As I said yesterday. I think this course deserves a hole by hole. It is such a unique and awesome looking course, I feel like we need to break it down. Most of the info is coming from the Dormie website with a few others sprinkled in for color.

To start,GrayBull is the first ground up development in its network.. All other properties to this point have been built and then acquired. The process started in 2018 with Dormie president Zach Peed wanted to build something remote and special. To quote him once he found the sand hills of Nebraska, "The Nebraska Sandhills didn't just speak; they called".
In 2021, the next step in the course build landed. After land was chosen, they needed an architect. So, with a special piece of sand hill property they reached out to the original course designer at Bandon Dunes David McLay Kidd. Kidd an irishman with a very impressive course resume that includes. original couse at Bandon Dunes, Mammoth Dunes, Tetherow, Gamble Sands, Nanea, and The Castle Course at St. Andrews.

Kidd is credited with ushering in a new era of golf course architecture and established himself as one of the premier figures in modern golf architecture. With his Scottish roots, growing up as the son of a Scottish greenskeeper. His courses, feature links style and layouts and minimalistic designs.

GrayBull the course that almost wasn't.

After breaking ground in 2021 and construction well underway, and actually getting close to completion in 2024. A massive wildfire broke out in the area. It was only swift action by the GrayBull team and grounds crew opening all the irrigation and running sprinklers full blast that preserved the course. Due to herculean efforts, and some luck the course came out unscathed!

If this course was a boxer the tail of the tape would be impressive!! Here is the run down of this heavy weight course.

I love looking into this stuff. I am kind of a closet course architecture junky. This course and by extension facility are special..

Wait till we talk about the multiple 5500 square foot owners cabinets!! 😳😳

Looking forward to your hole by hole breakdowns!

Hole by hole breakdown will be epic.

I enjoy the breakdowns! I'm going to follow along here.

Love this

Will follow along here. May be my only chance to really imagine myself on Graybull... that is unless there's a shoulder tap in my future 🤔

This course has the vibe man. It's definitely jumped to the top of my list here

I love these breakdown threads. As someone who has been just a total knuckle dragger when it comes to course design and layout, I am trying to be better in this area.

Just don’t scare me too much about any hole in particular before I get there. Don’t need that in my brain 🤣

Will try to make it appear as easy as possible.

I’m going to love this one the most

The finest facility I have ever stepped foot on.
That speaks volumes, I'm sure you've seen a ton of good, great and probably mediocre facilities, but for this to be the finest, can't wait to see it someday!

I watched all of the videos on the hole by hole part of their website. It looks to be right up my "valley". GrayBull and Briggs Ranch both are calling to me. I can't imagine you guys will have anything but the best days of golf you can possibly have there.
