the bunker to get to the green. I would love to see if I can get there with a 5 wood.

Aim at the green and probably end up in one of those bunkers.

Swing hard and hope for me.

I'm definitely going over the corner of the bunker. Looks like there is a lot of room behind the green to the right? Kind of looks like the green was supposed to be put further back but then decided against it for some reason.

So is it a 245 carry? OP had it as a 215 carry from the back tees?

If you go over the 215 spot you are not hitting the green. The fairway slopes left off of the bunker.

That is the path to the next hole

Absolutely going for it

It doesn’t really take much to reach this hole at all. Wind should be with you and many THPers probably could get there with a wood. You just want to make sure you’re hitting a club that would land 5-10 yards short of the green. Flying the green isn’t great but being too short pretty much guarantees you’re losing the hole. Left bunker isn’t great but also not impossible if you get a good lie. This is the perfect hole to be aggressive on!

In our Shamble round, I believe @xThor and I were off the planet.
In singles, I was on the front edge.

I watched everbody "go for it" with about half of our golfers heading towards the next tee box. Fore Right.

"But i might hook the next one"

And I love them for it.

You can't possibly know that...I mean I guess you could, but bolting haha
Have to think like I am. You were never supposed to even have an event here. Then you said you would have one. Now we are at two. Even with an upward trend, can't assume you ever get to come back.

This is the truth with all of these event. GrayBull even more so. Soak up every min you can.

There’s no choice other than going for it. I’m walking away with a low score or low confidence from this hole, no in between
